Rated 4 out of 5 by EHaddaman Surprised by Quality and Value
After shopping around for bows for my 10 year old, I had just about resigned myself to paying $300+ for a bow when I found this set. I was hesitant to order it for this reason. Wow was I surprised! The bow that comes with the set is surprisingly high quality, which has already gotten quite a workout from my boys. The 20# bow is the perfect size for an average 10 year old, and I suspect he'll get many years of use out of it. It even has padded finger grips on the bow string; a nice touch.
The 4 star rating comes from the other stuff included in the bundle. The target is fine -- but because I am an old hand at shooting, I knew I would need something to mount it on, so I had a foam target already made when the bow came. Beginners might not expect this, so it would be nice to see something in the product description. The bracer that comes with the set doesn't really adjust to small arms. While you can get it small enough, the ends of the straps then dangle awkwardly. Finally, the arrows that come with the set are, to be polite, garbage, both too short and too thin to have good flight characteristics, so you will find yourself purchasing better arrows before too long. And in my opinion, REAL archers don't use a bow stringer. They bend it over their leg.
For myself, I would have paid a little more to get better accessories, but that's a quibble. The bow alone is more than worth the price of the set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RamboDoll Great price for a good set
I'm a beginner, so I wasn't sure about buying a bow, but I figured LL Bean would have a pretty decent product and at a price like this, I went for it. I'm glad I did because the instructor at the range said it was a very nice bow and Samick is a good company. Also, he said the fact that it's a takedown is good because I can buy higher poundage limbs once I build up my strength--I have the 20lb & I'm a thin 5'2" tall woman. The bow is VERY light, which is great for me since I was able to shoot for a couple of hours before my arm got too shaky & tired. The arrows are just cheap arrows, but they work for closer range and considering a Samick bow alone is usually this price range, the set for this price is outstanding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by IstraePsyche Great Bow!
This set includes everything to get a novice started in Archery. The bow is made by Samick, which is a well respected Korean company. We bought the large bow and the smaller one and both shoot beautifully. I especially like the bow stringer included in the set, which keeps the limbs from being bent or broken.
I was impressed by the performance of the bow, but I quickly took off the 'no gloves' feature because it was causing the string to twist and send my arrows off target. I'm waiting for a sale to buy an archery glove from L. L. Bean.
The set doesn't include string wax, which you might like to acquire to increase the lifespan of your string.
Over all, its an amazing deal. The bow alone from other companies would cost just a little less without free shipping and without the Bean guarantee.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the Bow in the "kit". The case is too small to carry the bow when it is assembled unfortunately. The supplies arrows and the ones in the six pack recommended seen to shoot OK, but I normally am a compound shooter so am not really used to shooting this way as yet. My wife and I are using this as a training tool for us and for our grandkids, who were fascinated by the archery in Hunger games Books first and then the movie.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CPSreview Family Archery Set
I got the 30 lb draw set for my son on his 14th birthday. The bow is beautiful and assembled together effortlessly. The staff that assisted us was very helpful and knowledgeable on archery. I'm giving four stars only due to the arrows that are provided with the set. They wouldn't shoot straight on our 1st outing, and thought it was technique. However, the next day we went out and bought some youth carbon arrows (28.5") and that made all the difference in the world. Nice straight shots and he was hitting the target repeatedly.
