Rated 1 out of 5 by LovesToTravel716 Very disappointed with this product!
I have been buying LL Bean products for YEARS. I travel a lot and own every size of the regular adventure duffle bags and the large rolling adventure duffle bag. I have been very disappointed with the large rolling adventure duffle bag. The first time I used this product, the fabric ripped right above the plastic molding by the wheel. I called LL Bean and they immediately replaced the bag. The first time I used the replacement bag, the fabric wore in the same spot and I am quite sure when I use the bag again, the fabric will tear once again! LL Bean, can you please reinforce the fabric above the plastic molding so it holds up better?!? If the fabric on this bag rips I am going to request a refund and look for a new bag somewhere else. Very disappointed with this product!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by stewbug5 Holds a lot, and are durable
I purchased two of the large rolling duffels about a year and a half ago. One in Sunflower, and the other in Blue Jay. We have a family of 5, and there is plenty of room for all of our stuff for a week-long vacation. They have been to numerous locations via driving, but they have also been through the airlines. The large size is standard size for checking your luggage. If you get the extra-large duffel it is considered "oversized luggage". So keep that in mind when decided which to purchase.
They both went with us to Disney World, and held up great. Easy to spot on the luggage carousel, and all of our stuff stayed dry with it sprinkling outside. If they sit in down pouring rain for any period of time I am guessing your stuff would get wet. I would classify them as highly water-resistant; not waterproof. I was able to pull one as I pushed a double stroller. They maneuver easily.
The Blue Jay one has also been on international flights to Ireland. The bag itself held up great, but the shoulder strap was ripped off. That however, is more our fault for not removing the strap like its suggested. They both have a few dirty marks on them from the airlines, but not too bad. They clean off fairly well.
Some tips: Like everyone says they do not stand up on end on their own. Due to it being a rolling "duffel" I'm not sure how it would unless they added some sort of kickstand underneath that came out when lifted. Once you get the hang of the bag it is not very bothersome. I usually try to pull the handle out BEFORE lifting the bag. I leave the handle extended to set the bag down. If you try and lift the bag first before extending the handle it will roll forward and run over your toes. So extending the handle first, then picking it up will save your toes.
All in all we love these bags. They fit a ton; a lot more than they look like they will. They maneuver very easily over bumps and uneven pavement, and hold up well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by CaptainEddy Good, but they used to be better.
I purchased my first Rolling Adventure Duffle, Extra-Large several years ago in the gold color, and after numerous trips and baggage handlers it started to wear out and looked, well... dirty and abused. So I opted to purchase a new Duffle, but this time in black. The new bag was similar to the older one, but with a couple of major differences. Firstly, the fabric was less robust, and secondly it's origin of manufacturing had also changed. I'm well aware of the globalized market we live in, but I favor L.L. Bean (LLB) with my business because of the quality of the goods provided. And not necessarily because of the "No Questions Asked" return policy. That being said, to date, I've had to purchase another black Duffle, (due to the amount of gear I travel with) and now every other year I have to return one or the other because they just don't hold up. To be fair, I travel from the lower forty eight to Alaska every other month, through five airports and two to three vessel transfers each way. That's roughly 60 airports and 24 or so ship transfers per year. Not bad considering, but my original bag did this for about 6 years, and the newer bags only last one or two. I will probably continue to purchase items from LLB, but will also save the shipping boxes and return labels. If this is the business model LLB can sustain itself with, so be it.

I bought this bag to put all of my gear and over a week's worth of clothes in for a 10 day motorcycle tour in France and Spain. The gear consisted of two full coverage riding suits, boots, gloves, a tankbag and a full face helmet. There was room to spare for electronics, etc. We arrived in Barcelona only to discover there was a European taxi strike on, so we had to take a bus to get even near our hotel. My friend had three bags, I had this one. When we got off the bus, my friend had two bags, and did not realize it until about 30 min later. He never saw it again. All of my stuff was safely in this huge bag, a big advantage for me. It pulls and rolls easily, and believe me, I got to test that function for about two miles. I HIGHLY recommend this bag instead of trying to keep up with several smaller bags. Actually, I had a smaller Bean gym bag holding my electronics within the big duffel. If you put your heavy stuff in the bottom opposite the pull handle, it will stand, but it is not designed that way. It is also not waterproof, and does not claim to be. It is very well made and should stand up to years of travel. I love the thing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by StupidNickname12 "Water Resistant" but my clothes got wet
This bag is a nice light weight. But I'm with the other recent reviewers who say it's not so great for airline travel. The clothes in the old duffel we've used for years (another brand) were dry while the ones in this bag were wet after our flight. The performance on this first trip is what I would have expected from a cheaper bag. Its shape also makes it less roomy than I expected from the measurements.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Coryg15 I SO wanted to love this bag.
First off, my son has an older (7+ years) extra large adventure duffle and it is fabulous.I bought a canvas one and it punctured and ripped on the second trip but LLBean promptly exchanged it for the large buffalo plaid adventure duffle. I've had it less than one year and have used it on four flights. The good: it is roomy, the wheels glide like a dream, and the color...well I could spot it a mile away. The bad: the clothes shift all over inside the bag, it IS NOT WATERPROOF (my clothes were soaked after the bags sat outside in mild rain during loading), and you cannot stand it up while waiting in line. It is also unwieldy getting it up and down stairs and there are no pockets inside. Also, on the last leg of the trip, I notice two small tears in the corners of the bag and wear on the rear handle by the wheels. To say I love the color of the bag is an understatement but I too will be returning it and getting something other than a bean bag for airline travel. I LOVE their carry on duffles for car travel but I can't recommend the current rolling duffles. Sorry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by gaileee Best bag ever
This bag held more gear than a large rolling suitcase. I highly recommend this item...it was well worth my investment on a recent camping trip. The bag carried my tent, 3 chairs plus a lot of other items.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Jayindc Tips over but hold a lot
I bought 2 of these rolling duffles for a child moving to Europe who needed lightweight suitcases that hold a lot. These do hold lots of clothes but they do not stand up and are very hard to manage as they tip over frequently if not careful and do not stand up. No hard bottom. Big disadvantage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SSeacoastNH Excellent quality - very roomy!
This is a great size for a weeklong trip or so, or a weekender for multiple people. Love love love the color (we got the darker green, not the Loden). The quality is great. We just got it yesterday so if it doesn't hold up I'll revise my review but I can't imagine it won't - it is LL BEAN! I didn't notice if it said this in the description but the interior "fabric" looks like it is waterproof material! Like the kind of material used for bags you bring kayaking. Also has both a retractable plastic handle and a soft fabric handle for rolling, the bottom is solid and heavy. I imagine this is going to be used on many trips in my family! I love it and will be buying more LL bean luggage in the future. So happy with this purchase.
