Rated 3 out of 5 by RuggedGuy Solid, good-looking, uncomfortable
Right off, I found them shell-like and uncomfortable, like wearing a wooden box on my feet. I decided to give them a chance and break them in. After three weeks they are better, but are still hard and cut into my feet around the opening. The laces are stiff and it's very hard to get them cinched up tight. I hate to complain because they are nice looking and seem like good quality, but I'm ready to trade them in for something softer, easier on the feet. (Read the other reviews because a lot of people love these shoes.)

Rated 3 out of 5 by Mainer44 Great shoe with wide toe box
I love the size of these shoes. I am wide at the toes but not really the rest of my foot. These shoes fit perfectly and are comfortable to wear all day.
If you are expecting these to be waterproof they are not. Water flows in from the tongue very easily. They do keep water out from small puddles etc. If you wear all day and your feet like to sweat you'll have to watch out for some noise when walking.
The other reason for 3 stars is that there is something hard that keeps the form in the front. This keeps your toes from getting cramped from the top. The problem is that eventually this material will buckle and then you will constantly have it rubbing against your toes. You can straighten out temporarily but it will eventually collapse down. My second pair that has done this. It's not painful, just annoying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CampingChris Awesome Shoes!!!
The shoes arrived shortly after I ordered them online. The Keen shoes are great. They are extremely comfortable and have a great grip on the road, snow, and wet pavement. I use them for work as they are semi-professional looking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chester395 Supportive and casual shoes!
My husband's sensitive feet create problems when it comes to purchasing shoes. He wasn't certain if these shoes would hurt him until he wore them outside a few times. This pair is a gem! They have a wide toe box which reduces stress around the toes. In addition, they are supportive, stylish and casual. I would highly recommend these reasonably priced shoes. Return if I am wrong. LL Bean 's return policy allows you to really try out the shoes. If they don't fit right simply return at any time! You can't go wrong.

I have walked miles on at least 5 different continents and have bought and tried shows of all different materials and styles and with these Keen Austin Lace Ups I have found the ones I hope never go out of manufacture. These are the most comfortable walking shoes I have ever used in 55 years.

Rated 2 out of 5 by pseudo Didn't work for me
I wanted some shoes I could where with day-to-day clothes and also for work-outs. In the past, I have always had to change my shoes between these things, which is not a terrible burden, but somewhat annoying since I also have to swap out my orthotics, sometimes several times in a day. So, I saw these. The look is good for my purpose. I liked the wide box. However, there were three problems I had with them after wearing them extensively for several weeks: the top edge at the heel gave me blisters and didn't seem to be breaking in over time; the soles are relatively heavy and become a little awkward, for example after a long walk in the hills; and I developed a pain in my knee after about two weeks which persisted until several days after I stopped wearing them. That said, the shoes do have advantages that could be very good for some people: if the shape of their heel is such that they don't get a blister, if they really need a wide box, if they don't go for long walks in the hills, and if they don't have 67-yr old ex-jogger's knees.

My husband really gave these an honest try, wearing them around the house for a few evenings before deciding that they just weren't comfortable enough to keep. Not sure if it was him or the shoe, but only one shoe was giving him problems. He doesn't typically have this problem. He owns a pair of Keen water shoes and loves them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by CoSpgsWalker 3 months in, already falling apart
I use these shoes for morning walks with the dog. The rest of my workday, I wear other shoes, so I really only use these for about a half hour or so every morning. Nothing strenuous. City sidewalks. Bike paths from time to time. I've only been wearing them for about 3 months in this fashion and was surprised to find today that the soles are falling off them. Not kidding. Just started on the right shoe as far as I can tell. Don't want to pick at the left one. Otherwise, I really liked them. Fit great. Very comfy. Still - can't pay this much money for shoes every three months.
