I had to laugh, going to meet friends to go fishing for a couple weeks. Saw there was quit a bit of rain in the forecast and had been looking to invest in rain jacket for quite a while. On the way picked up the jacket at the local L. L. Bean store, next to no rain happened during the day.
I will write a proper review in the future. I do not expect to have any situations because of the purchase history we have with L. L. Bean products.
Great products and customer service - Thank You

Great waterproof rain jacket at the right price. I wore the Emerger II this weekend in torrential rain at it did the job nicely. The rubber cuffs are a great feature and one that is lacking from similarly priced wading jackets from other brands. Convenient pockets with plenty of storage space. It is also lightweight and easily packs into my sling pack. And it comes with the LL Bean guarantee which is unmatched in the industry.

Received the E II Wading Jacket. This was purchased for an August ?14 trip to a Wilderness lodge on Lake Creek Alaska. I have fished this place in the past and have had great need for a good wading jacket on just about every trip. I read the reviews for this jacket and it seems to fit my needs. I like the construction and the pocket space seems quite ample. The jacket is roomy and appears to allow me to fish with no restrictions. Some reviewers had a problem with the length of this jacket. I can?t imagine why. It?s a WADING JACKET which one normally wears OVER WADERS. I hope that they caught the correlation. I am 6 feet tall and the regular length fits perfectly over the top of my waders and extends to my waist. I do not try to strap a wading belt around my wading jacket because it is NOT dry a top, a totally different piece of gear that I employ when surf fishing. The only concern that I might have is the ?breathability?. Like some other reviewers I do perspire when trudging the banks of rivers, streams and beaches. I have worn the most expensive Gortex, Dry Plus, etc. etc. NONE have kept me perspiration free. What I have learned to do is to rinse my jackets INSIDE as well as outside after a day chasing finned creatures and then allowing (especially the inside) to dry well. I?ll submit a more comprehensive review upon my return from AK. I hope that the 5 star rating remains.

Rated 5 out of 5 Nice wading jacket
Is a light coat all by itself. If going out on a cold day, you should wear a sweater or something warm underneath. Would recommend getting one larger size than usual to account for needing something warm to fit this coat over.
Is sealed up well inside the coat, and has (rubber?) throughout, including in the wrists, where you can tightly Velcro them, making them almost if not fully waterproof. Very well thought out coat!

I purchased this jacket a few weeks ago. Shipping was very fast and it arrived on time. I was fly fishing today in heavy rain and I stayed nice and dry. Very nice jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Hawkeye79 overall a good wading jacket
my old wading jacket is fairly bright, and it's wrist closures leave something to be desired, so I ordered the Emerger II. I liked everything about the jacket except I had concerns about the breathability of the waterproof membrane. I tend to perspire a lot, and while trying it around the house, it did not breathe enough for my needs, so I returned it. I can recommend it, with the warning it's definitely not the most breathable of wading jackets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JeffMc Exceptional value in a true wading jacket
I have used the first generation Emerger Wading Jacket for many years, and have since picked up the Emerger II Wading Jacket. This jacket is perfectly cut for wearing over insulated layers in winter conditions as well as over chest waders. The pockets have generous room for large fly boxes, especially larger streamer fly boxes. The hand-warmer pockets seem to sit a little high in the jacket at first, however this is much appreciated when standing in deep, cold water. The accessory/retractor attachments are a really nice touch in the way that, when using a retractor, the accessories have a bit of a cover from the jacket fabric so that they do not snag on fly line and branches/bushes as easily. They also eliminate the need to wear an additional lanyard either inside or outside of the jacket to carry additional accessories "at the ready". I use this jacket when fishing in pretty harsh Wyoming conditions, including wind, rain, and snow. The jacket is an excellent wind barrier, especially when wearing a mid-layer underneath for additional warmth. Short of being Gore-Tex, this is an excellent wind and water resistant wading jacket, especially for the price. The design and features rival those of jackets at twice or three times the price. In addition, the L.L. Bean customer service and satisfaction guarantee is second to none.
