Rated 3 out of 5 by AnSully Great Bag, Poor Embroidery
I ordered two of these bags, and ordered embroidery on each. Note that the bags are huge, and each of my kids had more than enough room to pack for an entire week including shoes and toiletries, plus some toys for my youngest. They were perfect for our needs.
However, I ordered embroidery on each, and the embroidery on one was 50% larger than on the other. It doesn't impact the function of the bags, but it is frustrating when the cost is high and you want the quality and overall look to match. If ordering more than one, I'm not sure how you could ensure that LLBean embroiders the same size, but it's a caution.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Verified Reviewer large rolling duffle
Purchased this duffle because I wanted a rolling duffle for a month trip to England and Ireland. Wanted it to be light weight, which it was and could carry lots of things.
It worked well if I did not have to roll it far and not being able to stand without my holding it was a HUGE problem. When riding on trains in airport, with back pack and carryon it was difficult to hold upright. Difficult to manage on and off trains..would twist and took some doing to straighten up. did not roll well on loose stone..
A great bag when on tour and your big bag is carried for you
loved the size..packed it with cubes and space bags
this was a very rugged trip..the wheels and bag are showing wear as I treated the bag like I saw in video..going on sidewalks and stairs
Am keeping as most of my trip are with tours and when wears out can replace.
love the colors

Rated 2 out of 5 by ASisco not the same duffle
Purchased a large rolling duffle to replace an older non wheeled version that I have been flying with twice a month for the last three years. It took two flights before the new one was in worse shape than my older one. In fact the old one has yet to develop any holes, wish I could say the same for the new one. Not the same product as before. For the money I think there are better options.

I found this bag very awkward to travel with - the bag doesn't stand on an end. I traveled with two other companions that had similar style wheeled-duffle bags - theirs stood upright on one of the ends. The bag dimensions are great - I carry a large photography tri-pod, which fits neatly in the bag. I need the same style, but will stand on an end.

I have had the medium and XL wheeled duffles for about 9 years now. I love them, and I hate them! I love how durable they are. Checked or carry-on, they always come through and protect my gear well. I hate how unsteady the medium is to wheel, and how neither of them stand up on their own. I've tried packing them a million different ways, but it just won't stand! The medium is the perfect carry-on, and it's the sample I show all my students when we pack for two weeks in Europe (yes, we only take carry-ons!). After 9 years, countless countries, and trips, the XL's lining is flaking off leaving dandruff all over my clothes and gear inside. LL Bean is replacing it, but I can't get the orange floral print I adore that I originally had. Again, the love hate, you love a print, then they change it! I recommend these duffles solely based on durability and reliability, but I always have to caveat my recommendation with the fact that they don't stand...if they made the orange floral again, I'd fill in my collection with the large and small!

Rated 1 out of 5 by tarka No way to use a security lock on this bag...
WHAT! I had to buy this (medium) rolling duffle because it was required for my trip. So I'm all packed and ready to go BUT, there is no way to lock this bag! The zipper tab is plastic not metal, and thus easily broken. AND, it doesn't have the extension tab for a security lock that EVERY other travel bag has.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SeaEben Medium size tips over while rolling
My wife and I have 3 rolling duffles, one medium size and two large. On the positive side: They are all very durable and water-proof. The oldest one we have is now about 12 years old and has been on dozens of trips world-wide. You eventually get accustomed to the fact that these will not stand up on their own, they have to be rested against a wall, the base of a stanchion while in line or leaned against the desk when checking in. The medium size rolling duffle is unbelievably unstable when being pulled along on smooth, solid ground. It starts to wobble from one wheel to the other and after a few more steps will simply, stupidly roll over. It is less likely to fall over on carpeted floors but always flops over on pavement, sidewalks, airport walkways and smooth floors. If you walk extremely slowly, like a half a mile an hour, the rolling duffle will follow along okay. Walk at your customary pace of 2 1/2 to 4 miles an hour and you will not get far before it flops over. We have tried to remedy this by packing the weighty objects in our luggage at different levels, that doesn't work. The only thing that works is to push it ahead of you. That is pretty difficult if you are walking through crowds and around barriers. The large rolling duffles sometimes get into the wibble wobble thing and flop over but the medium size is useless as a rolling duffle. You just have to pick it up and carry it if you want to walk faster than a very slow stroll.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hatless Best Carry-On Bag
I purchased this duffle 10+ years ago and have used it on 30-40 trips around the nation. One of its best features is how it fits into an overhead bin. This duffle is perfectly contoured for the bin and will slide in easily lengthwise. Since the duffle is narrower than most suitcases it will fit into spaces where a suitcase won't. If you're a good packer you can stow 5-7 days of casual clothing. Below is a list of what I packed for my last trip.
1 Pair of jeans
2 Pairs of shorts
3 Short sleeve polo shirts
3 Long sleeve polo shirts
1 Long sleeve T-shirt
4 Short sleeve T-shirts
3 Under shirts
5 Under shorts
1 Gym short
1 Bathing suit
5 Pairs of socks
1 Pair of slippers
1 Fleece pullover
1 Cotton sweater
1 Ball cap
1 Toilet kit
This list does NOT include the clothes I wore on the airplane. If you take along a small backpack you can include more items like an extra pair of shoes, books, iPad, etc.
This is a two wheel duffle with good wheels that will roll over uneven terrain easily. I also like being able to choose from an array of colors. I have Ice Blue which is similar to Arctic Blue. My bag will never be confused with someone else's and take by mistake.

Rated 5 out of 5 by trianguloz I wish I could give this more than five stars!!
The first extra large rolling duffel that I purchased was in 1995. now I have 5 (including the original). I have had my duffel for 21 years and it is in amazing shape. I have traveled all over the world with it, it has been to Europe several times and to South America twice yearly since. I can't tell you how much I love this bag. It is super roomy (I ALWAYS fill it to the airline 50 lbs limit) and very light. I would recommend this to any serious traveler!

Rated 1 out of 5 by AppTrailHiker Negative Review
This is the first negative review I have submitted on an LL Bean product. Always been very pleased but not with this item. I recently had to make my way through Chicago's O"Hare airport and this thing wobbled, would not stand up, and was a nightmare. It is hard to pack as the zipper runs down the middle and there is one very small side pocket that did not even hold an 8 inch E-Reader. Barely held my charging cord for phone. Wheels too close together and narrow.
If you are going camping I think it would be fine but it definitely is not made for commercial (airline) travel. Not very sturdy.
