Rated 3 out of 5 by Hibber108 lacking external pockets like older model
I bought this to replace the older Medium duffle model we had that was very worn in terms of color. The older one has useful pockets on each end that the new model is lacking. So not sure we will keep the new one. We will continue to use the old one, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DewieG Great Bag!
I received this duffle bag in a MED size, orange, as a birthday gift. Having had previous LL BEAN products, I was excited to get a bag that I needed to haul my stuff on adventures. When I received it, it was larger than I had anticipated but very much appreciated. I like brighter colors but this orange fits in well with my other "naturey" items. The material is lightweight but has the quality LLB is known for. I do wish it had more pockets for what nots, but I am totally satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MorningMist Excellent for kayaking gear
I bought this specifically to hold all of my kayaking gear for a day trip and for extended car-camping trips when I take my kayak. I use it to carry my gear from house to car and keep the car tidy during longer trips.
The large size easily holds my pfd, safety gear, cockpit duffel, mukluks, clothing, food for a day trip, kayak seat cushion, and a rolled-up Helinox chair. I take a lot of stuff even for a day trip, so I don't think the extra-large size is necessary for kayakers.
The interior of the bag is white, making it easy to find things inside. Apparently it's not 100% waterproof, but the coating seems thick and the fabric is rugged. The zipper works very smoothly. There's a small zippered pocket on the outside.
I previously used an all-vinyl waterproof duffel. It was hard to fold up (too thick and stiff). The Adventure duffel is much better and has made kayaking logistics a lot easier---just toss everything in the bag and go.

Rated 1 out of 5 by harrymacz no firm bottom
It is stated that this item has a "reinforced bottom." To me, that means, at a minimum, a cheap, removable, and fabric covered cardboard bottom. None here. It looks as if they sewed an extra piece of thin plastic on the bottom. This is not "reinforced." The bag will sag with the slightest weight.
Returned. I don't think I should have to pay return postage, but it isn't worth arguing about the meaning of reinforced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ExpatinSG Extremely durable, roomy duffle!
Last year, my family of 4 moved from the U.S. to Southeast Asia with 8 large Adventure Duffles. We didn't send a shipment when we moved, so ALL of our personal belongings came with us on the plane in these bags. They have since made 2 other roundtrips and remain in near perfect condition. To this day, the only evidence of use are a few smudges from the luggage belts or wherever. They are usually packed FULL, often heavy, and have held up as I would expect from an LLBean product. The large size is very big, they work well for long weekends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 4goods Tough, large enough to carry overnight needs
We've purchased two and will be ordering a third soon. Bought with rolling duffles for college kids, expecting to have to return them when destroyed by youthful disregard. So far, no need for that. They are tough and withstand all that my kids dish out being dragged, squished, shoved, yanked, and generally mistreated. A bargain compared to less resilient carry-ons and overnight bags.

Rated 2 out of 5 by DobeRescuer Not what I expected
I picked up the small duffel for use with hauling gym equipment and was disappointed that the bag doesn't stand up on its own. The floor of the bag is a piece of removable, cardboard-like material rather than a solid, permanent bottom for the bag. The benefit would be that the bag can easily be packed within another bag for later use, if necessary, and not take up a lot of space-but I am looking for a bag that stands on its own, making it easy to load and unload and see what's inside without having to pull the bag up and out of its own way.

by LovesMountains Well made, high quality and perfect sizes
This duffle is so well made it puts other 'comparable' duffles to shame. Great craftsmanship, solid heavy duty materials (without weighing a ton) and so many good colors. I bought one medium one for myself to use as a gym bag and it is perfectly sized for that. I tend to pack the weeks worth of gym clothes, leave it in my car and just grab it when I go in for a workout. It fits all my stuff, without being too big (fits in the locker just fine); clothes, water bottles, toiletries and shoes. Just what I was looking for! The inside of the fabric is coated for water resistance, the bottom is reinforced (though not stiff) and the small exterior pocket is great for little stuff. I bought one for all my daughters activity stuff as well; swim lessons, karate and rock climbing all fit well in one bag! Thank you LL Bean for making such high quality products and backing them with a great guarantee!

Rated 5 out of 5 by MuscleDaddyTitan777 Awesome Bag!
It seems like I just placed the order and it's in my hands already, this company is on my top five list when it comes to quick delivery. I ordered the small bag in black (monogramed) for everyday use. The bag itself is extremely well made with unexpected side strap handles and a padded shoulder strap that is most welcomed since most of them cut into you, even the handles themselves have a velcro wrap to protect your hands and for easy carrying. I also took notice to two additional straps on top that tighten easily with pulling a strap should I overstuff the bag. Just one small suggestion it would be great to have an additional pocket on the inside for miscellaneous sundries. I recommend this bag for it's quality and the many uses it has, from the gym to carrying a pet, my cat jumped into it the moment I took out of the packaging.

Rated 5 out of 5 by dozzie strong but lightweight
What a great bargain--strong, sturdy but very lightweight when empty. This extra-large duffle just fits in the size of most airline checked bags' allowances, so you can cram it with 50 pounds of stuff. It's not quite as easy to manipulate as a wheeled-duffle, but a wheeled duffle will take up about 10 pounds of your weight allowance, so it depends on what your priorities are for travel. I usually travel to the USA with a single bag #with a second duffle folded up inside# and return with two duffles stuffed with all of my shopping, so this extra large bag really is perfect for my purposes.
