Rated 4 out of 5áby Summerwindnc Toasty, waterproof, perfect for the Coldest weather
This coat allows you to venture out in the worst weather snug and dry. Unlike other down coats, you have room to wear a warm sweater, or fleece as it is not snuggly fitted.
Down inside the hood will keep you warm, deep fit allows for a knitted hat to layer up for the best protection from the worst weather winter has to deliver.

Rated 5 out of 5áby UpNorthLife Well-made, comfortable, warm, great fit
When you live in Northern Minnesota you need a wide range of coats for different seasons, extreme weather & different activities. This jacket is great for severe snow & cold without being too bulky.

Rated 5 out of 5áby inthepark Extremely warm and not too heavy
I bought this coat for my daughter who was freezing at boarding school. She says it is so warm that she doesn't have to wear bulky things underneath and no longer fears the cold. Her only complaint was that I bought her a medium and she would rather have had a small, but the coat looks fine.

Rated 4 out of 5áby milril44 Very warm but carry a lint roller with you
The coat is high quality and fits well. It keeps you very warm. Big downside is that it leaves little down feathers all over your clothes after each wearing. Carry a lint roller with you.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Laou Great Value, Warmth, Fit
I bought this jkt to attend a week long trip in the Berkshires (single digit to below zero temps + windchill effect) and after 5 hours of snowshoeing and nature photography I felt like I never went outside! This jkt looks great, fits great, was every bit as warm as advertised. Compared to some of the more expensive brands (which I have) this is now my go to jkt.

Rated 5 out of 5áby NYwalkingwoman Great winter parka!
I've been looking for a new winter coat for months and finally decided on the Baxter State Parka. I?m very happy with it ? keeps me warm and looks good too. It's a parka ? it?s not meant to be a fashion statement but it still has great styling. There is a drawstring to add some waist shaping and an adjustable drawstring around the hem but I haven't needed to adjust anything yet. Lots of pockets inside and out with secure snaps and zippers - great for cell phone, wallet, keys, etc. The hood fits very well ? it?s not so big and floppy that it obscures my peripheral vision. And the ?fur? ruff is face framing and flattering. I don't understand why others are having problems with the zipper ? first, it's a two-way zipper which is a great feature on any coat, and second, when working a two-way zipper you need to take some extra care in getting it straight and locked in before zipping up. The coat is very well made. I?ve been a loyal L.L. Bean customer for years ? I?m still wearing the Penobscot Parka that I bought in the late 80s and it?s in great shape still ? I wish Bean still made that parka. I also have the Ultra Warm Parka but I bought it in ?Paperwhite? and after eight years of New York winters, it?s time to turn it in (never again a white coat). Plus, the Baxter State Parka is a much better coat. I?m 5 ft. 3 Ż inches tall and weigh about 113 pounds ? on the slim side with broad-ish shoulders. I bought the Misses size Small Regular in black. I tried the Small Petite but returned it because the sleeves were too short and it felt too snug through the chest and shoulders. Plus I like the extra inch or so in length of the Regular size. Overall, I?m very happy with my new parka.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Sewcat1 The best coat ever - more times than I can count
Living in New England I have the benefit of LLBean outlet stores near by. Over 10 years ago, I bought the Baxter parka for myself and for my young daughter at the outlet store (they had a kids version at the time). She out grew it and it went to my best friend who lived in Bangor who passed it to her 2 boys and the last time I heard, it had gone to her nephew and was still going strong.
Mine has performed well on the coldest days. I needed to replace mine and placed an order on Tuesday. The coat was here on Thursday and it is as good or better than the old one. I love the new design on the hood. It makes the hood easy to use as the wind whips around the prudential center on my morning walk to work.
When my son moved to Chicago a few years ago, I bought him one at the outlet store and he complained about having to carry it back on the plane. But over the past few weeks I have only heard Thank your from him.
So 4 parkas later, I can still say it is the warmest coat I have ever owned, they perform and wear really well. This is not the coat for a mild winter since it is large and down filled. But for Boston, Chicago and northern Maine full winters it can't be beat.

Rated 4 out of 5áby NoBizLover Very Warm
This is a very warm coat. I purchased one size larger so I could wear extra layers underneath and thus layered up I endured the recent zero degree weather very comfortably on my daily two mile dog walk. The outer shell is rugged which makes it durable but it is a bit heavy. The one aspect that I do not like is the waist pucker arrangement. It works through the hand warmer pockets. This has three disadvantages: First it wraps all the way around which distorts the zipper and makes it difficult to zip the coat. Second it is too high. Third the pucker cords are in the way in the pocket. Overall I think it is a very good coat but I would recommend changing the waist pucker.
