This is perfect- lots of pockets for wallet, keys, dog biscuits and plastic bags. Washable, because I get slobbered on a lot, so this is nearly perfect-- my only wish is that the inner pocket was a bit longer to fit today's smart phones. I wore it to an all day festival and loved having everything I needed handy without needing to carry a purse.

Rated 1 out of 5 by immerferien This vest is not as good as the old LLBean Vest!
Both my husband and I purchased many years ago the older version of this traveler vest. Unfortunately they became very worn and therefore, I purchased a new one for my husband within the last few months and he used it for our trip to Argentina. He commented that the pockets were too small. I really didn't pay attention and ordered the female vest in May 2016 for myself and tried it on and realized that the pockets are not functional to hold all that we carry on us - passports, money, phones, maps etc. I don't know when LLBean made the changes to this version of the traveler vest, but it is not sufficient for our travel needs. I will be returning mine, since I have another vest I now use (another brand) for my travels but I really liked the older version of LLBean's vest better. It had more zippered deeper pockets, instead of some velcro pockets, they now use buttons which is very inconvenient, all the pockets were bigger on the older vest and the new vest is also missing 2 important pockets on the right and left side behind the other pockets which were open and great for items that did not have to be secure - like for maps. I would guess this vest is less expensive to make since it does not have as much material ( extra pockets and zippers are more expensive). I would gladly pay more if the old version was brought back. Keep on using YKK zippers as they are the best. I don't carry a purse when I travel and all my belongings are on me for security reasons. Too bad they do not make the old vest anymore.... maybe some day they will bring it back.

When I looked at the price it seemed pretty steep for a vest but after wearing it and finding all the places to carry things I believe it to be well worth the cost. This vest is amazing! It is well made and comfortable. It holds all the little things needed when I walk the dog. It has buttons and zippers to keep items from falling out when I bend over to pick up "stuff" :o) Love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Travlite Classic, comfortable, traveler vest
I plan to wear this vest when boarding the plane, giving me additional carry on storage. It keeps everything handy, passport, other ID, personal items, sunglasses, so my larger carry on can be stowed away and not touched until disembarking. The fabric texture and color are just right. I love the simplicity of the styling, and the adjusting tabs. The decorative stitching adds to the general durability of construction. I expect to use this vest for many years of comfortable travel.
The one thing I had hoped to carry in the pockets is my IPad mini. The pockets are not deep enough, so I plan to add a flap and button to one of the inside pockets that will keep the iPad mini secure. That is my only criticism of this wonderful vest.

This is a very nice vest. I work at a zoo and wear it as part of my uniform. It is light enough that I won't get too hot, has mesh back with a vent. Plenty of pockets too. Well made and sturdy should last a long time. Plan to get another one to use as photo vest while on vacation.

Pockets, lots of useable pockets! Love this vest. Perfectly sized, fits well on ladies, and is comfortable. Plan to use this vest on a photo safari when it is too warm for the ladies LL Bean Traveler / Field Jacket. I'm definitely keeping the moss green (and I normally don't even like green!).

Rated 5 out of 5 by IrishTraveler Great for travel
Vest purchased and used for a trip to Rome. Sturdy but lightweight. Perfect addition to my layered approach in selecting clothing to pack. Zippered and buttoned pockets were ample in size and provided easy access to important items (credit cards, ID, passport, money) while keeping them secure on my person (relative to say, carrying such items in a handbag). Vest hung very comfortably on me and I ending up wearing it continuously throughout the trip as well as on the plane to and from Italy.

I was hesitant to spend this much money on a vest, but I now have to carry oxygen with me all the time. Carrying a purse as well has become a burden. I'm now able to fill the pockets with all my essentials and a bit more.
I'm not about to go on a safari, but love the vest when shopping at the supermarket, going to craft shows and more. I really like the weight of it, though I have not worn it in the summer yet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MNTraveller No Deep Pockets :(
I bought this vest for travel. It's a Traveler Vest. I travel a lot and what I use most when I travel are inside pockets. Deep inside pockets that can take a small wallet, my passport, tickets (yes, some of us still use paper tickets!). I was actually hoping to be able to stop carrying a purse with this vest. This vest has not got a single pocket deeper than about 4 or 5 inches, and it has made very poor use of the inside of the garment which is where I want my most important pockets. L.L.Bean should have me design their Traveler Vest! Seriously. I do not think that this was designed by a traveler at all. Other than that it seemed like a very nice garment.

by horseladE Comfortable even when pockets are full
This vest is a comfortable way to keep small items handy when trail riding on horseback. The weight is well distributed on the shoulders intead of on the neck like another well known super pocket vest. I am 5'6" and 147 lbs and bought a large to have as much length as possible. I used the button tabs to take in the waist for a better fit. After washing, the fabric was a bit softer. I was able to press a nice crisp pleat at the tab, from back yoke to bottom hem, so it lays flat and neat. I use the front button tab closure more than the zipper closure while riding. I have relatively small hands, but a few of the pockets are a bit narrow at the opening. But the main front pockets are large enough for easy access to my phone. Having my phone, keys, chapstick, pocket knife, etc in the vest instead of pants pockets is also much more comfortable while riding or sitting. Highly recommended.
