Rated 4 out of 5áby Shoes4Hiking Water proof hiking shoes
The size shoes I got are a good fit and seem to be well made and of good design. They are pretty stiff now but seem to loosen the more I wear them. I have not been out in wet conditions yet so will see how waterproof they are as I continue to wear them.
Good soft padding inside so I think they will be shoes I can wear
for many years.

I absolutely love these hikers. They are the ONLY shoe I wear. Have purchased and gone through probably AT LEAST a dozen pairs in the last ten years. Great support, comfortable. I get a 1/2 size larger (size 9) than I used when I wore running shoes. I keep at least 3 pairs on hand at a time. A new pair for church, a ratty old pair for yard work, and a pair for hiking, hunting, walking and everyday use. I have worn them hiking up a glacier in Alaska, walking on the beach on the OBX and everywhere in between. Waterproof and warm. Sure, your feet will sweat in the summer but you won't break any ankles or slip on the ice. I am 66 and they are just a great shoe. I only wear these mid cuts due to ankle problems in my running days. Who cares that they only come in brown.

Rated 4 out of 5áby ronNJ Good Boot
Purchased after returning LL Bean hikers from 13 years back whose sole had come apart, great return policy by the way LL Bean > you have my lifelong contract on casual shoes. Anyhow, very good boot, waterproof, just the right stiffness without making feet tired. Recommend buying a 1/2 size larger on these.

I had originally ordered the mid-cut version of the Trail Model Hikers, but I had to get a size 14, as they were out of 13. They were way too big. Luckily, LL Bean has excellent customer service, and the return/exchange was amazingly easy. These new low cut hikers are incredibly comfortable. They took just a little bit of breaking in, but I was out on the trails after just a couple of days of wearing them around the house, and I have been blister free. They really do feel just like tennis shoes. I would highly recommend these.

Rated 5 out of 5áby abelink Sturdy hikers
I am well satisfied with the Men's Waterproof Trail Model Hikers II, Mid-Cut I purchased from L.L. Bean. They are not the first Bean hikers I've had--nor will they be the last! These boots are quite sturdy with good foot- and ankle-support. I've been wearing them around the yard and on short one- and two-mile walks since they arrived with no complaints. I have yet to get them out on the trail for a longer test but do not doubt they'll serve quite well there, too.

I came on here to beg LL Bean to make these in a bigger size. I bought them last September for a trip to Yellowstone in October. As the reviews said, they're about 1/2 size small so I bought size 14 (I'm a 13 1/2) -- the biggest size they have. Perfect.
I've completely worn the soles out. In that it's only 6 months later, you might not think it's a ringing endorsement for longevity -- until you learn I walk 3 miles every morning on asphalt as my exercise routine. The tops still look almost new.
Anyway, I'm back here buying another pair. That's because my legs are killing me from walking in the other boots I bought to replace the LL Bean Hiker II. (I'm old. Good shoes matter now more than they used to.) While here, it hit me that these things aren't insulated. Who knew? No wonder my feet got cold this winter. And I couldn't wear thick enough socks because they don't come in 14 1/2s.
So how about it LL Bean? Make them in bigger sizes so I can wear thick wool socks and I'll buy another pair for next winter. Okay, I'll probably buy them again anyway. They're great boots. I carried 25 lbs of photography gear through Yellowstone, Providence Canyon and up Stone Mountain. My feet only got cold when I stopped walking. But I have to do that to take pictures. Room for thicker socks would be nice.

I had purchased the previous version of these boots twice and wore the soles off both of them - light, comfortable and good support. I loved them. I assume that they were the Trail Model Hikers I. This latest version looks similar but is designed differently, a bit heavier and more rigid than before. They did not have as much room in the toes, especially on the outside of the shoe. Like other reviews, I had to go back to the store to get a half size bigger and despite that the shoes still pinched in the toes and were painful - I ended up damaging my toenail. I ended up returning them and bought a different brand. Very disappointing that my favorite shoe was changed and no longer available.

Tried the boots at my regular size, even though a few reviews indicated better results with 1/2 size larger. Should have listened to reviews!
Many LL Bean footwear products advise 1/2 size increase in the description....it should it add it to this one. Love the boots, just need the larger size. Please indicate this in the description...I would not have had to return them. It would have been appreciated.
