Rated 5 out of 5 by SDSR THE BEST
I bought this bag many years ago when it was sold as just a shoulder bag. It is the only purse I use. It has gone all over the world. I love the compartments inside & out. It goes in the washer. The inside is HUGE. I love it & want another.

Bought my first one 9 years ago (when it was just a large shoulder carryon bag). The very best travel bag ever. Things that make it fabulous:
1. The key-clip: I always know where my house or car keys are. Or the rental car keys. I clip my keys into it when my plane departs, and I when I return, there they are, easy to find for my drive home. No other purse I've ever had has had this brilliant accessory.
2. The small front zip pocket holds my cell phone if I don't have a pocket. Or it holds my zipdrive and a couple of pens.
3. The pocket underneath holds my Kindle. And a few office supplies.
4 The interior mesh pockets hold glasses/charger/hairclips. eyedrops/medication bottles.
5. The big zip pocket inside hides my more valuable papers.
6. Big space inside for wallet, book, etc
7. Back pocket holds magazine, or tickets.
8. Two side pockets hold tissues, or gum or drops for the plane.
9. Big top zipper so easy to use and always safe. Can slip a small luggage lock through the zip if you need more security.
10. Fabric is terrific. Washable. Never looks scuffed or worn.
11. Strap is wide enough and adjustable. After 7 years, I see no wear.
I have had multiple other dressy bags and designer bags, but I stopped useing them and gave them away because this is the bag I ALWAYS use, every day, for every occasion. I think this is the best product LL Bean makes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Krissie987 Perfect Travel Bag
I've been using this bag for years as a travel bag. It's large enough to hold a bottle of water, jacket, souvenirs, documents and a money/passport holder. I just purchased my second one after returning from England where I unexpectedly got sick in my bag. May sound gross, but the bag never leaked and I was able to conceal my accident all the way back to the hotel where I washed it out with laundry soap and then blow-dried it. It still has a tinge of a smell to it which is why I'm sadly replacing it, but I highly recommend it as a travel bag.

Bought this bag as a shoulder bag replacing a backpack and it is a perfect replacement. easier to get into when travelling, light weight, and comfortable to use.better than a briefcase room for a jacket or neck pad for flights.

I know this is advertised as a diaper bag, but I've used it as a purse for years. This is the third one I've bought, and I love all three. They're in different colors, and the first one which was bought 7 years ago, is still in perfect condition. I got a compliment on it while I was shopping a few days ago, and I recommended it. I will probably buy another one in a different color in the future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by D9Caterpillar It's A Diaper Bag, No, It's A Purse!
I bought one of these for a Christmas present for my bride. It was the Plum color which is stunningly beautiful. One of her colors. She has used it heavily since Christmas.
I knew she would like it...as a purse. That is because I bought her two of these in 2007 and 2008, one black and one red. In 2007, it was marketed by L.L.Bean, as a 55736NJ Black Travel Touring Bag II Large!
She likes larger purses and does load them up.
These "Carryall II Diaper Bags" are very much the same as the "large Travel Touring Bag II" L.L.Bean sold in 2007. The only difference I noted was the placement and the design of the logo. The size and location of the pockets, and the dividers are identical. The materials appear to be identical. Now they come with a changing pad.
As a diaper bag, I am less sure of its' utility. When I remember my own experience back a couple decades and I see our kids now using diaper bags, I'm thinking it is a little small. But that may just be me. I used a backpack.
Between the first two, my bride got more than 5 years service. The first one lasted about a year until the rubber sliding pad on the strap broke, and the purse was replaced by L.L. Bean, no questions and with an apology.
When the replacement came, my bride used the replacement for another year until the shoulder strap stitching unraveled. But at that time L.L.Bean had discontinued the item and could not replace it.
It was too bad because the rest of the "purse" was darn near unworn. The zippers and Velcro were just fine. The liner was fine. And, at least in her hands, it did not seem to soil easily. I did wash it on gentle cycle with an air dry and it turned out fine. We think someone with an industrial sewing machine could stitch the strap into place right through the outer shell and liner.
After the December, 2012 catalog came out and looking carefully at the item pictures and description, I decided to order one for Christmas, even though the cost was now more than twice as much.
When it arrived, I compared it to the old ones and saw that they were the same except for L.L.Bean marketing. So, based on the performance of her previous ones and knowing L.L.Bean might discontinue it again, I bought two more!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Bostonienne Just too small to be useful.
I wanted to like this diaper bag because I love LL Bean and thought the style would be good for both me and my husband. Unfortunately it's just too small for more than diapers, wipes, and maybe one bottle. Once you add burp cloths, a change of outfit, and a nursing cover it's totally stuffed. Not to mention the inside bottle pockets only accommodate slim bottles - we couldn't get our Dr. Brown's inside. I will be exchanging it for something much bigger!

Rated 3 out of 5 by CorasTeacherMommy I've had 2 break in 3 years!
My sister bought this as a shower gift in early 2010 because of my love for LLBean book packs. The color choices were pretty gender neutral and it seemed tough enough to keep up with us. However, the interior is a bit too small, and I've had two bags become defective when the rubber shoulder grip broke. For $69 bucks a pop, I don't know why the company won't revise their design. On the plus side, the good folks at customer service are always gracious and helpful. Unfortunately, I've had too much cause to speak to them about this product!

This is a great Diaper Bag. But,the shoulder strap is very poor quality. It is almost shredded after only 8 months use. This is not what I expect from LLBean.
I bought one for my daughter-in-law in Seattle, She has had no problems. My son carries it when he has the baby. I bought it in black for him.
I also bought one for my daughter in Tampa. Her baby is 8 months old.
Both girls did not carry it immediately, They both had a high priced
designer diaper bag. Both girls quickly tired of the fancy "other" bag and now both use the LLBean bag.
They love all the pockets, inside and out. They can carry all their personal items w/o carrying a separate purse.
The carrying strap needs to be more substantial. The bag could also be larger.
The fabric is strong and keeps a good shape.
I know now that you can select the color thread for your monograms, so you can see it.
Otherwise, did I say "This is a great diaper bag"
