These pants are worth it. I live in the DC area and when it rains it pours. They keep you 100% dry and they fit over my khaki work pants. The rain pants are extreamly light and versital as well.
I still can't figure out how to fold them so they fit in the pocket pouch, but that doesn't make them any less effective.
Buy them!

I had to send these back. They only had one back pocket-just not enough.

This product is great. After walking in the snow and coming home with soaking wet pants I decided to bit the bullet and purchase GorTex. I always wanted a pair and don't know why I waited so long. Warm, dry and comfortable.

As an outdoor professional, I have a lot of gear and value quality products. These pants provide minor water protection and breathability. They would make great around town or car camping waterproof pants. However, I would not recommend, tough, extreme conditions with the Stowaway pant.
I think it is smart to spend more and get something more durable and higher quality.

Rated 3 out of 5 by bearpaw L or XL? that is the question
I am always on the fence between ordering L or XL. I am 6'2", 215 pounds. In this case, I ordered XL and found them much too roomy and too long in the legs. The quality seemed to be excellent. I did return them and exchanged for the Trail Model Rain Pants, size L. They have just arrived and I think they will be perfect. Not gore tex, but they will suit my needs in a fairly moderate climate.

I shopped around quite a bit before settling on these Stowaway Pants. While there are more affordable pants on the market from other sources, these pants give me what I wanted -- GoreTex, roomy fit and quality workmanship. I am 5'8", 166 lbs with a normal build and size Medium is a perfect fit (waist and inseam) when layered with a pair of medium weight polar fleece pants. I do, however, wish the design included two side pockets along with the zippered back pocket. Another "nice-to-have" feature would be a waterproof cargo-style pocket on one of the legs. While the Stowaway Jacket I wear with the pants has ample exterior pockets, additional pockets on the rain pants would greatly improve functionality and convenience. That's why I assigned four stars to an otherwise five star product.

These pants are worth every penny and also are great at cutting the wind. I sat at a football game for 2 hours at night in a total downpour that never stopped, and I was warm and dry (about 40 degrees). Got the gore tex jacket too. LlBean rocks!!

Bought these for my boyfriend in March for his birthday, as we're city dwellers and we walk to work in all kinds of weather. Today, 10/29, Hurricane Sandy started to show her pretty face and Jeff had to make the two mile trek to his job at a nearby University as essential personnel. He broke out the stowaway pants in hopes that he could remain dry all day while doing security rounds at the dorms. When he came home, the first words out of his mouth were "honey, thank you for these pants." He says they fit true to size, they covered his boots enough below his ankles and they kept him dry in all the wind and blowing rain. He recommends them to anyone venturing into windy and rainy conditions. The price may cause you to raise eyebrows, but considering LLBean's excellent gaurantees, you'll get a ton of use out of this product. Must have!

They fit great, but this newer version doesn't have the ankle strap that allows tightening. I like to use this to keep the rain out on a windy day.

I bought these pants to go with the matching Gore-Tex jacket that I bought at the same time. I tried the pants on when the arrived and they fit easily over jeans, and are easy to get on over shoes. I haven't tried them in wet weather yet but they sure seem comfortable. The only suggestion I offer on how to improve them is to include zippers on the sides in the front, so if a person is wearing them over another pair of pants and needs to get into his/her pants' pocket, it's not necessary to reach down inside the Gore-Tex pants to do so. That could lead to a lot of strange looks. (ha ha). Other than the lack of a way to easily get to the pants' pockets of the pants you might wear underneath the Gore-Tex pants, these are pretty cool rain pants!
