What has been happening to our beloved chambray shirts. They were once great combination of casual and work shirts, now they look and feel more like a dress shirt. They once had a softer fabric that weathered as you wore them. I loved the medium and light blue ones. The original shirt label stated they were made in Sir Lanka. BRING THESE SHIRTS BACK!

I've had many of these shirts over the years. I've worn a lot of them out over the years. Then things started to change. The buttons on the collar started to pull of ripping the cloth. I don't know if the thread count went down or what. So I started to send them back. Whenever the button pulled out ripping the shirt, back it went. Too bad I loved these shirts as they were. Until they bring back the old shirt I will not buy another from LL Bean.

Clearly what you are advertising as chambray is not what you sold before and not what a lot of customers who have written in want. Many of us hate no-wrinkle shirts and find it harder and harder to find plain cotton ones. Since nearly everything else in your store is no-wrinkle couldn't you bring back the old chambray for the many writers that have complained to you?

I've had a couple of your Chambray shirts over time. They wear extremely well..........wrinkle free after washing........very soft and comfortable. AND the price is right!

by ChambrayFan Wrong Color--Web vs. Real-life
Sadly, the category reads "traditional fit-plaid" when you click to write a review--not a good start. This is in reference to item #248929. I ordered Chambray Blue--a repeat of an item I've owned and now worn out. I noticed "light chambray" was sold out, but the color of Chambray Blue on the web seemed similar to my shirt so I ordered it. Wrong color. Don't order it if you're looking for a typical colored chambray shirt. I've attached a photo that shows the original shirt, the new (to be returned) order, and a snip from the web--showing what color is there.

Quit buying LL Bean shirts. They never fit. I buy a Med and they are too tight in the neck and short in the arms. I buy a Large and I feel like I can get another person in there with me. I would try the Tall sizes but I feel like I am being taken advantage of with the extra cost for being an odd size, which I am really not.

I want to add my voice to the chorus of dismay about what has been happening to our beloved chambray shirts. They were once great combination of casual and work shirts, now they look and feel more like cheap dress shirts. They once had a softer and heavier fabric that weathered as you wore them. Each change has been accompanied by an assurance you've done it just for us. Clearly you've wanted to create a cheaper shirt to sell to us at the same price. A shirt designed by an accountant. I've bought many over 30 years but won't buy another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MrNatty I want a whole closet full
As usual, the cottage red plaid short sleeved shirt I received for Father's Day more than lived up to my expectations. [It's a rare occasion that my purchases from LL Bean are anything other than totally satisfactory.] I beg to differ with all the 1 and 2 star reviews--folks who complained about the "not real Chambray." Maybe it isn't, but really I don't care. It looks great and the sort of silky smooth feeling makes almost like wearing no shirt at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by TexN This is NOT chambray!
Over the years, I've owned more than half dozen chambray shirts from LLB, which gradually fade and soften with repeated washings. My last order was different. That order was filled with what is essentially an oxford-cloth easy care shirt that does not soften with washing. I don't know if someone at Bean bought a bad batch or whether this is a permanent change, but in either case, it is not a good one. Chambray's appeal is in the softening effect and an oxford shirt that does not soften has no appeal for me. Caveat emptor...
