Rated 2 out of 5�by keysguy Bean's save the event Bought 3 of these rods for a fishing event for our grand kids. On a "test run" one broke first thing. Beans rushed a replacement and the event was a success. Pole is marginal, Bean's is SUPER. March 20, 2013

Rated 1 out of 5�by Stephanilouise Dissatisfied Highly dissatisfied with my purchase. I have only had this rod for a month and have only used it twice. The first time I caught a few small trout on this rod and reel. Only problem was that the reel didn't click back without manually having to flip it. Second time out with the rod and reel I hooked a large pickerel that weighed about 3 or 4lbs when I couldn't even get it into the boat before the rod broke in half. It is a great looking rod and reel but is not high quality for avid anglers. May 19, 2012

Rated 3 out of 5�by fishbulb Less than good.... As a fan of Ultralight fishing I was excited to see that LL Bean had gotten in on the action. The rod's quite nice; it has some backbone, but not so much that it takes the sport out of it. Keep in mind, this is ultralight fishing....the rod is not intended to be able to horse a fish around in the water. The only major shortcoming of it is that it lacks a solid loop on which you can place a hook. Underneath the grip will work, but for what should be a cost difference of pennies it's just not there. The reel's smooth and well made.....when it's working. Here's the rub: something internally will cause it to lock up and will require the spool to be removed and put back on in order to work again. It's good to go for a session, but if you loosen the drag to get some line and expect it NOT to break (remember, you're not using very high test here) then it's going to break on you. If it worked, it would be a great setup. Mine will be going back in hopes that I just got a bad one. If it does I'll likely purchase several more. August 31, 2009
