The Stowaway Jacket could be better if it was a couple of inches longer LL Bean. It would not make any difference in the packability of the jacket, especially because you elected to use nothing but nylon mesh on the inside. Even for the one and only inside pocket at the bottom. The arms are a perfect length and the zipper is good. The fabric on the collar is a great touch to keep the your neck warm in the rain.
Of course the Gore-Tex will keep you dry from the waist up, but I would prefer to have it longer because I am 190 lbs and 6'2"; which the medium tall is a real good fit with only a t-shirt on. But up here in the Northwest were it's 45-50 degrees a lot of the time, the jacket could be a little warmer for my liking.
Overall a good jacket, but only mesh lining on the inside makes me feel LL Bean is cutting corners to save on cost.

I got this jacket for a summer study abroad in Ireland, but it has been raining almost consistently before leaving so I have got some use out of it. The jacket is very comfortable and keeps me warm and dry. The ability to hide the hood is a big plus for days when it had stopped raining, but was still chilly enough to need the jacket.
I cannot complain about anything so far, and I can tell the quality should make this jacket last me a long time.

I work for the Postal Service and this is by far the best raingear I had ever purchased. It keeps you dry, much better than the postal service has to offer. This is my second purchase of the goretex stoaway raincoat and pants after 10 years after my first purchase. You guys are the best.

From the stitching, zippers, Velcro, Gore-Tex, elastic, Logos, colors, design & overall quality well worth the $$$. I own other raingear & this one is the best of the rest. I love it.

Ordered this as a replacement for an existing LL Bean gore-tex rain jacket that I had purchased about 8-9 years ago. Ordered the same size as the existing jacket that still fits well but the new jacket was much smaller and had to be returned. Disappointed as I was excited about some of the new features, especially the stowaway hood.

My Stowaway Jacket arrived 3 days after ordering it. It was everything I ever wanted in a lightweight but roomy Gore-Tex rain jacket. Well made, well designed. It rained the day after I got it and I wore it and I stayed dry. Not surprised but still pleased!!!

This is my second Stowaway. My first died of overuse after 10 years and too much rugged climbing. It is really my only jacket for traveling and hiking, nice and light but with great waterproof qualities and plenty of storage. Lots of room inside for layering with a sweater or fleece. Breathable and with an excellent hood especially if you wear a baseball cap at the same time. Highly recommended.

My first Stowaway Jacket was a subliminal experience. On coast walking in a gale in Cornwall 5 or 6 years ago I stayed DRY (One of 3 of our group of 20...the other 2 had Stowaway Coats...who were not soaked). Since then I have worn this jacket on many wet trips. Because it is starting to look a little frayed I decided to buy another one. I am disappointed with the fit--short and too snug for several thin layers. The vertical pockets are awkward and too snug for my camera. But the deal breaker is the one-way zipper. Absolutely love the old two-way zipper that allows you to let in some cool air from the bottom. I will be returning the jacket.

I am 5' 10" and about 155 lbs. The medium was perfect size. I loved the adjustable and elastic wrist fitting. The inner and outer breast pockets are handy. It is very light. The lining in the neck is most comfortable. The hood is comfortable with a hat on. I wore it x-country skiing and I was comfortable and dry. Perfect for everyday use.
