This is a well constructed little bookshelf with smooth finishes on all edges. It was easy to assemble (all the screw holes lined up perfectly) and it fits in a relatively small space. That said, I should mention that books that are taller than 9" will not fit vertically on either shelf. However, I like the fact that it is one of the very few things I've bought in recent years that was made in the United States.

This is a nice piece of furniture, but I didn't see a warning anywhere that "some assembly is required." Another tip that you should voice is to coat each of the screw's threads with hand soap before you begin to start screwing it into the other part.
It took about an hour to assemble the five pieces (the top, 2 ends, and 2 shelves) and than hammer plugs into the screw holes.
Each piece is nicely finished.

This table is just the size I was looking for. the light oak color is nice; the wood and finish appear to be a good quality.
The recommendation about needing another person to assist with assembly should be heeded! I have assembled other things by myself, but the tolerance for the pre-drilled holes on this piece is pretty tight, which makes for a nice, sturdy outcome but also the need for another pair of hands to keep things perfectly aligned during the assembly process.

I ordered two book cases before ordering this piece, hoping that it would match the dark stain and quality of the others, since it is included in the mission style furniture at the LL Bean website. First of all, the stain is much darker, It looks more like it was painted on than an actual stain. When I saw the top, I first thought it was made of plastic to look like wood. There is no "stain" in this piece at all. Also, you assemble the piece, and the holes pre-drilled don't match up exactly - they are about 1/2 to 1 width of a screw off. So you have to partially turn the screws into the holes, then tighten each a little until you get them all in place. The final turning of the screws forces the final fit (be prepared to apply a lot of pressure in those final turns).
I thought about sending it back, but decided not to. It wasn't that expensive, and I am sure I'll use it somewhere, just not where I intended to use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PattyPooh I love it!
I have 2 of the older style end tables and when I ordered a third, I didn't notice the change in style. Thank you, LL Bean, for I like this style even better! It came in rapid time, was in lovely condition and was easy to put together. I highly recommend it!

The table arrived swiftly, was easy to assemble, and coordinates well with my L.L.Bean matching mission book cases and writing desk. Its wood is solid and sturdy, and I feel well satisfied with the size and appearance. I plan to add other pieces to my mission collection.

This table was exactly what we had hoped for. Putting it together was easy, and it resulted in a table that is very sturdy with no wobbling at all. The finish is very nice. We liked it so much we're going to get two more.

I ordered this item to fit into a particular space, which it does beautifully, for the purpose of getting more organized. The wood is finished exceedingly well and the color of the stain is perfect. However, after putting it together, it rocks a little from side to side and I'm not sure how to resolve this. It's not bad with the books I placed on it and I'm so glad to have it for that purpose.
