I originally bought this clock in November of 2014 - I am now sending the second one back. For $50 this is overpriced and unreliable. I'm really disappointed in the quality and wondering whether or not the alarm will go off doesn't make for a good nights sleep either. This should be pulled.

Rated 4 out of 5 by booksandtea Very nice clock - easy to read without glasses
I like the design, size, shape and the pretty yellow color. I also very much like the analog face and the back lighting. My only complaint is that I wish I could set the alarm for only the blinking light without the bell. (I can set the bell, without the light.) That is the only reason I rated the clock with three stars instead of four.

I visited a Bean retail store, and, saw the clock. The soft glow face seemed like a plus so I carefully checked to see how it glowed in darkness. Glowed nicely. I bought it, took it home , and, plugged it in. The clock glowed, but, the clocked hands never moved from the start and for two days after. Back it went.

I love it and don't use the alarm feature. The retro look is exactly what I was looking for. I've owned it for several years and now the plastic color is fading, but it still functions well.

No indicator that alarm is on or off. Also alarm does not distinguish between AM or PM. Example: set the alarm at 4 o?clock and it will ring at 4AM and 4PM.

We recently bought a pale green Moonbeam clock for our bedroom. We really love this clock! It is everything that we thought it would be. There is really no way that you could oversleep with the unique alarm system that this clock has...first a soft, blinking light to wake you up gently -- and if you don't respond, a loud or soft bell sounds for a short while. (you choose)...And if you STILL do not want to get up, a handy "snooze" button on top of the clock, which you may use three times. This clock is electric...but has a backup battery, so you will never be let down by the clock when telling time, or getting up on time....
The color of this clock is so lovely...perfect for spring. We liked it so much that we bought a second clock in darker blue, which we put in our guest room. We hope that our guests will enjoy it as much as we do!.
I highly recommend these clocks, for personal use, or for gifts. You can't go wrong with one, and they are worth every penny of the price.

Some things to know:
This clock is a bit larger than it appears in the photos. This made me happy, as I was pleased with its easy-to-read large face, but is something to consider if you have a particularly small bedside table.
Also loved the soft backlight. Great for knowing the time when woken in the middle of the night. Did I really let the cat out at 4:25 a.m.? Yup. But the light is not so bright to be distracting.
Hate flashing digital numbers when I lose power - the clock face gets rid of the analog, and the battery back up makes sure your time stays accurate.
Stylish clock goes well with my retro arts and crafts decor, too.

Very nice alarm clock from its design and the ways it's looks bedside to the "moon beam" light and ability of the combo choice of bell / light. Like the soft lighted dial to check the time during the night without having to push a button. Nice color choices.

LL Bean Moonbeam Clock review
I purchased the moonbeam clock because I was taken by its appearance and features, so much so that I never noticed it was a corded clock. :-)
I returned it primarily because I was so startled by its bell on Low that I never noticed its gently illuminating LED feature. The other reasons were that its cord took up valuable space on my nightstand and I find that battery-operated clocks are much more practical in the bedroom.
If you, too, are sound and sight-challenged you may be happier with the Big Ben battery-operated model whose alarm on Low is an absolute delight.
