My daughter's skin is so sensitive that even special suncreens often give her rashes, so she wears one of these surf shirts whenever she's in the water or at the beach. I've bought them for several seasons now, and they hold up well to sun & chlorine. I wash them in cold water, gentle cycle, & air dry after every use. I often buy one size up and manage to get two summers out of it. I find that my daughter, who is tall and thin, takes the same size she takes in her regular Bean shirts. I haven't had a problem with fit.
My only wish is that they would make the girls' shirts with the same mock-T collar as the boys' because the neck is such a sensitive area, and it would be great if the shirt covered more of it.
I also wish they made these shirts in women's sizes; I'd buy one for myself! I have one of the Bean "oxford" style sun shirts from years ago, but it's not as great in the water as this would be.

We buy long sleeved rash shirts every year for our girls. This one is not one of our favorites. The neck is a bit too wide. It is very boxy and too short in the length. I compared it to a rash guard shirt from last year (same size) and this one is a good 2 inches shorter in the body length; however, the sleeves are perfect. Thankfully, the tankini we bought from LLBean is a good length and will cover up what this rash guard should be doing. I would send it back but the cost of shipping and what I paid for it (on sale) doesn't make it worthwhile.

torgas summer all year round
i was hesitant getting a long sleeve shirt, thinking it would be very hot. but it has worked out wonderful. i live in central Florida so it is summer pretty much 11 months out the year. i have put this to the test. not only in our pool at home but in the water parks were the water is loaded with chlorine. i have gone to the lake and the springs and she wears this every time. she has never complained that she is hot and the fabric has held up wonderful. i usually go thru 2 bathing suites every summer but not this time the chlorine has not eaten thru the fabric and that is what happens to ALL my bathing suites. the fabric is sturdy. i would recommend this. the only thing i would recommend is if you are buying for and older girl who is starting to develop you might need something underneath, not b/c it is see-thru but b/c it is clingy at first

My daughter was excited when the shirt arrived. Great cut, great fit. Unfortunately, it was totally ruined by sand in a day spend on a beach. Sand got inside the structure of the fabric and shirt looks moldy. It might be less of a problem with other colors than white. We had white and will be returning it.

This shirt is cute, comfortable and well made. It seems to run a little big and I am glad I didn't buy the next size up. (I bought her a 6 but she is wearing a 7 in most clothes.) I agree with others that the fit is loose for sure. I don't think it adds any warmth in the pool but it keeps her covered and out of the sun and she says it is comfortable.

Ordered this shirt for my daughter who is of average build and it was very long and loose. I was expecting it to fit snug as it will be worn in the water. The color is great vibrant and fun (blue) and the material feels nice but will be returning for a smaller size.

I got one of these for each of my daughters, ages 5 and 9. They are great. My 9 year old is on the thin side and my 5 yr old still has a bit of a belly. The shirts fit both of them well. Yes, they are a bit loose, but not too loose. We sized up as we usually do for clothes. Love the blue and pink colors, too. Lets you cut down on the use of chemical sunscreens yet really protects their skin.

I love this shirt. I got it for my 5 year old daughter. It's slightly big but I'm happy that it should fit for a few years. I'm thinking of ordering the XL for myself!

I bought these in a size 10-12 and a size 14-15. The shirts are cut very wide. Most surf shirts fit snugly and these are almost billowy on my girls, though the sleeves fit at the correct length. We will keep them only because they are SPF 50 and less expensive than true surf shirts.

I had purchased LLB's toddler version of this for my 2-year old. I loved it! When I couldn't find a loose-fitting rash/sunscreen shirt for myself, I called LLB and asked for help. I ended up ordering this shirt in XL for myself. I am petite, so this may not work for everyone...but if you normally wear a XS or S in women's this might work for you, too. I love it. It gave me full sun coverage while at the beach with my daughter. No fussing with trying to get sunscreen on my back. : ) I love it, and the price was GREAT - just $17 on sale. The material is high quality. I am very pleased.
