I purchased a Deluxe Rolling Book Pack last year for my son starting Kindergarten. He has special needs and is unable to wear a traditional back pack. We went through 3 "big-box-store" rolling back packs the previous year and I knew I needed something of higher quality. This back pack is amazing. He used it all last year through wind, rain, snow and heat. The wheels have held up well. We have had no zipper problems or problems with with retractable handle. It easily holds snowpants, shoes, books, snacks and everything else he might bring home from school. It is nice to have two big pockets to keep the clothes and books separate during the "wet" seasons. He has drug it up and down the steps of the bus too many times to count. This year when school started again I took a damp rag and wiped the outside surface clean and it was as though he had a new back pack again. Well worth the money. If this one ever fails I will certainly be buying another.

Rated 1 out of 5 by epnav Disappointing, poor quality
I bought this bag for my daughter last Fall. It was too big for her locker, so I saved it until this year (it was monogrammed so I could not return it).
Within the first week the strap broke and the wheel broke. When you spend a hundred bucks on a backpack, you just don't expect it to fall apart in a week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by happysong04 sturdy and stylish backpacks
I ordered the purple plaid and blue wheeled backpacks for my 2nd and 5th grader. Its only been a week, but the kids tell me that the wheels on these packs roll smoother than their previous ones. They can fit a large 2" inch binder, several textbooks, and a pencil box with room to spare. The only problem we've encountered was the shoulder straps got tangled up in the wheel on the first day my son used it. If you aren't planning to use the back straps, just unhook the bottom, and shove the straps into the Velcro pocket to prevent them from snagging on the wheels or just shorten the black dangling straps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mama523 Great, Sturdy Backpack
I bought this backpack for my daughter when she was going into 4th grade because she was walking to school and had a significant increase in homework. This backpack was walked (and bounced) full of books over curbs to school and back for two years and still looks great and works great. The moving parts -- handle and wheels -- are still going strong. So happy that I invested in this rolling backpack. My younger daughter will start using it this year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by RAnthony Handle length is not only for very short folks
I have been carrying an over-the-shoulder bag for years, and unfortunately my shoulder is now feeling the effects (I'm 47). While looking for a rolling bag, I was concerned about the reviews of this bag & how short the handle length was for anyone beyond 5' tall. With the free return policy (I'm an LL Bean cardholder), I appreciate the LL Bean quality & thought I'd give it a try.
Ignore the reviews about the handle height! I'm not tall by any means (5'10"), but pulling this bag is not a problem at all! Might be a problem for someone over say 6'2", but don't be discouraged from buying if you're under 6' or under.
Only gave it 4 stars as I'm not sure how the nylon zippers will hold up, but with the satisfaction guarantee, I've got nothing to lose.

by BachelorofChemistry Deluxe Book Bag
The book bag is huge. I currently have two one-inch binders, four notebooks, two folders, three text books, three paperbacks, a pen case, and a planner in it with room to spare. The back pack straps come off easily and tuck away into the back of the pack so that they won't be ran over by the wheels. The handle is comfortable to hold and doesn't go down without pressing the button. The monogram looks beautiful and the color (Ice Blue) is very vibrant. The only problem is that if you want the monogram in the correct order (first initial, middle initial, and last initial) you have to put the middle and last initial in backwards with the "Flare" monogram. I wanted mine in order (INT), so I put in I for first, T for middle, and N for last and it came out perfect! I love the reflective stripe on the front, I'll be going to a University in two weeks and walking around campus with this bag will make things much easier.
The only problem I had is that the pack was shipped UPS. It came in within a week, but the box was dented (the bag was fine) and delivered at 6:00 p.m., which is rather late.
Overall this pack is amazing and I can't wait to start using it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mom2CJs Good bag,only 2 drawbacks
The bag held up pretty well through 4th grade. Only thing that needed to be replaced is the straps with the hook so it can be attached to the bag to be worn on the back. The bag is it gets pretty dirty especially during the winter with all the snow and mud,and when things get spilled on or in it. The unfrtunate part is there's no real way to was it. Unless you use laundry detergent and a hose or the shower. The other drawback is since she is going to a school within walking distance this year with it's base weight of 5lbs, I don't see how a 10 year old 5th grader will be able to carry that plus books etc comfortably on a bike. Even though I told her she wasn't getting a new one until the start of Jr High when I ordered it last year,I am ordering her a regular deluxe backpack so she can ride to school when the weather permits. It is a great bag though. Her figure skating coach uses the rolling bag for her rink bag and her skate team uses and abuses the regular deluxe bag as a mandatory bag for all team competitions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Indiaza For adults who want to use this roller for travel
Traveler here. The size is right. The wheels needed and appreciated. The handle is too short for anyone over 5'4". The straps do tuck in but if you travel like it do--roller to through the airport and then on the shoulders for boarding because of the tight squeeze in economy--you'll want to get the straps out sooner. Water bottle compartment would be okay, but more importantly little zip compartments for small items (hand sanitizer, dental floss, a small comb) would be very helpful--you know how it is in an airport. LL Bean should know that what we adults want is to come way under the flight size requirements--largest size computer s/b a netbook,w/ power cord, charger, crushable clothes, mini-bottles have to fit in and come out easily. I should be able to travel to India for two weeks with this bag. As a scholar, I will bring one dictionary and digitize all other sources. Will try this later in the fall. I'm 5' 3 3/4"; the handle just makes it. Any shorter and I'd have sent it back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Basis1 Wheeled backpack works great
I purchased this bag to carry my stuff back and forth to work. I'd been having shoulder pain because of the weight of the bag I'd been using.
This backpack has plenty of room to carry everything I need, the handle extends / retracts with no problem, and the wheels move smoothly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LongReachOffspring Great size
Just received it and it looks to be made of quality material, good wheels, and 3 very large compartments. We were able to fit binders, books, a lunch box, pencil bag, clarinet and case and a sweatshirt with some room to spare. BEAUTIFUL print with the Starry Nights - a big hit with my daughter.
Cons: No water bottle pocket on the outside of the bag for easy access (and to keep leaky water bottles away from all the books) and the handle does not extend very far. My 5 ft 11 year old maybe be squatting by the end of the school year to pull.
