I love these shirts. It gives my boys extra protection on top of sunscreen. They love swimming and they'll stay outside for hours. My boys have never burned under their shirts. I ordered two of these 4 years ago and I just ordered another one for my oldest because he grew out of the old ones. Besides that, the old ones are in great shape. They look like we bought them this year! It's worth spending a little more money because these last!

I purchased this rashguard, as I have for several years now. I have seen them elsewhere for less, but LLBean's rashguards' initial quality is far better and they hold up great throughout the summer season.
Last year, my son forgot his LL Bean rashguard at home, and we had to buy one at the last minute. I found one at a store in the mall which seemed nice at first. After a couple of trips to the pool, I noticed it fading badly and the material began to loose it's elasticity as well. After one week, the rashguard was completely ruined. The neckline was stretched out and the shirt was completely faded. LL Bean rashguards always last and last. I never worry about fading or stretching out of shape. It is worth the extra money for such great quality!

I ordered this for my 2 1/2 year old son, for a recent trip to Hawaii. He wore it almost every day at the beach or at the pool, it seemed very cool and comfortable, and my son was happy to put it on and wear it. Washed and dried easily.
I ordered the grey and orange shirt since other comments indicated that the white parts of the other shirts got sand stuck in them (and gave them a mildewy-look). I noticed that the white parts of this shirt did seem to get some sand stuck in them as well, but it easily rinsed out.
I ended up ordering the Little Boys' M (5-6) size for my son, who is tall for his age and long in the torso. (He is almost 40" tall and weighs about 38 pounds.) The Little Boys' Medium 5-6 is about 1" longer in the torso than the Little Boys' Small 4 or the Infants/Toddlers 4T. (My son wears a 4T in the unshrinkable long-sleeve t-shirts, so I originally ordered a 4T for him in the surf shirt--but it was too short in the torso.) Was pleased too that the neck opening was easy to get over my son's head, no tugging or stretching of seams..
Very happy with this purchase, shirt will be great when summer comes too! My son will be able to wear it all summer long! Thanks LL Bean!

I purchased this for my son and he wore it once at the beach and the sand literally stays in the fabric of the shirt. After two washings, I can pick sand out of the shirt. Not a good choice unless you will be at a pool only.

I have 3 kids and purchase these shirts every year. I love them. Unfortunately the White/garnet ended up getting small purple spots all over it after the second day at the beach. Almost looks like mold. It was with my other kids shirts and they are all fine, so I'm not sure what happened. I have tried everything to get these spots out and nothing works. Would recommend the grey riptide shirt instead.

We got red/ white/grey shirt. Very good looking, however only before the trip to the beach. After just one day, the sand got inside the fabric structure and made the shirt looking moldy. Interestingly, this only happened with white fabric, red and grey stripes look like new. Looks pretty run down just after few days of wear and I will be returning it.

Once again, LL Bean delivers with the BeanSport Surf Shirts! My boys have been wearing these for years and they are wonderful. Great skin coverage, long lasting elasticity, exactly what we needed.

I love this set...I have it in the white/green/gray for my 5 year old. I am a FREQUENT LLBean shopper with 4 kids...3 being boys. Our first trip to the beach and one popsicle later...the shirt is stained. I am so bummed. I feel like kids clothes should stand up to tough stains and we shouldn't have to remove clothes for them to eat. Otherwise it is so nice....so disappointed.
