Rated 5 out of 5 by mozart1 I love this bike
I got this bike to keep in my trunk, so I always have it with me. I like the convenience of having a bike to explore when the urge hits. I park my car at the mall, and then I bike around town from there. I also love being able to pull it out and explore festivals downtown. I can park away from traffic, and then I am able to zip around to check things out. This bike has phenomenal gearing. (For comparison -- I've had Cannondale, Trek, Gary Fisher.) It is an incredibly smooth-riding bike. I love it.

Words are simply not enough to describe how much my wife and I love these Dahon Mu P8's. We took a bike tour in Paris last spring with a company (Bike About Tours) that used Dahons. Fitted everyone perfectly. A great fun ride. We had not seen or experienced a Dahon folding bike before our trip. We liked them so much that I researched the bikes when we returned.
The Mu P8 seemed liked the perfect match so we ordered one. Loved that bike so much that we quickly ordered a second one.
We live in Moab, Utah. My wife can carry her Dahon behind the rear seat of her MINI Cooper. I generally carry both of them in the rear of my FJ Cruiser. We have literally abandoned our other bikes that we had to carry on racks and usually didn't have them with us when we wanted them. We ride the Dahons on gravel roads and paved paths and have them with us whenever and wherever we care to go.
The Mu P8 is very well made. It really does take mere seconds to fold and store. It has polish, good looks, is tricked out by Dahon just right and just feels stylin' to ride. Dahon has front and rear racks available. They even have a luggage case.
We get all sorts of questions from people we meet and have probably sold a few.

If you are going for a folding bike, chances are you are more into practical urban transportation than in being a tour de france wannabe. Dahon more or less owns the folding bike market, and this bike could be one reason why. We had planned on getting the Eco III model, but ended up getting this model instead. It has 8 smooth gears, easily adjustable handle bars and seat, and is really comfortable and easy. It folds quickly and efficiently. This is our first folding bike so I cannot compare it to any other brand or style, but I have owned larger bikes before and this one is a pure joy. It doesn't come with mud guards or any rack/basket/bag, which for an urban bike seems wrong. That's why I gave it four instead of five stars. We haven't had it for very long, so we cannot speak to its durability. While not cheap by any means, it is one sweet ride.
