Bought this last year for my son for his 4th birthday. A year has gone by and we have put many miles on all of our gear and this little pack has surpassed our expectations.
It has been sat on, dropped 4 stories, dragged through dirt, mud, and brush, slid down trees and rocks with barely a scrape.
It holds a change of clothes, rain gear, water bottles, snacks, and a small first aid kit with room to spare.
I would recommend this to anyone who has a little one wanting to hike.

This little pack fits my robust 5 yr old perfectly and the harness and sliding adjustable chest strap are great for comfort and load stability.
We recently did a day walk/bouldering and he carried his water bottle, rain shell, chalkbag, climbing shoes, emergency bivvy and his lunch.
Allows enough for necessary items but not to much to overload a young person's growing frame.
Great value for money and seems well built and robust enough for heavy use. Recommended!

This is a great little day pack. I took this day pack to Disney everyday. Filled with snacks for the kids, slickers, a 35mm camera, Tissues and, my wallet.
I also carried to waters in the side net pockets. In the front zipper is very easy to hold park tickets and the key to the car. Its light weight no extra weight from the bag.
I definitely recommend this bag .

I bought this last year for my daughter's 9th. birthday and she absolutely loves it! She is tall for her age, average weight and it fits her perfectly. She uses it on day hikes, xc ski excursions and on vacation as well. I have carried it myself on hikes and though I find it a bit small for my stocky frame, I don't mind it for short hikes. We highly recommend this pack for kids and smaller adult women. It holds a light jacket, water bottle, m3p, snacks, mini binoculars, and more. Only drawback is that the water bottle holder could be a bit taller on the side of the pack.

I purchased this day pack for my 9 year old daughter. She was attending a nature's classroom program with her school mates. While other reviews have commented on the size (too small), she found it to be the perfect size and weight. The side pockets are on the small size for the larger camelbak bottle so make sure the bottle is really secured.

Bought these for my grandsons ages 6 & 8yrs. to use for their nature course. The boys loved them. The boys are small for their ages but the packs adjusted well to fit theml. They will be able to use the packs for many years. The packs are large enough to carry a days worth of gear but still small enough for the boys to easily hike for 4 hours with the packs on. Great product, great price, highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jeffrs96 A little too small.
The backpacks appear to be very well made. Had to return them as they are too small for my 9 and 11 year old guys. They are about the same size in height and weight, with the older one a little small for his age.
I was very satisfied with the quality and would recommend this for a 7 or 8 year old.

I bought this for my 5 year old for his birthday. We do alot of hiking along the Rocky Mountain Front/Bob Marshall Wilderness and he wanted to start carrying his own pack. It is the perfect size and the color will be great out among the trees and foliage. It fit his body really well and has lots of space for his water bottle and hiking gear. We are looking forward to trying it out on opening day on the game range in May.

Rated 4 out of 5 Smaller than it looks
This is a beautiful pack, but it was surprisingly small--I ordered it for my 8-year-old son, but it really fits my 3.5 year old. The dimensions on the site seemed big enough so we were surprised to see it so tiny.

My wife and I were looking for a new back pack for our 3.5 year-old son. We like to go hiking, and wanted to get him a good, day-hike pack. But he also needed one for everday use of going to daycare/preschool. As with all children his size, the main issue is keeping the straps on his shoulders. This pack meets the purpose exactly. It fits his back just right, coming down to the top of his waist. With the chest clip on the straps we are able to secure the shoulder straps so that they do not slip off his shoulders. The main body of the pack is open and easily holds a change of clothes as well as some toys. The front pocket is easy to slip something little in and he can put a sippy cup in the bottle holders. All in all, this pack was a great deal and give us the functionality we were looking for. Plus, we know this is an LL Bean product and so quality is not a concern.
