Rated 4 out of 5 by Summerwindnc Toasty, waterproof, perfect for the Coldest weather
This coat allows you to venture out in the worst weather snug and dry. Unlike other down coats, you have room to wear a warm sweater, or fleece as it is not snuggly fitted.
Down inside the hood will keep you warm, deep fit allows for a knitted hat to layer up for the best protection from the worst weather winter has to deliver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Googee Glad I purchased it.
I purchased the Men's State Parka in 2013 & purchased wife one in 2014. We have field tested these coats during this very cold NYC area winter. Delighted to say we have remained toasty even on the coldest days.

I bought this coat for walking the dog in cold weather and I love it! It fits perfectly. I live in Massachusetts and our winter has been extremely cold this year. The parts of me that are covered by the coat are never cold even with -12 temps and a wind chill that makes it feel like -25! I love the hood, it really keeps the wind out. I wear a petite size and the sleeves and length are just right.

This is my fourth Baxter State Parka, because I love them and they are the warmest! This last one doesn't quite feel and stuffed with feathers. I do like the slippery lining as apposed to the fabric, which made it difficult to pull the coat down after riding in the car - nice change. Getting the zipper started is giving me some grief, so I hope I get better at that. I love the products and service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by NativeYankee Ideal for Iceland and horrid winters stateside
I'm originally from New England, but haven't lived there for several years, so I no longer owned any hefty winter coats when I planned a trip for Iceland. I knew I would need a serious jacket to keep warm over there and tried several on in the store. This one was a winner due to it's warmth, outershell that's water and windproof, and the length. I'm happy to report that after coming back from Iceland, this coat kept me warm and dry the entire time (combined with base and mid layers of course) and I saw all kinds of winter weather over there- 40-60mph wind gusts, rain, snow, sleet, and temps ranging from the mid 30s to low teens.
The jacket is also durable as I wore it in some unusual conditions (crawling about a lava tube, glacier hiking, etc) and it never tore or frayed. The detachable hood is nice- used it a lot over in Iceland but took it off for use back home.
Since coming back to the States, it's been even colder here than it was in Iceland, so it's come in darn handy when walking my dogs or shoveling out the car. This coat is a WINNER, which is good, because it's expensive, hah.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LLbeanFalllover The BEST Winter Coat you will EVER own
We have had the worst winter in the North East since 1967 and I have never had a warmer coat in my life. NOT ONCE was I cold. I thought the coat was a bit pricey but after this winter I would pay at least $350 for the same coat and I live on Social Security but this was the best investment I have ever made. If you need OR want to be warm in bad weather THIS IS THE COAT TO BUY. Nothing comes close or ever will. The best money I ever spent in my life. It's a 10 star coat
PS I bought mine in Sept and they were sold out in Oct. If your going to buy one do it in late summer or you will never get one

Rated 1 out of 5 by agiraffe Not what I expected
The navy heather does not look like the color in the picture. It's more of a dull grey in person. The fur trim was sparse, flat, & looked very cheap; It doesn't look like it belonged on a $249 coat. The arms were way too short. The hand pockets were placed too low. I knew there wasn't going to be much shape, but it was boxier than I expected. It might be a warm coat, but everything else is so disappointing that I'm definitely going to return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MtGoat33 The best coat I've ever owned
I was so pleased to find this coat has everything I was looking for. It's warm, waterproof, breathable, long (but not too long), and looks nice. The removable fur on the hood makes it easy to go from outdoorsy/rugged to stylish in seconds. It is perfect for skiing, shoveling, and playing during the cold and snowy New England winter.

I purchased this item because it was supposed to be the warmest jacket that LL Bean sold. It's good in the wind, but I don't find as warm as my old down jacket. The zipper broke after two weeks, but LL Bean replaced with no problem. Even so the jacket is very hard to zip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LaGranDame Comfortable Down
I wore my Baxter State Parka for the first time yesterday. The temperature in the A.M. was 27 degrees. By afternoon it had risen to 50 degrees. I was comfortable at both temperatures. I was out shopping and was comfortable wearing the parka inside the stores. I have had other down jackets that were great outside, but as soon as I entered a building I had to remove them. Not so with this one. The Baxter State Parka is a great investment. Oh, I forgot to mention that I was only wearing a tee shirt beneath it. I love this parka!
