This was my fourth Healthy Back Bag. The first three were wonderful, except that they just needed to be replaced from over-use. The fourth one simply is not of the same quality. I did not care for the excessive use of Velcro, but I was willing to live with it. However, the non-slip material on the underside of the strap is literally falling apart. It is torn and shredded and the pieces show up on my clothing. I love this bag, but I would think twice before ever ordering another.

I recently replaced my old (over 10 yrs) bag which I loved. I have to say that I'm not totally happy with the new product. The new fabric looks cheap and makes the bag look like a knapsack. It's stiff and awkward, where the other was soft, tightly woven, and gave the bag a much more distinctive look. The interior compartments are still great and I like the addition of a flap on the exterior pocket below the strap. I also note the addition of more velcro on this bag, which was the first thing to go on my old one. so I'm not sure how this is going to wear. Overall I have to say I'm disappointed, I did recommend my old bag to many people over the years, but not sure that I will this one.

My last 2 healthy back bags had a leather flap, leather on the strap and leather pulls. It was stylish. It looked like a $99 bag. All the leather has been eliminated on the new version. It certainly doesn't look like a $99 bag. Even if it cost less I would not buy it as it has no eye appeal at all. Whereas I would buy the leather accented version in a flash if it were still being offered.

I had one of these bags for years and I love the design and separate compartments. I replaced it a year ago because it was looking worn and I wanted a different color. However, I had to return it because the material on the inside of the strap was peeling and flaking off on my clothes. I hope llbean fixes this problem because I would really like to purchase another one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by TheJediLibrarian Bag is fine. Strap is not.
I have had one of these bags for several years and while the bag itself is fine, one day out of the blue the plastic on the strap started disintegrating... All over a white shirt. Should have lasted a LOT longer for the price.

One of the biggest disappointment I have ever purchased from L.L. Bean. I have been using the bag since January 2014 and it has started to wear out on the strap and the Velcro has stopped working on the out side pockets. Not worth the money if it is going to break down this easily.

I bought the Touring Healthy Back Bag to replace one I had bought from L.L.Bean 6-8 years ago. I just loved that bag! It was faux suede and very well made. It lasted a very long time. This new version was VERY disappointing. I bought it for a trip I was taking. On the second day of use, the Velcro began to rip away on the front pocket. The side pocket did not stay closed. Other Velcro on the bag is beginning to tatter. I would have sent it back right away but I was miles away from home and didn?t have the paper work with me. I?m returning it and asking for a full refund as I am very dissatisfied with the quality and workmanship of this bag. I shop L. L. Bean often and have always been happy with my purchases. This is the first time I've returned something due to poor quality.

I like carrying this bag, as it is anatomically correct and does not pull on your shoulder. The small one is plenty roomy enough for all I need. I have had several of these bags and they wear really well. Currently I have one in the khaki color, previously I had one in navy, and my mother has a black one. Thankyou, L.L. Bean, for a great product!

I've used Healthy Back Bags for years, but this one is going back. The color is supposed to be khaki, but in sunlight it looks like sparkly gold, which seems kind of the opposite of khaki. Also feels cheap and plastic compared to the fabric in my other bags. Some external zippers have been replaced with velcro, which I don't like as well. The inside pocket design is similar to my old bags, but the lining fabric is also stiff and crinkly in comparison to my older bags. These bags are not inexpensive and I'm disappointed in the quality this time.

I bought this bag on January 19th. Today I noticed that the seams on the strap have separated in two different spots. This new fabric may be more stain and water resistant than the previous bag (which I returned because the non-slip lining on the strap shredded) but this bag is truly a disappointment. I had my first bag for years. These new bags are below the quality for which LL Bean is noted.
