Rated 2 out of 5 by SadlyNoDice Wanted to like the coat
Great length, good fit, however every comment about the down feathers poking through the coat are absolutely true. I liked the jacket, but ultimately returned it due to the feathers escaping the coat. My new jacket looked so shabby since feathers would fall out and they would stick on the microsuede. I looked like I was molting, not to mention the feathers getting stuck on your clothing underneath. I hope LLBean can find a tighter woven fabric to seal in the down. As mentioned I really wanted to like this jacket, everything else about it was great. I gave an extra star for the good fit and style, but I couldn't get over the feather issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by dcindy Wonderful coat
First, let me say that I'm not usually a petite size (almost 5'7"#. But I was desperate for a warm coat to cope with the bitter cold of January 2014, so I took a chance and ordered this. It has exceeded my expectations in every way. Aside from the sleeves being a shade too short, the XL fits perfectly, makes me look slimmer than expected, and is long enough to keep me warm. I like the deep, zippered pockets. The coat is not ultralight down, but doesn't weigh much more. The microsuede surface is much nicer #and waterproof# than the nylon used in other brands. And, I got this on sale! I've been an LLBean fan since high school, but this is one of my best purchases ever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Grovenorlady So Comfy!!!
I did my homework and looked and looked for a long warn coat that would get me through my trip to Montana in the winter!!! ( I live in sunny California so no need for a coat that is too warm here)
I just got the coat today. It is beautiful. Very elegant, I bought it in black. So soft and I love the collar! I hate hoods so it is perfect. I am 5' 3" and about 150, I ordered the Peteit Large it is a little big but no too big. I will be able to wear what ever I want under it. The sleeves are a little long though. I love this coat and I hope the reviews I am reading about the zipper are not true because I want to have it for a long time!

Rated 4 out of 5 by dmrmsr So many good things here - Returned with regret
Ordered dark mushroom color in size XS in 3/4 length. For context of sizing comments to follow, I'm 5'4" and 108 lb. Loved the color, loved the microsuede fabric, loved the design detai including smooth lining that made getting this on and off a breeze, loved the collar and loved the construction quality. BUT, the sizing, not so much. The XS was swimming on me in the body even with a tee and fleece quarter zip underneath. Had LLBean a size for me to go down to, I would have exchanged this for size if possible. Also a note, I have shorter arms and the arms in this was just perfect for me. Returned with regret. And with the ongoing wish that LLB would produce clothing in size 2 equivalents for we smaller folks. I once was a size 12 and loved LLBean then. I love it just as much now. Just can't find much to fit me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LongLeggedPetite Simply a Great Coat--
Ordered this on sale in Dark Mushroom--Petite Medium. Arrived quickly and fits true to size. Aside from the fabulous bargain, it does not make me look twice my size. This classic coat will get lots of use when the weather gets cold again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PineyWoodswoman Luxuriant, slimming and priced to move
Time will tell whether mine sheds feathers or gets a stuck zipper as others report. As someone who is used to bulky down jackets, I'm delighted by its microsuede finish, elegant cut, light weight and slimming properties. At the price it is now offered, I feel LLBean has compensated for potential downsides. If the zipper works, I'm in. If it sheds a few feathers, I'll be tempted to buy a marker in a matching color and simply dye them. And after all, they have a satisfaction guaranteed and the coat weighs almost nothing to ship back, if it comes to that. I'd say go for it... I'm 5' 9", weigh 135 pounds, and bought a size large so it will fit over sweaters.

I liked the styling, size and length of this coat....it was toasty and nice looking until the down quills started popping out all over the place. It now endlessly sprouts feathers and looks rather scrappy....like one was attacked by a bird.
The coat is going back.... :- (

Rated 2 out of 5 by THarden OOPS The zipper broke
This coat is extremely warm and very attractive but almost impossible to zip.
I live in the south so to buy a warm coat was a new experience for me. I bought it anticipating a European trip in December and felt certain that any coat from LL Bean would certainly satisfy my needs but... on the second day of my 21 day trip the zipper broke.
The coat is cut slim so there was no way to successfully keep it closed except to use a scarf to tie it closed at the waist but this closure offered no help for the legs.
Beware of any coat with just a zipper.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jamie629 Love this coat, good fit
I'm 5'2" and 125 and I have this coat in a S Petite and it's a perfect fit. I bought it to replace my old bulky down coat and it's served the purpose of getting me to and from work while keeping me warm. I took off one star for the zipper - it sometimes doesn't line up quite right.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Northlight Attractive, Warm, but a Couple of Flaws
I wish I could give this coat a 5 star rating, because it has everything I chose it for, except for some problem areas: It is cosy, comfortable, and essentially feels great to wear. The neck zips up snugly to the chin, which makes a scarf unnecessary. However, the zipper does stick somewhat - not a big deal, but can be annoying.
The pockets zip cleanly and are great for keeping items safe (also an inside pocket). As a woman who refuses to carry a purse, pockets are vital! Also, the fleece liner keeps hands warm and comfy.
The problem is as one reviewer has mentioned, with the down lining: tiny feathers have started to appear, following the coat's second wash. I followed instructions for washing very carefully.
So far, the feathers are tiny, so it's not preventing me from keeping and wearing the garment; however, I am keeping my fingers crossed that the leakage does not increase with the third wash.
Otherwise, the coat is very practical for everyday wear, including hanging out with dogs and horses. It definately insulates in a cold climate, but if it were much colder than -20C, I don't think the coat would suffice (and we do get a lot of days like that). However, winter has been unseasonably mild this year. I also love that there is no hood, as I only tolerate them as necessary for extreme cold - they're too bulky and make a mess of your hair if it's long.
