Rated 5 out of 5 by Trouble1970 great commuting bag
Love this bag. It holds so much! All the pockets organize my stuff and makes it easier to find. The Healthy Back Bag feels lighter than the handbag that used to carry all my stuff, but holds so much more.
I am 5'3" and with the strap tighter all the way... it fits perfectly!

Rated 4 out of 5 by MireilleB Small touring healthy back pack
I bought the small one in black. It's roomy enough to put a sweater or light jacket, and has multiple pockets, which is rare in those types of Back Pack. The small is perfect for me as the regular would be too bulky and heavy. I have problems with my shoulders & neck and cannot use a purse unless I wear it crosswise. The quality of this bag is amazing.
The negative is that the padded portion is not long enough so unless I make it the shortest possible do I get enough of the padded portion on my shoulders and it's not even in the middle of the padded portion but just at the its end edge. Also the shoulder strap is not long enough to wear crosswise. For those reasons I gave it a 4 and may return it. Otherwise great pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OutdoorsyWannabe Exactly as Described!
For years I have bought bags of all kinds in ripstop and other outdoorsy fabrics; it's fun to say that they bring out my inner hiker, climber, athlete. But the truth is I am not athletic at all. I am 59 and suffer from chronic back pain and sciatica, and have a very difficult time lugging around any sort of bag. All the ones I have experimented with are in a lovely stack in my closet. My latest acquisition, a small- to mid-size backpack by another company, worked but it was very bulky. I thought I was going to be stuck with it when I saw this bag by accident and decided I had nothing to lose by trying it. What an amazing little bag! It is precisely as advertised. I got the black regular size bag, and it is very attractive in a basic sort of way. I work in a corporate setting and it is equally at home both at work and on a fun weekend with the grandkids. Appears to be very durable too. The teardrop design is brilliant, and you can tell that much forethought went into the design of the bag. With all the pockets (of all shapes and sizes), I was able to stow the considerable contents of the backpack I had been using very comfortably in the Touring HBB. It was astonishing, actually. Rather like Mary Poppins' endlessly deep carpetbag, it just kept accepting everything I put in it, and there is room to spare! It is the most comfortable shoulder bag of the many, many I have. Stays on the shoulder and the weight of the bag is supported by the middle of your back when you have it adjusted properly. The only caveat I have is: once you have decided on how to pack your bag, be sure to put things back in their places or you will be digging around every time you want to retrieve an item! I can't say that my back pain is gone yet, but I do believe that this bag will contribute towards the healing of it. This alone makes it worth the investment. I would make two small additions if I could: a zipper tab cover to make the main zipper more inaccessible to would-be pickpockets, and a couple of sturdy loops on the inside near the opening - the kind you can fasten a carabiner to for items you want at your fingertips, like pepper spray or a large ring of keys. Otherwise, I love this bag and can't wait for more colors!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Bavetty Ergonomic but Flimsy
I have had my bag for almost a year and the strap is already starting to fall apart. The material is very thin and flimsy and there really isn't much room inside. The outside pockets are very small too. These bags are comfortable to carry if you do not overstuff them, however, the items tend to all fall to the bottom of the bag in a clump. Overall, I would say, it's an OK bag but way too overpriced.

I recently noticed that my old Healthy Back Bag was looking a little faded and the zipper wasn't always closing properly... it wasn't until I was looking at some REALLY old photos, that I have had this bag for well over 10 years! So, I happily ordered a new one. There have been only a couple of changes... the flap for the "cell phone" pocket on the outside edge (which I always used for a water bottle) and the non-slip portion of the shoulder strap is now incorporated instead of attached (works a lot better). My last bag went with me on travels to every continent... I look forward to as many travels with the new one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OleBeanBuyer A really great bag!
For the past 20 years or so I have owned 4 of these bags, am using 2 now, the heavier one in winter. There is a place for anything you want to carry. The bag is very light in weight. All the weight is what you put into it. It washes beautifully in the washing machine. Only thing that has worn out is the zipper, after many years of use, and probably LL Bean would repair that if asked. I did not, as I wanted to change color. It may seem pricey, but it is beautifully made and you will use it for a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by nstaib ...wow! still going strong!
i couldn't tell you WHEN i bought this bag, but the reciept in it is dated 2009. i recently stopped using the quilted cotton bags due to back pains. i went looking for this item only to be struck by how familiar it seemed. it turns out that i had stored mine in the attic and forgotten i had it. i was so excited!! it holds as much as the huge tote bags i'd been carrying for years (my son thinnks jimmy hoffa's in there!), and it still looks great after being in storage for 4 years. the pattern has been discontinued (the green/blue floral), but that just makes it more unique! i love that it holds so much w/o being so very heavy! not only is it a great size and holds so very much, but i even saved money by not having to buy a new one!!! the best part is that, in the event that it has to be replaces, i have all new colors to choose from!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by TexasMom Love these bags
I have used these for around 10 yrs and love them. The travel one has a flap over the pocket on the spine which I love as well as an additional pocket on the back of the bag that the original doesn't have. I especially love mine that are printed fabrics, not the traditional beige, navy, black. I have the beige and it matches all in fall and spring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ImportedMainer other colors for Healthy Back Bag
I bought an LLB Healthy Back bag 10+ years ago, use it daily but still haven't worn it out, though I'd love to try one in the newer fabric now being sold, with the newer features. My problem is that LLBean no longer sells it in green--what are the chances you'll add green to the available colors?

Just returned from a tour throughout Spain with 23 high schoolers, and this pack on my back non-stop. Loved it so much and couldn't stop saying so, that 2 other adults on the trip are about to purchase one. The comfort and balance is perfect. Numerous compartents kept me organized. It looks and feels just as good with only a few items, as it does stuffed with a windbreaker, fleece vest and light sweatshirt.
