Rated 5 out of 5 by emom25 Great for preschool
We are on our 2nd year using this backpack for our oldest son in preschool. I'm about to buy one for our 2-year-old who has outgrown his SkipHop backpack. His lunchbox fits fine since that's basically all he needs to take everyday to school besides a change of clothes. I'd say the only thing that has shown wear & tear is that one of the monogrammed letters has partially unraveled.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mamaof2girls GREAT backpack!!!
We have had no issues with this back pack. Actually my oldest is in Kindergarten and this is her 3rd year using the same one. We are buying another for my soon to be preschooler. They are made to last and are a great size for a little one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ReadingMama Great buy!!
I ordered this wonderful little backpack for my 3-year-old son, who will be starting preschool this fall. As soon as we opened the package, he pulled it out and immediately started filling it with toys. He wears it everywhere, and it's the perfect size for him to grow into and be able to use for at least through kindergarten. We haven't had it very long, but it appears very sturdy and well-made, and I love LL Bean's guarantee! You can't go wrong with this backpack!

Rated 3 out of 5 by LTNJ Much too small.
This should not be sold as a school backpack. It barely holds my son's lunchbox. He can use it this year in preschool, but it will be too small even for what they need for kindergarten.

Rated 1 out of 5 by JillD Broken zipper after one month
I had mistakenly believed that these junior backpacks would be the same quality as the backpack I had carried in college. Wow was I wrong.
The fabric feels cheap and the zippers broke off after one month.
Further - I guess no one in the LL Bean department actually has a preschooler. If they did, they would've added a logical place for a sippy cup, like an elasticized pocket on the side.
Overall a big disappointment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MedicTonia One of my best purchases!
We have two of these bags in our household. My oldest daughter got hers for preschool. This is her fourth year with the bag. Two years of preschool, kindergarten, and now first grade! This bag hold her normal size 3 ring binder along with her "stuff"! This bag is in great shape and still looks new! She even uses it for all trips.
My 3 y/o daughter just got hers for preschool and loves it! The teachers like it since we had her name put on it. She always knows her bag, because she can recognize her name!

Rated 5 out of 5 by rytontym Sturdy, Well-Sized Book Pack
My 4-year-old son has been wearing his book pack jr to preschool since the beginning of the semester. It fits him perfectly. He can put it on easily and the little ties on the zippers help him open it easily, too. The pack is roomy enough for some spare clothes and his school projects, and I can see I'll have room for a lunch bag when he goes to kindergarten. I opted for the monogram and it looks great.
I really dig the reflective strip on the back. That's a big plus in my book. I also like the oversize loop at the top, which makes it easy for him to hang his pack on his hook at school and again when he gets home. And that's what makes this bag so great: he can do everything he needs to do with it (put it on, open/close it, and hang it up) by himself.

Rated 2 out of 5 by goomer zipper broke today after mere 9 weeks of mild use!
This backpack is very cute and seemingly well made. The zipper, on the other hand, is lousy! Since we bought this bag it has been hard to zip without it snagging the material. If it's been hard for me, I can only imagine how hard or frustrating it has been for my little first grader!! The thing is, we hardly really even put anything in the pack, so it's not as if the thing has been overfilled or whatnot. Frustrating!
This morning, the zipper snagged so badly that upon efforts to loosen the thing, it BROKE! Not a good thing to happen on a school morning when we have no other backup bags for our son to use! I was so upset, so now we are returning it and I suppose we will hopefully just get the thing exchanged for another and hope for better luck on the next one. Ugh.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jess123 Adorable bag in a perfect size!
This backpack has become my go-to birthday gift for 2-3 year olds. It's the perfect little size for that age, but still gives them a few more years to grow with it too. The bag looks adorable with all monogram styles (I've ordered a few) but the athletic font has become a personal favorite.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MrsAPark Nice looking, but not durable.
I think this is a cute bag, especially w/ the monnogramming. The reflector strip was scratched upon arrival, then got worse from there. With the junior backpacks, I feel they should be able to withstand some falls. We are putting them on Preschoolers and Kindergarteners, they are not super responsible at that age. Kids get scuffs, but their bookbags shouldn't look so worn.
