Rated 4 out of 5 by LowHillsDrifter Great Size Options but need to work on dye quality
I've been buying these pants for over 4 years now. I'm a skinny guy with long legs and with the "Supersizing" of the average american waist it's really really, tough to find clothing companies that offer 29-31in waist options. LL Bean's selection in term of size options is fantastic, second to none! You'd have to go to a tailor to get more options. Kudos to LL Bean on this front!
The "colorfast-ness" of the fabric is, well, poor. Theses pants end up with fade spots and overall fading in just 4-5 months...so I end up buying another 3-4 pairs every 4-5 months. I've tried everything I know of to keep them from fading so quickly (cold water wash only, air dry only, "color safe" detergents etc.) but nothing seems to help.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Aleph Well made, but fit is long versus other brands
I ordered a 30" inseam, my usual for chinos from Dockers and other brands. After the L.L. Bean chinos arrived, I tried them on, and they were about an inch too long. I measured the inseam and it measured 30", so I measured the waist to crotch and compared it with my other brand chinos. That was the difference; the L.L. Bean chinos were longer from waist to crotch. This echoed another reviewer, McGee, who wrote:
"My husband ordered these chinos and opted to have them altered in length to a 29.5 inch inseam -- his usual length. Evidently these pants are cut differently and his usual 29.5 inch inseam made the pants way, way too long (over an inch too long!). Initially, we thought that L L Bean had made a mistake in the alteration. They had not. It was absolutely accurate. However, these pants must be exceptionally long from the waist to the crotch. So, we will now have to take them to a local tailor to have them re-done. Just a warning -- great pants, but your usual measurements may not work. It might be better not to opt for the alterations unless you have tried them on in a store."

I bought 2 pairs for my husband because the description indicated they would look great straight out of the dryer. I laundered them carefully but they look terrible and need even more than touch up pressing. Very disappointed.

I have purchased these pants in the past, the quality of fabric and coloring has changed for the worst. I purchased three pairs of these pants this week, after two days of wearing them the color has faded around the outline of my wallet. Very disappointed in the product, I will not buy again.

My husband ordered these chinos and opted to have them altered in length to a 29.5 inch inseam -- his usual length. Rated 4 out of 5 by DrBean Great pants, but wish they didn't fade so quickly
I like the way these pants fit and look. I really love that they have odd waist sizes. Most manufacturers only have even sizes, and two inches is a lot when you are in between even sizes where one size is too loose and the other is too tight. These let you get a pair that fit just right.
They do leave some room for improvement, though. I wish the zipper were a little longer. Also, the pants fade too quickly. I always wash mine in cold water and I don't wash them very often, but the colors fade and make them look old way to quickly.

Bought three pairs, not crazy about the price, but with LL Bean reputation I decided to splurge.
6 months later:
These pants are comfy, but thats about it. First few times out of the dryer they look great - now they require an iron.....
Color does not hold at all - creases look like the fabric is 10 years years old - frayed, balled up and and just look old.
I have other brand pants that are 3-5 years old that look much better than the LL Bean pants.
Sorry, I won't be ordering any more of these.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Steve6000 Zipper Sticks in Up Position
The zipper on these pants sticks in the up position. I am able to get it loose, with time and patience, but it should not stick on a new pair of pants.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MSULLBeaner Poor Quality
The zippers are made of plastic or nylon and will not hold up. I ordered two pair and one was defective out of the box. LLBean apparently objected to my first attempt to review this item so will be interesting to see if they allow this review to post. Plastic zippers is not the quality I expect from LL Bean

I really hope you read this L.L. Bean. I love the fit of these pants and hope to continue to wear them. However, there is a huge flaw that has required me to exchange these pants time after time (three times already) in the span of one year.
The seam that attaches the pants, side pockets, and waist is very weak and rips VERY easily. It's almost like one weak thread holds these pants together.
L.L. Bean, please take this feedback seriously and fix this major flaw. If you need further explanation where these pants are falling apart, please e-mail me.
I don't normally review items but now I have to exchange a fourth pair of these pants.
