Rated 3 out of 5 by FlyUpNorth 0.2 too small
This kite is simple to fly and is assembled in the small carrying bag. It has the advantages of a chute kite, no parts to loose or break. It if fairly fast and responsive, however it does need a significant wind to fly and it does not fly without the tail like other chute kites. It is a good trainer for dual line kites and does not have the pull our 3.0 HQ kite has in the same wind. I would advise LL Bean to market the Snapshot 1.4 kite in place of this one. The 1.4 will fly in less wind and I deem would be a better bang for the buck overall.
If you are not into chute kites or dual lines, this is a fun product for you or your children. If you have parafoil kite experience and wanted something more zippy and responsive than a power kite, this is probably not the kite for you. It is ok, but a very beginner dual line kite that needs more wind than I expected. I don't think I will keep it and take my money and look for something that will fly in less wind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by oldcapecoddah A whole new spectrum to kite flying
My 40 yr old son gave me a 1.2 prism Snapshot about 3 yrs ago and gave me SOME LESSONS on flying. I am a retired 68 yr old, and I have now found the perfect hobby with this kite. In fact, I keep it in the trunk of my car just in case the wind is over 15 and I happen to come across an open field or beach. When my wife and I go to the Carribean on vacation, I pack it in the suit case. She reads books....I fly. I can't begin to say how much fun I have with this kite year around..yes even in the winter, on windy days I take it to the beach or frozen lake, whatever. Important suggestions: 1) Definetly get some form of instruction or watch any video on the basics. 2) NEVER allow the 2 lines to tangle...don't even think about unraveling them. If it happens, bite the bullet, throw them away and restring. Once you get the hang of it, there is almost no end to creative maneuvers...like spins, dives, and flying it horizontally just above the 'deck', pull on on of the lines and have the thrill of watching it rocket up vertically. There is so much more....but I think you get the idea...again: get some form of instruction and NEVER allow the 2 lines to tangle. Happy flying..

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ridgeback Wow, this is fun
Ok, more than I wanted to spend on a kite, but I had a gift certificate and thought why not since I would never buy myself one of these. Wow, am I glad I did.
This thing is sooo much fun. Okay, it took me like 4-5 times to figure out how to keep it in the air, but if it's going down right, your pull left and vice versa. You can control this thing really well and man does it whip around if you're really getting it. It just makes you a little giddy when you're doing it and you laugh to yourself.
Took my wife and son to the park and they thought it was stupid, my son (who is 21) did not want to let me have it back after he mastered the controls. You really need 1 other person, especially the first time. I was able to get it back in the air by myself when it crashed, but not every time. Once you have it down, the only time you will crash is when you are trying to buzz close to the ground.
It's compact and durable. I mean this thing is fast, so when it hits the ground, it hits it hard sometimes, but it's just like a parachute, with nothing to break really. So I'm assuming you could snag it on something or whatever, but my son and I DEFINITELY pounded this thing the first time out and it's still good as new.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Polecat Great beach kite
Got this for my 8 yr. old Grandson after my Prism Snapshot 1.9 dragged him across the sand! These are great kites but they can have a lot of pull depending upon wind speed. Also very durable, no frame or spars to break. It does have a little learning curve to understand how to control it. but if you want to try a parafoil kite that will give you a workout, this would be a good starting point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LLBeanBuyerinDavisville Kite is a Kick
I bought this kite for my husband and the kite's first flight was at the beach. He thought he might fly it for a half-hour or so and ended up flying it for almost two hours. By the end of that time, he'd mastered self lauching it. Launching with another person helping is a breaze. This kite is a kick!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mark4 Amazing kite.
This parafoil type kite is amazing. The way it turns and the way it flies. I have seen videos on parafoil kites flying and loved it, then i used my gift card to buy a prism snapshot kite 1.2 and loved it. It has a medium tail, but i added extra like plastic tail and paper. Also i saw that no one has mentioned the fact of its cool acrobatic abilities! With the dual handle control you can easly take it back up in the air and recover from crashing in seconds. You can fly it easier in 5mph winds and let it float. I saw that this kite is so easy to fly. You have to get the handle about doing it right. I love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by MoeK Great Travel Kite
I am not an experienced kite flier, but love this kite. It packs small into its own pouch, and can easily be transported. Additionally, there are no rods that can bend/break (a plus for the novice who is prone to crashing the kite)! It gets its shape from the wind. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy to fly.
