This is my third Platypus 'bottle'. These are great for people who put premiums on weight and/or size. This bottle holds a full one liter of water when opened up, then when empty, folds/rolls up to fit inside a toilet paper roll. I use these while backpacking for several days and have enjoyed them. They are sealed very well, never had any of them leak. My only complaint, is these are missing a reinforced hole for a hook or carabiner. Because I can't hook it on the outside of my pack, I must store it inside the pack, wasting valuable space. But other than that, a solid purchase.

I bought this with one of my LLBean promotional gift certificates, and really like it!
So far, I've only used it for vacations, over the winter. Empty, it'll pass through the TSA checks, and then can be filled at any water fountain in the airport. I carried it in my pack hiking and exploring as well, and loved that I wasn't contributing to plastics garbage. It cleans easily with dish soap and water. It doesn't make your drink taste funny. It will stand up on its own - I wasn't sure it was going to. It's not bulky like a solid nalgene or plastic bottle, so my pack actually shrank as the day went on! Just an all-around great little bottle!
The only thing that could be improved would be to make the cap so that it can't be lost. IF that happened, though, it looks as if any cap from a water or soda bottle would fit.

I love this waster bottle, I use it with Gatorade powder on hikes and even bring it to class! It is super easy to fill and clean too! I would recommend.

I drink a minimum of 2 liters per day and Im tired of aluminum and plastic water bottles hogging up my backpack and cup-holders especially when they are empty. When I finish one of these bags I can easily fold it up and throw it in my backpack for the day. For 8 bucks it is a solid construction and I would recommend to anybody looking for this style of water bottle.

I bought this to go with previous ones since I travel a lot to countries where you can't drink the water. I keep one filled (after adding purifying tablets) and one to take on the road. Saves lots of plastic bottles from the landfill.
I have also used these to fill with wine to take on travels so I don't take the chance of broken glass. Never had a problem!

Rated 4 out of 5 by mdombrofski Great water bottle - hope I don't lose the cap!
Great water bottle - reminds me of an IV bag - delivers a torrent of water when squeezed which a appreciated especially when very thirsty Only recommendation is to add a way to attach the cap permanently to the bottle so you don't lose the cap. In my first several uses, sure enough, I dropped the cap but fortunately was able to recover it.

The only problem I see is that it is too easy to lose the cap--this happened to me, so I bought a cap with a mouthpiece...hope I don't lose it!

We used to carry a couple Nalgene bottles when we traveled to other countries so we could sterilize our own water with our Steri Pen. That saved money for us and saved plastic bottles from being thrown into landfills all over the world.
The Nalgene were heavier than the Platypus and bulky - even when half empty. Platypus has solved our problems! We took 2 to Ecuador and had no trouble with them. They still work with our Steri Pen (the kind with the rubber collar), are very light to carry, still reasonably easy to drink from, collapse down as they get emptied and can even be rolled up and fit in a pocket when completely empty! Fabulous product.
The only difficulty is that the bottom edges of the Platypus come to 90 degree angles. These plastic corners catch on mesh pockets. I'm too afraid to trim them for fear that the bottle will leak, so I just deal with it. O.K., Bean. How about making rounded corners on your terrific Platypus bottles? :-)
