My husband had to return these pants because the fit was so loose everywhere. This is not what we expected in a "standard fit", but was much more a "relaxed fit". However, LL Bean does not offer a "slim fit", so we were trying to find something to buy with our free Bean coupons. Alas, as the LL Bean quality and selection has gone down, it is harder and harder to even use the free coupons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by maineyardman Standard fit Gray 1912's Are Great!
I bought my first pair of 1912 jeans this April at the Flagship store in Freeport. Ordinary 36x30 size jeans that I've bought elsewhere always seem a little bit tight and a little bit short, but these gray jeans in the Standard fit are perfectly sized, very comfortable and good-looking. After washing this first pair, just to make sure they would not shrink, I promptly ordered another pair online. The fabric is a slightly lighter weight than the blue 1912 jeans, and I think that makes the gray jeans more comfortable for casual wear. I suspect they may not be the best choice for working outdoors on your hands and knees. I'll bet I will still need my Double L blue jeans for yard work and gardening. My only criticism of the 1912 model jeans (and this is true of both the blue and gray versions) is that the opening of the front pockets is a little bit small for my hands, so it's sometimes harder than it should be to retrieve items like car keys, etc. from the bottom of the pocket. Ordinarily I would say $49.95 is a lot to pay for a pair of jeans, but if they stand up to years of wear (like the other items in my LL Bean wardrobe), these gray jeans will prove to be a bargain.

Overall good jeans. But, here is what I found: 30 L are longer than sized which is ok for me since I am a 31 L. The straight legs are wide at the bottom. Again, ok for me since I plan to wear mine with boots. I gave a 5 star rating because I considered the other reviews first and ordered knowing what I was getting. However, I think LLBean could do a better job in describing the fit. If not for the reviews, I probably would have been disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by GROShopper Comfortable lightweight jean.
Love these jeans. However, compared to the other LL series jeans, they run a little long. I will order more and will adjust my length.

The leg cut was way too baggy. Need to have a more taper leg fit! Color and style were great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by BullwinkleMoose Comfortable, great fit, big enough for boots
Very nice jeans. Fit is really good and as described. They're a bit shorter-rise than many jeans, but not the super-short style you see sometimes. They are just what I was looking for. I was a little concerned that the legs would be too narrow at the ankle to fit over my boots, but they work well. Neither tight around the boot, nor bell-bottomed.
NOTE: The denim used in these pants is lighter weight than many I've had. This is actually a plus for someone who lives in a hot climate, or just wants a lighter-weight jean. If you're looking for a 'work' jean, or something heavier-duty like that, these are not the best choice.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Takoman Oddly wide pant legs; otherwise well-fitting
These appeared to be relatively sturdy, well-fitting jeans, but the pant legs were oddly wide, beyond even boot cut, which they are not advertised to be. Almost like bell-bottoms.
