I just purchased my second jacket, after all these years. I have had my jacket for at least 8 or 9 years now and it is still going strong! The only reason I bought a new one is because my old one was dingy and well-worn. This is a worthy, long-lasting investment that I wear year-round, even living in New England and working outside year round! A+++++

Rated 5 out of 5 by BLKuffda Nice warm windproof wrap
This is a great hooded jacket. The green color is nice. It is pretty thin and easy to travel with, but that doesn't take away from its warmth. Nice pockets. Seems well made. I originally ordered an XL figuring I would wear other layers under it, but the XL was still too big. I exchanged for a large. The large for me is big enough to wear layers, but small enough that I could grab it on my way out the door while wearing a t-shirt. The water repellency is good, and water just beads up on the surface. I would highly recommend this jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Vermonter4Life My 70 year old Dad's FAVORITE Jacket EVER!!
I can't tell you how much my Dad loves this jacket. I really thought I had already written a review on this because EVERY time I see him, he tells me how much he loves this jacket.
He lives in UP, Upstate NY.....(almost Canada). They get alot of snow and he uses this jacket in the fall, winter and springtime. I actually witnessed him using this jacket to snowblow. He says the snow doesn't saturate the jacket and it just rolls off. He loves everything about the jacket, especially the hood and the large pockets. I bought him a tall. He's 5"10 and he'd rather have things a bit longer. You can't go wrong with this jacket!

I just bought a second one and will use my older one (still looking good) for wilderness trips. I may add velcro under my chin for the hood for the backcountry. Totally windproof and not bad in a little rain. I never buy anything that is not full zip with a hood; so this was a find. I wear it around town down to the low 20's over a short sleeved shirt.

Wonderful material. But, no drawstring in the hood. That's ok if you don't mind facing the wind with one hand holding the hood closed at your throat. I had ordered a wool hooded sweatshirt that had the same lack of a drawstring. I will not order another hooded jacket unless I know that there is a drawstring in the hood.
I do hope that LLBean will correct this design flaw.

Rated 4 out of 5 by zormsk Great jacket for mildly miserable weather!
Jacket is lightweight, comfy, windproof - a big plus over other fleece outerwear I've owned - and water resistant as advertised. Sleeves are a tad long as some have noted, but I liked that feature as you could cover part of your hands if needed.
A minor complaint would be that the inseam where the sleeve attaches to the jacket seemed a bit snug while trying to put the coat on. Would love to see it gusseted. Once I got it on however, the sleeve joint was fine.
I weigh 255 lbs and lift weights, so I ordered the XXL Regular size. Seemed right on to me. Well worth the cost overall.

Rated 4 out of 5 by GeKay Great jacket -- needs hood drawstring
Great jacket. A t-shirt and this jacket is all I need from about 45 to 55 degrees F. Below 45 I need a warmer base layer; above 55, it is a bit warm when hiking and generating a lot of heat.
Only negative is the lack of a drawstring - difficult to keep hood on in strong wind blowing from the front.

This has been one of the most useful jackets I have ever owned. I live in Canada and I can wear this jacket year round in combination with other layers for incredible versatility. It blocks most of the wind but also breaths. With a good base layer, bean commando sweater and this jacket I am good to go down to -20C. If you plan on layering buy one size up. I have been wearing this jacket most of the year building houses since 2007 and it is still going. It shows a fair amount of wear now but still blocks wind. When it dies I will definitely be buying another!

I just wore mine today as the temperature was 36 degrees with a 25 mph wind, bringing the wind chill down to 27. My Wind Challenger hooded jacket kept me warm and comfortable. This was a surprise, since I am used to down jackets and heavy fleeces like Polartec 300.
This is a very versatile piece of outerwear, especially for travel. It's very light and takes up minimal room in a pack or carry-on bag. But it provides as much warmth and wind protection as most fleece-lined jackets.
Some reviewers have complained about the inability to adjust the hood or the cuffs. I found neither to be a problem: The hood is something I pop on during sudden rain or wind-- not something I expect to keep up for hours. People do come in all shapes and sizes, so this might not be a good fit for everybody. But it's definitely worth trying if you're looking for something more windproof than a fleece. I was skeptical that material as light as Wind Pro could provide good insulation. And I am happy to have been proven wrong.

I like the jacket, very warm for a light weight jacket. I read an earlier review about the sleeve opening and agree the openings are too large and fall down to your hands if the sleeves are too long. For me to get the sleeve the right length I had to go to a smaller size so the shoulders are a little narrow. However the jacket feels good and fits without a problem with the sleeve opening. One other comment I would make is regarding color, the website does not show the colors well, I suggest if you are concerned with color call customer service and speak to their very knowledgable staff, they were helpful to me.
