I hunt in upstate New York through the mid fall into early winter. The terrain around here has lots of hills. Temps range from 50s to single digits with some days below zero.
-Pants slip on over your mid layer with ease.
-High back flap is great for keeping your lower back warm
-Material does NOT breathe at all and does NOT dry quickly. If you sweat one bit in these the moisture sticks with you for the rest of your hunt. If you are an active hunter you simply can't wear these without becoming wet and cold.
-Only good for stand hunting with zero movement.
-LOUD!!! These are made with same same material as 80s style track pants (the swishy kind). Any movement you make is broadcast to the world. Impossible to stalk with these on. Even sitting in a stand, if you move the wrong way the swish can give you away.
-Cold in the knees. When sitting or kneeling the material pulls tight and brings coolness directly to your skin, even when I had a baselayer and the Big Game Technical pants on. I was colder with these pants on.
I am in the process of returning these.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Greenback Waterproof but not breathable
I purchased these for use on my elk hunt this year. After covering about 5 miles the first morning, I returned to the truck because my pants were dripping wet inside. When I took the pants off, not only were they wet, but I also found small chucks of ice between the lining and exterior layer of the pants. Moisture was trapped between the two materials and appeared to collect near the bottom of the pants and ultimately froze. Needless to say, this could have become a dangerous situation. The pants are quiet and waterproof, so they may serve a purpose, but not active hunting, and especially not in cold conditions. I've always been pleased with LL Bean gear, but these might end up being the first item I return.

These pants are perfect for cool and/or wet weather. They fit nicely over regular hunting pants and don't restrict movement. In 50 degree weather these pants are comfortable moving in all day, not too hot and they do breathe. The zip legs are well designed and built. I was skeptical because there are many of these types of pants out there that claim to be waterproof, breathable, etc, but these are the real deal. You would pay 2X what these pants cost once you try them. Do yourself a favor and get a pair of suspenders with them. They come with suspender buttons. Fabric is quiet, cool and surprisingly tough. Hunting in VA in 20-50 in these pants moving and sitting very comfortable. You won't be dissappointed.

I have been using these overpants for the last two years in all kinds of conditions. They keep me dry and are very comfortable to wear. I wear a good vest while hunting that has plenty of pockets so having only two in the pants has not been an issue. I do not like loading down my pants pockets for hunting anyways. The pants breathe as well as any other water proof breathable I have used. Using proper layering helps. These overpants have withstood some pretty rough hunting as I am not one to sit and let Deer come to me. My pair has countless miles of swamp, briars, and other rough terrain behind them. The extra flap in the back is an extra bonus. Can't beat these pants especially for the price.

These pants kept me dry in this past rainy archery season. I like the buttons for suspenders. The only drawback is that they could be more breathable, if the temp get too warm, moisture collects on the inside.

I have had these pants for 1 Year and have used them in all kinds of conditions. I have used them hunting deer in the rain, snow up and down hill country and they are durable and keep you dry in the elements. The reason I gave them 4 is that if you are the least bit warm they will make you sweat. Besides that they are great. I actually wanted to give them 4.5 stars. For those of you that say they need more pockets and insulation, they make those thats why these are the BASIC PANTS. I have both Pants and Jacket

I am sure these are fine for many but not for me.
1. They are not lightweight. Seems like most hunting clothing mfgs are stuck in the early 90's in terms of how they build outdoor gear. All it would take is a quick stop in a moutaineering shop to see how it is done. Overall construction is low tech, and not really built for the outdoor athlete. If you sit in a treestand, probably fine. But run and gun elk hunting these won't cut it.
2. Kind of sweaty. Not much worse than any other water proof breathable though.
3. Single stich construction wouldn't last me one season.
4. Hunters need pockets. These pants only have two! Who designed these? Have they ever hunted?
5. Price is right and materials are nice.
6. Fit is poor for me. I am 6'2" 180 and a medium tall doesn't exist. The Medium short is about 3" too short and the waist is constantly slipping.
7. Much too noisy for elk hunting. I would be stalking in my skivvies in the rain if I took these out.

Purchased for early season turkey hunt. They worked perfect in snow, drizzle and rain. Waterproof with high back feature and suspender buttons already sewn in though not mentioned in Bean. These are favorites of mine after a weeks wearing. You wont be dissapointed with them.

I have not worn these pants extensively, just around in the snow, and they do exactly as described. They are warm and waterproof. They ran a little large on me, even over pants, but not worth fewer than 5 stars. I am sure I would be warm sitting on the tractor or in the tree stand for a period of time. Again, top notch product from LL Bean.

These pants would work much better if you could open the front like a pair of jeans rather than pull over your hips. They are not insulated so a little tough to get over the insulated underwear at the hips. I also ran water over them and rubbed the area where the water was hitting as if you were in the duck boat and found that water did penetrate them somewhat. Not a bad price just wish the front would open with a snap or button.
