The foundation is a rigid, torque-free all-aluminum frame and rotor with 10 ABEC ball bearings plus one roller bearing for smooth operation and durability. Hollow bail is strong and lightweight. Brass pinion gears and an S-curve oscillating retrieve for the best line control and greater distance casting. Aluminum frame and hollow bail design are durable yet lightweight. A six-disc drag system delivers smooth start and stopping power and allows precise adjustments. Machined aluminum spool with deep anodization for maximum protection. Includes monofilament and a spare spool. Imported.

Rated 5 out of 5�by Baluga32 LL Bean Signature 3000 Series I got 6 of these last year. I actually believe they were 4000 series that were mis-labeled, as my other 3000 series reels are smaller, but the 4K were about the same. ANYWAY...I live in Fla. and I literally fish EVERY day. I have a small commercial fishing business and the wife got these for me. Right out of the box, these are a nice looking reel. So far, after a year of hard fishing, the ONLY problem I've had is a couple of the screws are rusting on one of them. I freshwater wash immediately after use so I don't know what's going on with that. As another poster stated, they come with not only 2 spools, but pre-filled with about 10 lb. line. The metal spools are nice to look at and hold their color very well. They are durable as well. I haven't fished the plastic spools, so I can't say how they perform. The too much line issue is an issue with ANY reel, especially when new line is spooled. I did fish a couple of times with the line provided, and it worked well, but was a little stiff for my liking, so I switched it out. The drag system is smooth, even during prolonged runs. I have caught numerous Bonito (Little Tunny) on this rig and it handles a 100 yard run with ease. It also handles Spanish Mackerel, Pompano, Redfish (Up to 10# so far), Sheepshead, Speckled Trout, Flounder and just about any other inshore species imaginable. I recently spooled one up with 300yds of Power Pro and the reel likes it. I will try and catch some smaller King Mackerel in the summer and re-post. I am VERY happy with these reels and highly recommend this product. March 5, 2013

I mostly cast for trout, but have caught 5 pound hybrid stripers at the tailwaters---halls those guys in like a champ on a 4 foot 8 inch ultra light action rod. No complaints here! On a long day, we make literally hundreds of casts. Very few problems...I am a believer. October 7, 2011

Rated 1 out of 5�by jonet Spring weak, too much line The first time I used it the bale wound not return all the time after a cast. I took it to a tackle shop and they said the spring was weak and would only get weaker. They also said there was at least 30 yards more line on the reel then needed which causes it to foul on a cast. With the reduced line it did not foul. However, I had to send the reel back and promptly received a new one which I have not used as yet. I noticed that there was an excessive amount of line on the new reel as well. The ad says 120 yards. If that is correct it is too much line for the reel in my opinion and experience. It may be that much more line than 120 yards is on it. July 14, 2010
