I purchased two of these jackets, one in black and one in blue.I had high hopes but, alas, I am returning both of them. While the material is nice and the coat seems warm, the cut is very boxy and ill fitting. I am 5'9, about 170lbs and athletic and the medium was way too large and fit like a sail. Also, the sleeves are way too long.

When purchasing this jacket two weeks ago in Freeport, I asked the salesman if it was temperture rated and how warm it would be. He didn't know, but I purchased it anyway.
Don't purchase this item for its warmth. In the thirties you need a heavy sweater under; in the twenties a heavy sweater and a vest, and forget it if it's colder: leave it in the closet. It fits great and looks good, but it isn't a very warm jacket.

6' and 240 lbs. and headed into my second winter with this soft shell.
This coat (in black) actually creates a slimming effect according to several folks. The slight flare at the shoulder helps with that too.
Its warm and I really like the cuffs as they totally seal out the cold.
Just don't understand those last two reviews.

Rated 1 out of 5 Unflattering Boxy Cut
Sorry, Bean... this one's going back.
I'm a 6'2", 230 pound guy with broad shoulders. I'm an XL Tall; Bean stuff normally fits me well. Not so much in this case.
The way this jacket hangs off my shoulders makes me look like a barn door. Fit is not tailored; it's cut straight. I'm not claiming to be thin, but this jacket makes me look much heavier than I am. I thought it looked awkward when I first put it on... but, when my wife saw it, she was direct: "Uh, no... take it off. That's going back."
Shame -- I was really excited to have this jacket... but I'll keep looking.

Unfortunately had to send this jacket back. Felt very warm but sleeves were so long I could not wear it. If the sleeve had an elastic cuff I would have kept it but without it there is no flexibility in the sleeve length. I ordered a small and wear a 15/32 in a shirt. I am a slight build but it was still a little snug in the shoulders.

Nice fit and materials, only suggestion is to line sleeves with a material that makes it easier to pull on. Sleeves often catch on shirts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by yankeecamper0511 warm, light, dense fabric
I want to describe this jacket because the photos don't really do it justice. The exterior feels like a windbreaker mixed with spandex, while the inside is fleece. So it's soft and warm but also waterproof, which is a rare combination.
The fleece is really dense and warm, which is surprising considering how light weight the jacket is. I love the soft pocket liner. The zippers don't jam.
A small word of caution, though- the photo of the khaki/moss peat green is a little bit lighter than how the fabric appears in person.

Nice quality, but a snug fit. I'm 6'1", 225lbs, and usually wear an XL no problem. This jacket was fine in the shoulders, tight in the chest, long in the sleeves, and short in the body.

I bought this for my husband as he loves an earlier version that I can not pry off his back. He is an avid cyclist & at first wasn't too keen on this jacket, because it was not exactly like his previous one,but after he tried it out he was sold. He likes the zipped pocket on the outside where he can stash his mobile within easy reach. The fleece seems to block out the headwind when he is doing about 20 mph on his bike.

Bought two fleece jackets last year from LL Bean, both delivered as advertised. Learned when I bought those to go with Tall XL instead of XXL. Have multiple utility jackets, but was looking for a soft-shell jacket that is fleece lined (love fleece) that I could use for work and be my fall back jacket for sports. Have had the jacket for two weeks and it has delivered. Took it to San Francisco last week on business, where it blocked out the wind, mist, and was almost to warm. Only wore a sports shirt under it, and I was toasty. Looks like it could turn into my number one jacket next winter. Now if it wears and lasts like my two fleece jackets I will be a very happy camper.
