mom6 Heavy Duty Cooler
I bought this cooler for my farm milk (door-step) delivery (yes, some farms are bringing back milk delivery!) and beach trips. I needed something that would stay cool longer than the average cooler.
I am very pleased with it being made in the USA. Everything seems sturdy on it, even the lock/latch, from what I can tell. My husband did expect something more heavy-duty for the price, (possibly he expected something from his childhood?) but I am pleased. (Just wanted to give a man's perspective).

Rated 1 out of 5 by Beanlover4life Lousy Latch!
The latch on this cooler does not enable the lid to close tightly. This defeats the purpose of the cooler! I returned one cooler for this reason. Then I called the main (Maine) store and asked for another one that was physically/visually checked first. Same problem with the second one! Very disappointing because, otherwise, it's a great cooler. I suppose you could put a heavy rock on the top but for the money you shouldn't have to!

Pleased with the workmanship and sturdiness of this cooler. Especially liked the metal handles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by IndianaHank Kept Ice Packs Frozen for 3 Days
Used this cooler for the 1st time this past weekend for a 3 day weekend camping trip in PA. Have zero complaints with its performance. The handles made carrying it to and from the car easy and the drainage spout was a welcome addition to drain the loose ice that had melted. My home made ice packs stayed frozen for the duration although they had, in fact, started to melt by Day 3. I use plastic 1/2 gallon milk jugs as ice packs. Just fill 3/4 full and freeze them laying down. Then line the bottom of the cooler with 4 of them and you are ready to go with re-usable ice packs. The added bonuses are two-fold: 1) if you take one out and let it thaw, you have clean drinking water in a sealable container (I recommend using milk jugs with plastic caps that screw on as opposed to the ones that merely snap onto the top of the jug); and, 2) since the ice is sealed in a jug, as it starts to melt, it doesn't release water into the cooler preventing its contents from becoming water logged. I have read some reviewers complain about the quality of the lock itself but I have experienced no such issues. Granted, I have only used it this one time this past weekend so time will tell but as of now, I give this cooler 5 stars. If the lock does ever fail (e.g. breaks), I will update my review.

Just a GREAT cooler. I golf on Thursdays and in the morning I would set up my old cooler with ice and drinks and go to work. Now, the car sits in the hot sun all day in Irving TX. When it was time to golf (2:30 PM) my old cooler was filled with water and warm drinks! Now that is all in the past, thanks to my new Coleman Steel-Belted Cooler. It's so good Im' getting another one.

I have used Coleman's Steel Belted Coolers for over 35 years guiding wilderness canoe trips and while camping and fishing. They are the best and most durable coolers I've used. I am still using some I bought in the early '80's.
They also have alot of usable interior room for their outside dimensions and will fit in most any canoe. I wish they still made the 80 quart version to fit perfectly in my Old Town Trippers.

This is just what we wanted. We had an old cooler (Not Coleman) and it was okay, but this one is so much better. Keeps food and drinks cooler much longer!

We bought this cooler to replace an inexpensive cooler we had for camping. Some previous reviews had commented on the poor quality latch and they were right. The cooler itself seemed very sturdy with quality hinges and handles, but once we saw the latch we returned the cooler. The top part of the latch system is plastic and did not hold the lid down securely. I cannot comment on how well food is kept cold in this cooler because we did not use it. We expected much better quality got the cost.

We used this over the July 4th holiday and it was great. The ice did not melt and it fit great in the back of the van. It costs more; however, you get what you pay for.

It is pretty hard to find a good cooler. We have had many "Ice Burners". This cooler is by far the best we have ever owned. It does keep ice a lot longer than other coolers we have owned. As others have said, they must have lost interest when designing the latch. The cover can be opened with the latch "closed".
