Rated 1 out of 5 by NBSussex Waste of money
Purchased this bag this past summer for my son to go to kindergarden. A few weeks ago I noticed several holes in the bottom. The fabric seems to be very cheap and plastic like. Called customer service and they were very helpful and mailed me a new one. However he has been using the new for a few weeks now and tonight I noticed a hole in it. The only thing that he carries in this bag is a lunch box and 1 duo-tang so this should not be happening. My son loves the bag because his initials are on it but it is definitely not worth the money.

My son & I absolutely LOVE this backpack! Great space inside for my 2nd grader. Not too big, yet not too small. :)

Rated 1 out of 5 by RunningGirl01 Do not order
I was very excited about receiving this bag based on the reviews, but once I received, I am very disappointed. This is not the quality I expect from LL Bean. The material was very thin, there were not enough pockets for everything, and it was poorly sewn. The highlight was the customer service was very helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JBELLA Most AWESOME backpack ever!!
I cannot say enough good things about L.L. Bean backpacks!! I am mother of 3, and all of my children have had nothing but L.L. Bean backpacks since they started kindergarten. I have never been disappointed! The only reason for replacements was to order a larger size, or when our oldest started college, (with the backpack we had purchased when she started 6th grade), decided that having initials on her backpack wasn't very cool for a college student;) Lesson learned. Her younger sister, that just started 6th grade, is using it now. We just placed a soccer ball patch over the initials:) Backpack looks like new, and I am sure will last through high school again. Getting ready to purchase a new one for DS, I told him he could pick one from L.L. Bean. I won't purchase a back pack from anywhere else. The old ones are still used for hauling things around on trips. Definitely an investment!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by NovaScotiaLLBeanFan Will only buy LL Bean Book Packs
Our kids have always used LL Bean Book Packs, probably because I used them in high school and they never wear out.
We purchased this one for our little one starting school. I was a bit concerned it would be too big as it looked pretty big on her back the first time we tried it on, but it's great. Holds her LL Bean lunch box and everything she needs for school, and she will be able to put snow bibs in and change of clothes too during the winter. It will definitely grow with her. I wouldn't get anything bigger than this for a small one, I would probably put her in a smaller one if I could, but then they need space to take stuff to school. So this was the one to get.
I like that we can fold the material covering the zipper back so that she can easily unzip the bag. We haven't had a use to date for the front pouch but I'm sure it will come in handy at some point.
Love the prints - really cute this year. We got her the flowered pink design and she loves it.
Only complaint was matching lunch boxes sold out so early, we had to go with our third choice. We shopped early too and even went to the store. Would have been nice to have a had a set, but not a huge deal.
Great bags, great quality - highly recommend.

This is a fantastic backpack. It is rugged and excellent quality. This is the second year my son has used it and it looks like new. We have stuffed it to the max and it still holds strong. I highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Daniela878 Very durable, but color faded
I first would like to say that this backpack made it through my son's second grade year. For that alone, I give it for 4 stars. It was dragged, dropped, thrown and lost many many times and held up fine. My only complaint is the red faded to a pink color.
Customer service was awesome, they offered a refund, but because it was personalized and had sentimental value, we decided to keep it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MidwestMom44 Horrible straps and cheap fabric
We bought new backpacks this year to replace the ones we bought from LL Bean three years ago. What happened?? The straps on the this bag are so uncomfortable! They are thin and stiff, and the backpack does not stay on the back -- it slides off.
Also, the fabric used is completely different from what it used to be. It's a vinyl-y, cheap fabric.
So much for LL Bean being our go-to place to buy school backpacks.

Rated 2 out of 5 I love LLBean as a company, but awful straps
I purchased this bag for my 7 yr-old daughter.
Pros: solid, durable, pretty color, as pictured
Cons: the straps make it so uncomfortable that after a week of use I am going to go buy her a different bag. I can not listen to her complain anymore. The material for the straps is difficult to bend. The bag won't stay on her back. She left crying today (she was tired)
LLBean has always been an amazing company. My review is not in any way negative about them.

by MumCat Will Always Get an LLBean Bags for School.
I had one growing up in Maine as did a lot of my classmates. When it was time for my oldest to go to school back in 2010 I knew I had to get him one too. Now that my middle child started school this year i got her one as well. My sons is on his 4th school year with it still works just as great as year one.
We have a red and a pink hoping LLBean brings back the purple for next school year so I can get my youngest her favorite color too.
This is the Picture from the first day of school walking to the bus stop with their LLBean Bags.
