Rated 5 out of 5 by PinkStreaks Awesome duffel
We bought 4 of these to take on a 2-week trip to Europe. We must have dragged them up and down dozens of staircases in about 8 different train stations and subway stations, not to mention the hotels with no elevators... and rolled them several miles through stations and walking from stations to hotels.
They held up beautifully. They are sturdy, attractive (the bright colors make them easy to spot in an airport baggage claim), and stable when rolling (though I recommend packing heavier items at the bottom where the wheels are). The telescoping handle is easy to get up and down, and the duffel can be pulled by either the telescoping handle or the fabric handle depending on the situation (fabric is easier up stairs...)
The large is big enough for enough clothes and so on for a two-week trip using compression bags, without being unwieldy - we got them up onto overhead luggage racks in trains fully packed without too much trouble.
Just a great, tough, versatile piece of luggage for a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ColonelDad Rugged, durable, far exceeded my expectations
I purchased two of these duffles two years ago - extra-large and medium. I am in the military and routinely travel for 60-90 days during which these bags are stuffed to capacity and often take a buddy to lift the extra large one as they are so fully packed. In and out of vehicles, helicopters, commercial airliners. Often literally thrown in the back of something, large pieces of equipment thrown on top of them. Only one small hole has appeared on a side seam of the extra-large - and that was because something sharp jabbed it, not because it wore threw. Besides the incredibly durable material itself, three features continue to exceed my expectations. I once again (just now) had the thing so full that I had to straddle it and squeeze with my knees to get both sides even close together. I then have to tug to get the zipper up, each side an inch or two until I get the thing closed. EVERY time I do that (dozens of times) I expect the zipper to come unstitched. I'm not sure what they're sewn on with, but incredibly durable. 2nd feature, when the thing is fully loaded and I tilt it up and onto its rear wheels to roll/drag, I expect the pull-out handle to bend and or snap, there's so much weight on it. Hasn't happened. Ditto for the wheels - gravel, small rocks, dirt, sand, uneven surfaces in the back of vehicles, wet surfaces - the wheels haven't shown any wear. Something wheeled like this, I would expect to have to lube the wheels or something. Hasn't been necessary. I understand my use of the duffle is different than other buyers. But if it has stood up to the challenges I've thrown at it - the thing can stand up to just about any requirement. Thanks LLB, for a great piece of gear.

Purchased a large and a medium and used both for a recent trip.
The bags are heavy even when empty and the closures are cumbersome. Worst of all, neither bag would stand up on its own and they kept falling over unless leaned against something for support. Very inconvenient.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Freqshopper Too heavy!
Received this bag today and unfortunately will be returning it. I travel on the train and this bag seemed heavy, even when empty. It is about 6 lbs empty, which may not seem like a lot, but when fully packed, it would be too heavy for me to manage. If weight is an issue, I would consider this. Otherwise, it looks like a well made bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LLLovinLL Great size, strong and good looking too!
I bought this large size rolling duffle, plus one for my husband, before our trip to Ireland. It was a good size for our 10-day trip, fitting everything we needed and staying under the airline's size and weight limits. They were easy to handle and rolled well as we trekked around the airports and cities we visited. I would recommend monogramming so the duffle is easy to spot on the luggage carousel. The quality is excellent and we look forward to using these on future trips. My one suggestion for LL Bean is to find a way to help the duffle stand up on end! :-)

Rated 1 out of 5 by ShutMyMouth Comfortable, waterproof, but not great material
I have bought 6 Adventure Duffles over the years and LOVE them. This was the first rolling duffle for us. Unfortunately, this bag didn't make it through its first flight without receiving a small tear along the way. Since it was damaged by the airlines, it is not returnable. I love LL BEAN and will continue to buy this bag, but hope they will make the material thicker in the next season.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Beach21 Not good
I am giving this item a poor rating. There are several things wrong with the design of this duffle. 1--no internal tie-down straps. When you sit the duffle upright everything inside goes straight to the bottom and that shifts the weight. 2--it is very hard to handle. Rolls pretty good but trying to turn a corner or get around an airport is hard. 3--when sitting upright fully loaded the duffle falls forward.

GREAT BAG. I USED IT FOR A TRIP THAT WAS 25 DAYS IN ASIA. HELD UP REAL GOOD AND EVERYTHING SEEM TO FIT REAL WELL. ITS THE PERFECT SIZE FOR CHECKED LUGGAGE.NO PROBLEM. I RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE WHO TRAVELS. THE ONLY CON OF THIS LUGGAGE IS THAT IT WONT STAND ON ITS OWN. IT FALLS FORWARD. OTHER THAN THAT ITS A GREAT BAG!! PLANNING TO BUY ANOTHER ONE!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by CG4370 Sturdy, Practical Luggage
I purchased the large rolling duffle, used it for a month of continuous travel (I'd have used it since, but it's quite roomy and I haven't taken other long trips since purchasing it so it's sat in the closet, but would definitely consider one in a smaller size for shorter excursions), and dragged it through several countries, several flights, two seasons, all sorts of public transportation, up and down curbs, down flights of stairs, over roads of varying conditions, overall put it through unreasonable tests, and it looks and performs as good as new. The material is thick, the wheels are solid, the handle doesn't flex, and it generally inspires confidence. Yes, it's tippy if you try to stand it on it's hind quarters, and no it doesn't have many pockets, but for the price it is far and away the best luggage I came across in my shopping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MoeJ Perfect for college student and travel
I purchased a large rolling duffle for each of my daughters when they went off to college. Perfect for bringing enormous amounts of laundry home over the holidays. Stores easily in a dorm room as it lays flat or can be put in the back of a closet. It's perfect for travel as previously mentioned. The lack of ability to stand on end is worth the trade-off for the ease of storage. No big deal. Worth every penny.
