Finally have to replace my LL Bean Original Book Pack that I have used since 1994. I used it through high school and college and then as a diaper bag and airplane carry on. It has been over the river, through the woods, and around the world. Finally some of the inside started to dry rot and leave flaky stuff on my clothes, and so I am here at llbean.com today to order another Original Book Pack for my upcoming trip to Colorado! May it last well into my 60s!

Rated 5 out of 5áby MoMof3roughones 5 years and still going strong!
I bought this for my daughter in 1st grade and told her it had to work till middle school. I really didn't believe it would last 5 years, but it is still in great shape! My daughter is very rough with her things so this speaks a lot about this backpack!

Rated 1 out of 5áby Momof6littlefeet One year of preschool and it has holes.
My 4 year old got this in the fall and by the end of the year it has multiple holes on the bottom near the seams. I am not sure if it is the printed material or what. The kids have 3 other solid colors backpacks from junior to deluxe that have lasted for years. I figured this would last until at least the end of first grade and then only because of it looking dirty it is a lighter colored butterfly print that seems to be discontinued.

áby loghomelady First Aid & Survival Pack
Living, driving and hiking in a remote mountain area of Northern California, the need for a first aid and/or survival kit is paramount. I drive a Jeep Wrangler with a German Shepherd in back, so space is at a premium, but I needed something visible and readily accessible, not jammed underneath a seat. This book/back pack in RED fit the bill perfectly, and with the embroidered 1st Aid in white, the purpose and contents are obvious. This hangs from the DRIVER'S SIDE rollbar, above the wheel well, making it easy to see and grab without blocking my vision or consuming precious space. Being nylon should make it easy to clean. I hope to never have to use this, but it is there if needed. Thank you, LL Bean!!

Rated 5 out of 5áby LoveTheBookPack Graduating from 8th Grade
My daughter is graduating from 8th grade this weekend.... and her LL Bean backpack from kindergarten is still going strong! She puts it through a lot - and it still looks great. Sadly, I think we'll be getting a larger one for high school that is designed to carry a laptop. But this one could probably last for many years more. Thanks for making a quality product.

I got my book bag when I was about 12. Now 21 years later the color is still great and the only thing worn out is the zip. It took a lot of use and multiple trips through the washer. I would recommend these bags to anyone looking for a good quality bag. All of my kids have bags from here and I have since sold my husband on them too.

Rated 5 out of 5áby jmahrens Extremely pleased
I got this backpack for my first grader at the beginning of the school year. Even after a year of being drug on the bus, being thrown on the floor, and being stepped on this backpack looks like brand new and is functioning perfectly. We are going to get several years of use out of this bag! It is also large enough to carry a folder, several library books, shoes/boots, and snowpants. I am extremely pleased with the purchase.

Brilliant blue is a gorgeous color, and we love this backpack.
We have used it three times, and the front zipper came right off. The reflector also scratched pretty easily. Not sure if I am going to get a new one or just get credit for something else. We had a zipper problem with the Jr. Backpack where it got stuck. That was only after 4 months of use. So disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5áby MrsH927 Great! But could use a little more
We have loved this backpack. Purchased for my daughter in 2014. She was entering first grade and her current one could not hold a folder completely, this was the perfect size for her (although she is tall for her age).
Comfortable.. I never hear complains on comfort
Washes well..put through washing machine over Christmas, Spring, and Summer breaks- always came out clean and new looking.
Capacity..Holds her 1.5'' Binder, 2 Workbooks, 2 slim books. Plastic pencil case with room to spare.
Wear/Tear.. I read these reviews of people that have these bags for all of Elementary school.. ours has lasted 2 years. There are holes on the bottom side and need to be replaced. Maybe it is my child and her rough nature :/ but I expected for it to last longer.
Bottle Holder...or lack of. I knew this when i purchased it, didn't think it would matter then but it would be nice to have it.
Overall I would recommend this for the kiddos. I considered buying two more, one to replace my daughter's and one for my soon to be pre-K student. We decided to go with a different brand for the pattern selection. I still feel this is an excellent product and a great price for what you get. I've seen backpacks at local superstores for similar price and I know they could not last through a full school year.
LLBean, please consider adding a bottle pocket at this size, maybe having a selection with and one without the bottle pocket. :)

Rated 3 out of 5áby MommaKatie Disappointed in COLOR
We've been LL Bean shoppers for years now. We have four children (all rough boys) and wanted the best back packs for them! The LL Bean line is some of the sturdiest around. However, the color choices are less than appealing. One of my children was in need of a larger back pack for school (his junior size one is still in fantastic condition but is no longer large enough to meet his needs). He was SO EXCITED when we discovered there was a green option in the original size. When it arrived in the mail today we were both really disappointed. I guess we both assumed it was the same shade of green as his junior back pack, but it's more of a neon green/yellow. He'll use it because he has no other choice, but he's not very happy about the color. I'm not very happy either. I know in the grande scheme of things back pack color isn't the biggest deal, but when you have a little boy who wants to have his favorite color just like his brothers have theirs it really matters!! LL Bean needs to seriously consider getting better colors!!!!! I mean, seriously, no classic green in the back packs??? They don't even have the lime green they used to offer. Big bummer!
