Rated 5 out of 5 by KathrynJSheedy Daughter loves it!
We absolutely love her new book bag. The colors are bright and it is a big book bag. We do have 2 complaints though...1) there is no side pockets to hold things like bottled water and 2) the embroidery was a lot smaller than we were expecting! Other than that she loves it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by TBone1987 Buy nice or buy twice
We have been living with character backpacks for years now. Normally one year of school and we're ready for a new one. Last year, we bought a particular character bag which lasted barely half the year. The one we replaced it with, only lasted a few days before the zipper broke. We bought a third one to get through the end of school, and it looked like it was put through the mill. This year we decided to get a really sturdy one, and this fits the bill. Our daughter picked out the design she wanted, and we couldn't be happier. It has been in service for close to a month now and still looks brand new. The material is very strong, and the colors vibrant. They are even prettier in person. She loves it. The bag is well padded and easy for her to carry. This will be with us for a long time. (My college bound daughter kept looking for a bag for the start of school, but couldn't find one she liked or we felt would hold up well. After seeing her sister's, she decided she wanted one too, so she picked out the carbon flower one, and loves it. Winner on all counts!) Definitely recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by meglet going strong almost 19 yrs later
I bought this pack during my sophomore year of college. Almost 19 yrs later and this pack is still completely intact and going strong. It has been my stand by airplane carry on bag, weekend bag, camping bag, festival bag, diaper bag, and of course school bag. There are absolutely no holes, tears, or broken straps. Just dirt and scuff marks, are it's only battle scars. Now I'm looking for a good sturdy pack for my high school son, so of course I am back looking at LL Bean packs.

Rated 4 out of 5 Nice backpack, but no space for H2O
We were really excited to use our new LL Bean backpack this morning for the first day of 4th grade; however, when I went pack my son's things, I realized, there is no space for a water bottle on the side. :-( Otherwise, it's spacious and sturdy, but we really miss the water bottle holder. My son takes a bottle everyday and I am worried to put it in the pack for fear it might leak and ruin his folders.

Rated 3 out of 5 by HeatherWP missing a water bottle side pocket
This is a very nicely constructed backpack but the lack of a waterbottle mesh side pocket is a let down. I didn't notice it at first or would have picked a different back pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MrsDawnP Solidly constructed fun designs!
Ordered two of these for my girls going into Kindergarten and 4th grade. The girls LOVED the designs - looked better in person than they did online! These are solidly built backpacks - not the cheap, flimsy ones you find at the discount stores. Very pleased with these backpacks!

Rated 4 out of 5 by peachmom One major flaw
My daughter really wanted this backpack for school since it wasn't for "little girls". The pack is plenty roomy (actually too large for her needs) and has a great organizer pocket inside. The zippers work smoothly and the straps are nicely padded. The one HUGE flaw with this pack is the lack of a water bottle compartment! Every pack should have this feature. Had I not already labeled the pack with her name I would likely send this back for this reason alone. However, I completely overlooked it until the first morning of school when I went to put her water bottle in....ugh! I noticed the "super deluxe" pack does have this feature, but is also larger which would be too cumbersome for a 3rd grader to lug around. Next time I'll look more closely.

Love the deluxe backpack (three of my kids have one) and the fact that they stand by their product and if something happens to it, you can send it in for free and have it replaced.
I bought our most recent one on Monday night and had it by Wednesday afternoon (I live in NH).

Rated 4 out of 5 by iiLLBeanii Nice backpack with some issues
Overall this backpack is great for kids in middle school and 4th and 5th grade students. The pros are its nice and comfortable and also has a lot of room for books, binders etc. I really like the audio port so I can listen to music on the go with my iPod. The only con I have about this is that the straps are very close together and can get on your neck if your wearing a tank top so beware. Also the padded back and shoulder part is ok doesn't do much effort but it helps minimize the weight a little bit. Overall this backpack is great and I definitely recommend buying this for your son or daughter :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by A312 Nice durable pack, not the best design for me.
I have had this backpack for a few years. I used it for school everyday. It is still in great shape other than some dirt and pen marks (the fabric hides them well). The durability is the best feature of this pack in my opinion. This pack can hold a lot! The shoulder straps are comfortable (as long as you don't have just a tank top on). The waist strap doesn't seem to do much, because it is not padded. I am so glad that the loop was added to the top of the pack to hang easily in a locker. The organization panel is useful and the reflective material is helpful. The reason I am no longer using it is I wanted to switch to a messenger bag. I got the LLBean Classic Campus messenger bag.
Overall the pack is well built and good for middle school students. The design lacks a laptop sleeve. Before purchasing this pack you should know that it is more square than most packs. This is a great high capacity backpack, yet it is sometimes tricky to shove into my locker even when half full. I give it 4 stars, because its design doesn't work too well for me, but it is a great pack.
