I have one of these for myself but I gought this one for my nephew.. These things are really good . they can carry ropes, small tarps knives fire starters , small flash lights , compass, , all sorts of items you may need on a quick hunt...They are easy on easy off .. You do want to be careful and not get a lot of heavy things in there but for normal use they are perfect .
BTW the staff in Freeport is fantastic , they are patient friendly and very knowledgeable about the products they are working with ..

I use this pack primarily for deer hunting. The main pocket is large enough to hold my field dressing gear, maglite, deer calls, pruning snips, snack bar, water bottle and etc. The front storage flap is nice for securing an outer layer when walking. The fabric remains flexible and quiet in freezing weather. So far so good.
However, the main belt is made of a slick nylon and mine refused to stay tight while walking. The belt invariably loosened and the pack started bouncing downward. I prefer my waist pack stay at waist level without frequent re-cinching, especially while hunting. This pack didn't until I replaced the original belt....

If what you want is a waist pack to carry the essentials, this pack gets it done. It is well made and will work for a lot of hunters. But if you want a pack that also organizes your gear and gives you immediate access to what you need at that moment, pick something else.
This pack has one large compartment that is the only one that can hold your larger gear (binoculars, rangefinder, game calls, flashlights, multitools, etc.), so being able to quietly grab what you need at the moment can be a challenge. The other zippered compartment is flat and good for a wallet, ID, hunting license and keys but the outside pockets shouldn't be trusted for anything that you aren't willing to lose while the outside storage flap does a good job of holding extra items like hats or gloves.
It is well made, durable and holds up to hard use - this is typical LL Bean quality. If your hunting allows you to pack your gear in and then organize your equipment (like hunting from a larger box blind) then this will work. If you need your pack to get your gear into a climber or a ladder stand and then help you access whatever you need in an instant, then look elsewhere.

This is an great pack for carrying the essentials. The cinch straps on the side of the pack help draw weight close to your hips. This pack is actually more comfortable for me worn forward, than behind me. The material is quiet and durable. It's simple, but works.

I was looking for a pack that was not too large and not too small. Needed a pack similiar to the one we used in the Army that allowed storage of rain gear and other necessary goodies. This pack fits the bill. I can now walk the dog in weather that is questionable. Pack will hold a rain suit small first aid kit and a few other dog related goodies. If you feel so inclined, you can attach clip-on water bottles if the webbing doesn't hold an adequate supply. As always, very pleased with LLBean product.

I searched for a long time to find the right pack. I hunt public land and carry my treestand in on my back. This pack works great to carry what I need and sometimes a little more. Good quality, great cinch webbing so the fanny doesn't sag when you carry it. I often times wear it on my stomach as I go in because I have my Lone Wolf treestand on my back.

I'm glad I bought this. It is large enough to hold what I need and small enough to not get in the way. I particularly like the side adjustments that keep the pack from bouncing. This pack will travel the world with me as well as up the local logging roads on my mountain bike!

This is a great item for hunters and fisherman with plenty of pockets and room for the turkey hunter and bowhunter or predator caller. Nice touches like the breathable waist band and easy adjust straps make this pack a good buy for the active outdoorsman

Rated 1 out of 5 by loneranger49 Poor waist bag
The description said waterproof but did not explain that it was just the material and did not include the zippers. Thing leaked like a paper bag! Would not recommend this waist bag to anyone except a tourist on vacation. Never for a hunter or fisherman. Close to junk status!!!
