The best Cargo ever.
I have been wearing Cargo's for 10+ years and this is the first one that has all the right items, like button pockets, zipper safety pocket, and it is not bulky. They wash really well. I will be getting more of them.

Rated 2 out of 5 Did LL Bean change the fabric?
Years ago, I purchased a pair of Allagash cargo pants which were made with a heavy material. I still have these pasts and have worn the heack out of them. a few years ago, I purchased what possibly may be the newer version, which looked more like a lighter "ripstop" material, which I do not like. In fact after a wash the pants became to short to wear. I donated them to a clothes drive.
Bring back the heavier Allagash Cargos please. They wore well and were simply "bomb proof", more of a military grade cargo. Thanks for considering.

Three months and the waist button popped off. Sent back to LL Bean as defective and got a replacement pair. These pants are a somewhat heavier material, but all and all durable, stylish and not stiff or excessively baggy. I don't like the side by side hand pockets. One has a zipper and the other doesn't - both sides, right next to one another. Unless you're being hung upside down or tumbling around on the ground, I can't envision any normal sized object falling out of the pocket that would justify having a zipper for a hand pocket. These long pants are a descent, yet kinda snug waist fit. I'm a 35 waist, which was super tight on me, but a 36 in these was better although still on the snug side. The waist loosens up mildly after wearing a few times after washing, but the shorts version, same waist size and the waist has stretched a lot. You'd think they'd be one and the same, but they're inconsistent construction. I had $10 vouchers to use towards these cargo pants, which took the edge off the unjustified hefty price tag. I'd never pay full price for these.

Have owned these pants for less than 3 months and the front button fell off. Poorly made!

by WesJG Cheap fabric
I'm about to return a 2nd pair of these pants for the same reason, the fabric own the seat ripped through. Imagine my embarrass when I bend to look at a lower shelf only to have a 5 inch tear appear on my backside. The fabric of these pants is completely inadequate. Do not buy these pants, they aren't worth it.
It's too bad because I like the style of the pants and fit. I won't buy another pair, returning 2 pair for the same reason is 2 pairs to many.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MrBeanJeans Color Fades, Fabric wears poorly, Great Design
I just bought a new pair of Allagash cargo pants, so I can't be too unhappy with them. I think they are, by far, one of the best designed cargo pants that I have ever owned. I like that the cargo flaps button down because this keeps them from getting too wrinkled, plus many other design features. However, there are some real issues with these pants. The color fades very quickly such that it is barely recognizable after a few months. Also, after a year of wear, the fabric is tearing in the front of the thighs (I am not heavy, nor am I hard on my clothes). These tears just seem to show up, and are not because of extra force, etc. Also, the fabric is threadbare in certain areas and the cuffs are frayed. My suggestion is to keep the design but ditch the fabric and use a colorfast dye.

Rated 1 out of 5 Ripped Seat
I've had these pants about a year and a half. I only wear them in the colder months as I wear short pants whenever possible. I probably have not worn these pants more than a couple dozen times. I put them on today as the temps were in the 40's. I bent down to pick up my cat and the pants ripped in the seat at the bottom of the left rear pocket where the stitching turns the corner. The pants are not tight on me at all and I need a belt to keep them up. The material is too thin to hold up. I would not buy these again. For the price you'd think they'd last much longer.

I read the reviews and can't believe nobody has mentioned the zipper on these pants. I loved the pants otherwise but the zipper is a big problem, or maybe I should call it a little problem. The zipper on the pair I bought is 6 1/4" long, which makes them over an inch shorter of what is normally on a man's pair of pants. I don't know what someone was thinking putting in such a short zipper. Might not be an issue for a 5' person, but at 6', 240 pounds and wearing 42" waist pants, the zipper was close to useless. Had to send them back.

These pants are lightweight yet sturdy and dry quickly for cotton pants. I work in agriculture on the Texas High Plains and appreciate cool but durable clothing. The fabric is tough but not heavy and can take abuse. The sizing is right on. The cargo pockets are well made and durable and the fact that they button closed (rather than velcro) means they stay closed until I want them open. The only three demerits I can give are easily corrected by LL Bean. The first is that there should be 7 belt loops rather than the 5 provided. The loops seem to accommodate a 2-inch belt, but are a bit "loose" for a 1.5 inch belt. Who wears a 2-inch belt with field pants? The final improvement would be to make the zippered pockets close when down rather than open when down. Gravity is constantly pulling the zippers open, so what is the use of having a zipper if it is never closed? Overall these are excellent field pants and I will buy some more.
