Rated 4 out of 5 by CADayHiker Great pack, would be even better with chest strap
Love this pack; durable, compartments where I need them, perfect size.
However, I really miss having a chest strap to click in front to keep it on my shoulders.
It also could be improved if the water bottle holders were a bit deeper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by redwingsfan238 Excellent for playing tourist
I've been looking for a small backpack to replace one I've had for years. I finally found it.
I used this bag when I was in Boston recently. It was perfect. It's small but very roomy. I had enough room to carry my purse, bottle of water, books, pens, notebook, camera ... in short everything I could want or need while playing tourist.

Rated 4 out of 5 by HawaiiWalker good quality, a bit pricey
I'm a petite woman (5') in need of a backpack small enough to fit my torso. I couldn't decide between the Explorer and the Carryall II Day Pack which is considerably more expensive. I decided to keep the Carryall Day Pack because it's of much better quality than the Explorer (admittedly designed for children) though it's slightly smaller in capacity.
PROS:
My 13" MacBook Air in its sleeve fits snugly in the Carryall pack along with several books (large and small) and other items.
I love the accessibility of all the compartments which open widely so one can see what's in each of the compartments--well designed!
The water bottle holders on both sides seemed slightly short to me but my 27 oz., 11" tall LLB water bottle (which regularly falls out of the side mesh pockets of my 4 year old Quad pack) seemed to be secure enough.
The Plum color is very nice. The material is substantial luggage-like in quality but not heavy.
Easy, sturdy zippers. There's no rain-guard flap to get in the way....but I also don't know how dry my things would stay if I were caught in the rain without an umbrella.
CONS:
I wish this pack had a chest strap, waist strap and lumbar padding so that carrying heavy loads would be more comfortable. I have yet to find a small backback that has all of these features.
I agree with previous comments that the straps are not designed for large people! They barely fit me...and I'm a pretty small person with the shoulder width of a petite woman. LLB needs to extend the padded portion of the shoulder straps by a few inches.
I think the price is a bit high given how simple this pack is...but as I can't find another pack that fits most of my criteria I'm keeping it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by dandan durable backpack
It was a little smaller than I expected, which actually suits me better. It is still big enough to get through the day and will hold notebooks or books that are up to 8 1/2 by 11 (page size). Lots of convenient storage pockets.
I expect it to be durable and long-lasting, just like my last LLBean backpack.

Rated 2 out of 5 by SFgal Disappointed
I ordered this because I wanted a new small pack for travel. While the size and padded shoulder straps were what I was looking for, I was disappointed otherwise. I expected more features for the price. It would be good to have a few more organizer pockets and a sleeve for a tablet computer. The zippers were also balky. I ended up returning it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by dely Nice Size/Lots of Pockets
I am extremely pleased with both the quality and size/organization of this day pack. I was searching for a backpack that was slightly larger than the triangular shaped Baggallini I had been using as a purse. The Baggallini was not quite large enough due to it's tapered size, but the Bean's day pack is perfect. Well designed pocket layout, very comfortable straps and nice that it has the carry handle on top. Nice color selection too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HobbitShopper Perfect size and color
I really like the size of the backpack. The straps are comfortable and the sections are the right size. I only have a minor complaint and that's with the zippers - they're a little stiff but maybe they'll get better as I use them more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TysonsFairfaxShopper Just the right size!
I had looked for what seemed like forever, for a backpack that was small but designed for adults. I am a petite woman who finds regular backpacks too bulky, cumbersome, and difficult for traveling. This pack is absolutely perfect in size! I am able to fit all of my carry-on items, and it tucks away neatly even if flying coach. The best part is that the pockets are designed for easy access to your essential items. I was able to easily find things (such as my qt sized baggie with liquids) without picking and poking around like I end up doing with other packs. I *love* this pack and am here on the site to buy a second one in case something happens to the one I have! Sounds crazy to buy a 2nd one but its been so difficult to find a bag that was just right for a petite traveler that didn't have Disney graphics, that I don't want to risk losing one and not being able to get another!

Rated 1 out of 5 by chickies Way too small
This bag is so small I do not think even a kindergarten student could use if for their folders. Very disappointed when I opened it and found that it was so small especially for such a big / large price.
