I own the predecessor to this fishing backpack and it is FANTASTIC. The prior fishing backpack is large, holds a ton of stuff, has a rod holder and a "mud room" for your wet things. I love it and wanted to get one for a family member for Christmas. I was very disappointed to learn it was discontinued. I found this one, hoping it was close. When it arrived, I was very Disappinted to see how small it was, it looks like a kids backpack. The rod tube holder is small and doesn't look like it will hold a rod safely. You cannot carry nearly enough with it and as any fly fisherman knows, getting to the good spots often involves hiking far. This pack is useless. I wish LLBean never discontinued the prior version , that pack is great. Do not buy this pack.

Rated 3 out of 5 by dickba Nice, but has issues
Rec'd this pack today and have reservations before even using it. Too many straps to catch on things. The two reel pouches inside are so far down in the pack that a reel won't fit in them. They are so far down that the pouch alone gets folded over because it hits the bottom of the pack. The pouch itself might hold a spool for a 5 wgt, but not a large arbor reel of that size or larger.

More than just a great fishing pack. Not only is it well designed for fishing trips, but comes in handy for day hikes also. It is comfortable on your back and carries plenty of gear for the day.Good for light overnight trips also.

Rated 4 out of 5 by flynfeathers Nice little pack
This is a great day fishing pack. I like the separation in the main pocket. I would have liked more of a pocket configuration in the front flip down portion, instead of all the little detailed compartments. I might end up taking out the reel bags for more storage room. It has places for pens I guess, don't need that. Not sure it needs the belt either.
Over all it will work and was comfortable to wear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by giro I wish it was larger or I was smaller.
This is a nice, high quality pack with a great layout for a fisherman. However, I have to send it back because I am too large for it. I am 6' 275lbs. The shoulder straps fit fine, but the waist strap will hardly go around me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ashleyrene GREAT FOR ANY TYPE OF FISHERMAN
I am an avid fisherwoman and needed something compact, easily organized, and lightweight. This pack has all of that. With two compartments for reels, plenty of pockets for tools and flies, and handy clip-ons and foam pads for additional tools and flies, it is the perfect pack. Not only does it have all of these little goodies, but it also has a spot for a hydration pack. It's a great go bag, and I will be using it for more than just fishing trips. The only downside to this pack is the rod tube carrier. I am used to having adjustable bands, but this has a stretchy cylindrical holder which is not conducive for all carriers. With all of that being said, I would definitely recommend this product to any fisherman.

Rated 4 out of 5 by OneDryFly Great Pack - No H2O Bladder
This pack is quite a good value. Although it gets tough to justify purchasing yet another fishing pack with all of today's options, this one is a must have. It looks great and functions just as well. If I have to be critical of anything, it is the fact that the H2O bladder is not included. One of the photos features the bladder, but upon delivery... no bladder. I double checked the website and it doesn't say "not included". If you're buying because you love this feature, plan on spending another $25-$35 on a bladder. It certainly changes perceived value. I'm still keeping the pack. It's good!

The gear bag was everything it said it would be. I inspected it throughout, it actually could be used as a first aide back pack for Mountain Rescue Teams. The way it buckles around the waist as well as arm straps would allow climbing and propelling as well. It is the all around utility bag. Everyone should have one stocked and in their car in case of Emergencies. I highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by FlyFishATX Solid buy
This is a well made backpack. It's a standard size that carries enough for a day. The reel cases are handy, and I like the layout of the compartments. The cup holder (shown in the photo with a fly box) unzips and stretches to hold fairly large size bottles, as well as narrower ones too. The straps are comfortable, and my hydration bladder fit perfectly. An improvement would be a channel that runs along the strap (left for me) to contains the hydration tube - ending with a zipper to hide the tube end. Even without that, this is a great buy!
