Rated 5 out of 5 by Loudy1966 Great Hiking Boots!
When we go camping, we hike up over the mountain and our packs run 60 to 70 pounds so we need good footwear. These are the best that I have ever worn!

These boots were absolutely flawless during an 8 day, 60 mile trek through the mountains/jungles of Peru. These required zero break in time, and were perfect right out of the box. They were lightweight, cool, never got wet, and handled mud perfectly. I was apprehensive due to the high cost however, they were totally worth it. The best pair of boots I have ever owned. Highly recommend!

MADMainiac Excellent after some tweaking
I purchased these boots a couple of years ago at the Freeport store because I found them incredibly comfortable, lightweight, and very supportive. Unfortunately, when I actually used them for hiking I found that hikes longer than 3-4 hours caused blisters on my heel. At first, I thought that this was simply a question of being broken in, but time did not improve the situation. Since the problem seemed to be at least partially related to my feet getting sweaty in hot temperatures, I tried different socks, sock liners, etc. but found no resolution. Finally, after thinking a little more about the problem, I decided that it centered around a deep heel cup. With this in mind, I purchased and inserted some heel liners from CVS (although any firm, adhesive heel liner would likely have worked, as long as it provided bulk and and didn't move around). This instantly solved my problem and I have had no issues with blisters since this tweak.
Since then, these boots have lived up to their initial promise. I have used them on everything from the Carriage roads and Granite mountains of Acadia to the coastal range of California with equal satisfaction. They perform well in mud or dust, snow and slush, and stick well to steep granite faces even when wet after a shower. They are equally satisfactory for day hikes, as well as for heavy packs on weekend trips. I typically hike 8 to 12 hours and often climb 2500 to 5000 feet and these boots can handle these situations with ease.
The gusseted tongue serves equally well to keep the boots dry, keep out debris, as well as keep the tongue centered for comfort. As mentioned, the tread works well on mud (clearing fairly easily) as well as granite faces. It does does take a beating on volcanic rocks (especially fields of volcanic glass), but I have yet to find a boot that does not.
Overall, since my tweak last year, these boots have lived up to their promise and I am very satisfied. I suspect that for most, the fit will be good right from the start, but for those with a problem like mine, once I decided what the problem actually was the fix was easy and durable (see images of the heel liner in place after more than a year of use).
In short - excellent boot for day hikes or long trips with a pack.

These boots have an incredible feel on my feet. They are excellent hiking boots and do not "give" as much when you are hiking on rigorous trails and supports your ankles. These boots are surprisingly light considering how rigid they are.

I bought these boots for hiking in the rain or in wet conditions or to take on longer backpacking trips. After a couple of months I can honestly say that they are the best (and most expensive!) boots I've ever had.
I found them to be very comfortable right out of the box. They feel very much like trail running or lightweight hiking shoes.
After hardly any break-in, I took them on a three week trip to Spain and Morocco, where I was on my feet pretty much all-day, every-day. From city streets to hiking trails to off-trail bouldering up mountains, they were solid and comfortable in all conditions. During the trip, they actually felt more comfortable to put on than my Birkenstock sandals (which are my most comfortable shoes).
They are very lightweight for such a large and sturdy boot, so wearing them all day will not tire you out.
These boots breathe very well - even in heat of over 80*F my feet never felt too hot or got very sweaty.
I found the insoles to be of very high quality, and super-comfortable. (I am very picky about insoles, and remove insoles from almost all other shoes).
I found the waterproofing to work great.
The sizing was spot-on as well - I take a 9.5 in multiple other brands of hiking boots, and a 9.5 in the Solomon Quest fits like a glove.

I bought these boots to use in the middle east while I am here contracting, and have always been happy with products sold at Beans. I pirchaced them for the rugged terrain here, and was told by the salesperson that they were the best Beans had to offer for my situation. They were purchaced at the main store in freeport while I was visiting family for Thanksgiving. I wore them for a week straight and figured the uncomfortableness was just the break in peroid, but after three weeks of wearing them they are still very uncomfortable, causing hot spots all over my heels and the sides of my feet. I do not have wide feet and the boots have a good fit until I walk around in them for a ten minuts, and then become very uncomfortable. I am forced to wear a different pair of boots now due to this.

Love these boots. Great support but very comfy. I now wear them to work instead of clunky work boots. My first non-leather hiker so I am curious to see how they last.

Toe box felt large, otherwise fit was good. Boot is high and felt uncomfortable rubbing my calf when walking, hiking. Couldn't relieve the rubbing by untying.
