Rated 4 out of 5 by Summerwindnc Toasty, waterproof, perfect for the Coldest weather
This coat allows you to venture out in the worst weather snug and dry. Unlike other down coats, you have room to wear a warm sweater, or fleece as it is not snuggly fitted.
Down inside the hood will keep you warm, deep fit allows for a knitted hat to layer up for the best protection from the worst weather winter has to deliver.

I love the hooded parker I bought except the hood droops over my eyes a bit too much unless I wear a hat under it. I am out in the winter walking and caring for animals and need a hood on a very warm jacket especially this winter. I would also have liked it if it was about 5 inches longer but I have not found any womens parka coats that were this long. I had been wearing a mens jacket for years that finally fell apart . I would rate this as the best one available I could find.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Ramblewood Warm and roomy - a little fit problem
Looking for a really warm jacket, I ordered this 'cause I wanted a hood too. I'm short and with the bulk of this jacket, I didn't like it plus the back between the shoulder blades puffed out and looked funny. Overall, I looked like two legs with a colorful box on top. Yep, I'm sending it back. Oh, and I did order a petite but some styles just aren't suited for short women. I'm 5'1" and 115 pounds.

Received my Baxter State Parker Down winter coat and was so excited!! It only took 2 days to arrive and with our Boston high wind Spring storm it was just in time!! It was just the right color I was hoping for. The Navy Heather color wears well with jeans and is so warm and toasty!! The price was a little high as it was the end of the season but well worth it in the end. Thank you LLBean for not disappointing once again!!

I bought this parka for my wife because she is always cold. Not any more. We live in north Idaho and winters can get cold here. I bought one of these parkas for myself because it was competitively priced and had more down filling than others. I don't even have to layer under it to stay warm when plowing snow on the tractor. I considered buying the tall size but got the regular and it is plenty long. We both love them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by petitegma Unfortunately returning
The fabric was too stiff & heavy. The hood fur obscured side vision. I felt like a two-year-old stuffed into a snowsuit! I'll wait for next season's choices to replace my beloved LLB down jacket now covered in pine sap.

Terrific parka! Warm and beautiful- just what I need in this cold, cold Maine winter. Good fit, love the color (red-orange, very visible to cars when walking). My only problem is the zipper, but I always have trouble with double zippers, and I don't understand why they're needed. I've never seen anyone open from the bottom.
Anyway, highly recommended!

Rated 2 out of 5 by GLMG From Cadillac to Kia: disappointment
A few years ago, I bought a very high quality down parka of similar design to the Baxter from L.L. Bean. My old parka was a Cadillac. It's "action" seams were triple-stitched. It had a drawstring waist that actually drew in the fabric close to the body to prevent wind from blowing up the chest and back. It seems to have had more down of better quality, and the down compartments were large enough to allow the down to loft fully. Its lining was tough, and it did not shed feathers. The hood had a generous, thick fur strip with a wire for shaping the hood around the head. The front flap pockets were a roomy bellows style. The inner cuffs were tough, and they did not loose their shape and elasticity with use.
I've had my new Baxter for a month, and I have worn it almost every day. It is of much lower quality. It has some double stitched seams, but many seams have only one line of stitching. It has no true drawstring waist. The new Baxter, in comparison with the older model, seems to have less down that is sewn to the inside of the jacket in small pockets which leave little room for loft. The lining is leaking feathers, and I have seen a brown one. The fur strip on the hood is scanty and does not provide warmth for the face. There is no wire shaper for the hood. The front flap pockets are flat. The inner cuffs are lighter and less sturdy than those of the old parka, and they are already losing some of their elasticity. The new parka has one good innovation: a Velcro fastening at the wrist of the outer sleeve to bring it closer to the arm.
Overall, I am quite disappointed with the new parka. I expected a far better product at the price. The old parka was a Cadillac, but the new one is a Kia. It is lighter; it uses lesser quality materials; its features are cheaper, it's not as warm, and every possible corner has been cut.

Rated 5 out of 5 by lakegirl85 Best Coat Ever!
I have lived in New England my whole life (over 50 years) and have never had a better coat. This coat truely keeps me warm. I bought it in the Fall and have used it all this very cold winter. The outer layer helps keep the rain out, so I stay dry. I love all the pockets - I don't need to carry a purse. Also, the fit is perfect. I tried a size medium at first because I wanted it roomy enough for a heavy sweater, but it was huge. I normally wear a 6 petite, so then I tried the petite small and it was perfect. Nice range of motion too. If you're looking for a no-nonsense practical coat, this is it!
