Rated 4 out of 5 by Dostagal Lightweight
I just received the Medium Carryall in Plum to use for a 10-day trip to Europe. It's lightweight but looks sturdy overall. I got single letter monogramming which nicely matches the black trim. One of the side zips has a key clip and a pen holder as well as a mesh zip pocket. Not sure that the case will stand on its own when full, and also it's on the narrow side, so pay attention to the dimensions. Overall I'm pleased with my purchase, I hope it will serve me well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by GarysWife Nice but "NOT" a Carry-On for Airplanes
Loved this because I could carry so much. It worked great on AA getting to Europe, boarded plane just fine. Coming home, British Air made us check it at $60 (conversion rate). It didn't fit in their box they have to monitor size. I'm so glad it passed going because it carried so many essentials, that if lost by the airline, we'd have a hardship (medicines, etc.). If LLBean were going to make a bag as a "carry on", why not take 1/2 inch off of it by width and height so us travelers don't have to worry and pay so much? I gave it 4 stars for roadtrips. Actually, it could even be 5 stars for weekend roadtrips.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BlueberrygGirl Nice bag for those who hate luggage check-in!
I hate luggage check in especially since I have to travel to Atlanta a lot. This suitcase saves me that annoyance. Big enough for my week long trips (thankfully I have no suits) yet fits nicely within the space constraints for carry-on.
My only complaint is what the heck happened to the strap that goes across the interior compartment to hold down your clothes???!! I had to go to the fabric store and buy the pieces I needed to make one. Easy but what a pain!

ArmchairTraveller The almost perfect carrry-on
I bought a medium-size version of this bag several years ago after a weeks-long search for the best available carry-on. It replaced a previous LL Bean bag which was heavier and worn out after several years and many thousands of miles. My needs were: to meet most airline carry-on limits, to be as light as possible, and to hold, along with a small backpack, everything I need for up a month.(we pack light and wash clothes frequently). This bag almost met my requirements, and In addition, it can expand to contain about 50 percent more, although it will then no longer meet most airlines' carry-on limits.
There were three problems, however: the plastic handle/leg assembly on the bag bottom caused it to tip backwards when standing and also prevented the bag from fitting wheels-out or wheels-in in some large aircraft overhead bins. Also, the bag I received had no elastic hold-down straps for clothes. Being moderately handy with tools, I was able to remove the leg assembly and replace it with a fabric webbing handle and a 10 1/2 inch by 2 inch piece of thin fiberboard which protects the zipper and bag bottom and allows it to stand on end without tipping. It was easy to rivet in a set of elastic straps to the inside of the bag rear. With these alterations, it has served for over four years of frequent travel, showing only moderate signs of wear, a loose telescoping handle and noisy wheels. Its replacement will be the current medium size version of this bag.

I hate writing this review since I have always felt that LLBean was of such great quality and value. I was actually excited about this purchase until I opened the carton. I was so disappointed with the flimsiness of the Carryall and the fact that it barely stays standing. I had bought this for my husband for Christmas who travels quite a bit. I don't think this would last more than a few flights. I will be returning this today. :-(

Rated 5 out of 5 by KayakingKid Best luggage I've ever owned and used
Sturdy, durable, keeps me honest when packing - I can fit plenty for a long week but I don't overpack - and just right for my physical size (5' 2" and 110 lbs) to maneuver on my own, be it on stairs or retrieving from an airport luggage claim. Have taken it for 12 days in Europe and 9 days cross country. Have tried many other styles/forms and absolutely am hooked on this style/size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OGiaM Great bag
I decided I needed a "grown up" travel bag as I had gotten tired of my little duffle on my trips to see my children. Also I'm not as young as I once was and I wanted a rolling bag. I decided to buy THIS bag based on the LL Bean reputation for quality as well as the user reviews. I LOVE this bag. First of all, it is wonderfully light weight. It's extremely well made. There are zipper pouches everywhere and I bet I use every one. There is a handle at the bottom and on the side which makes it easy to lift the bag. The handle locks into place and then collapses easily when necessary. I got the carbon color - very unobtrusive and unisex (my husband liked that!). Lastly, the size is perfect. I'll be able to carry it on the plane and yet it clearly will hold everything I need to pack. Great bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MissBuffieskisalot Great luggage for travel
My husband & I each have an extra-large bag and we are very happy with them. They have survived 2 trips to Europe with plenty of train travel and several trips to Maine to ski. Mine is lavender - I knew it would get a bit dirty, but that's fine with me. It's easy to spot on the conveyor and who is going to steal lavender-colored luggage? They are large, roomy, easy to use and pretty darn durable. On our most recent trip, when we got to Copenhagen, we decided to walk to the hotel from the train station. It took us an hour and we were exhausted, but our luggage held up perfectly on Copenhagen's cobblestone streets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kattididit Great Piece of Luggage
Recently purchased this piece for an extended trip Travels took us through airports, trains, and off and running to a cruise ship. Off the cruise ship and dragging to busses with a final destination and airport travel with no problem dragging the piece around.
The construction is great! The wheels a dream. What a great piece of luggage to drag around...yes up stairs, down stairs, lost by the airline and found again!
You know you have a great piece of luggage when you can drag it around and look at a new piece of luggage that took all the abuse of travel.
Yes..I would buy this piece again and I plan to match my piece with a complete set...
