Rated 3 out of 5 by Netgirl Good quality, smallish on top
The suit is good quality though it could use a little more room in the bust area. A slightly different cut might make it work for C cups without making it too big for A cups/B cups. I returned it because the pattern and style didn't work on my body type (C cup, wide waist, proportionately slim hips). I'm a size 14; the suit was true to size.

This swimsuit fit great and was comfortable. But after 2.5 months was baggy and became transparent in the back. I exchanged it for another one, but it only lasted 1.5 months. I take an aquafit class 3 times per week and thought the suit should last much longer than it did. A disappointing purchase.

I like the style of this suit but I wish the company would use polyester instead of Lycra. I only get about three months of wear before I have to purchase another one. I wear it in the pool five days a week.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Midwesternlibrarian Chemical odor, sizing is off, fading early
I really want to love this suit. The cobalt is beautiful and the style is simple and utilitarian, which is just what I wanted. It would fit well if I had ordered a long, but my measurements were within the product description for the regular, so that is what I ordered.
Out of the bag, the suit had a horrible chemical smell that didn't go away, even after washing and wearing several times for at least three weeks (yes, I should have returned it as soon as I realized the stink wouldn't go away). Finally, even though I have worn this suit a maximum of 3 times a week only about 2.5 months, the color is fading along the back seam, the typical sign that it's time to replace the suit.
I realize that $40 is a good price for a swimsuit, but I've bought others that have outlasted this one and I expect more from L.L.Bean. I may still order another, as I have read that other colors might not fade so quickly, I am hoping the smell was just a fluke, and I now know to order a long. But the suit I have is a huge disappointment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Tortuga30 UNLINED BEHIND - Not fully lined!
Beautiful pattern, great looking suit. It seems to run a little short in the length. Ordered 6 regular. Will be exchanging for an 8 regular. I ordered a few suits in this shipment: BeanSport and Tidewater separates. Be warned, NONE OF THE SUITS ARE FULLY LINED! Only the fronts, not the backs! Which doesn't make any sense to me. Cost cutting strategy? Disappointing. I'm hoping the pattern will help disguise this issue. Overall I recommend the suit, it really does look beautiful and slimming on.

Rated 1 out of 5 by kyegirl No fabric match on backside
I had ordered this suit in a size 6 which was a little tight. I was very disappointed in the fact that the striped fabric on the back of the suit was not lined up to match. What woman wants to draw attention to her backside in a swimsuit. This speaks to very poor quality in my mind. As I was going to try a size larger I hoped that the mis-matched stripes on the suit was just a fluke but the 2nd suit I received was mis-matched on the back too. This suit is very cheaply priced at $49.95 and I guess you get what you pay for.
I do think that the quality of clothing at LL Bean has denigrated in recent years and this purchase has really reinforced my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by travellllller love it so much we bought a second one
My teenager was in dire need of a suit- and since it is the winter we had to go online. I found the Cobalt stripe on clearance and took a chance on it- we looked at the size chart and ordered an 18 long. It was a perfect fit. She said that she couldn't believe how comfortable it was and it was the greatest suit she had ever put on. After using it on vacation and in the hot tub we decided to go ahead and order another one in solid black. It looks great too. She is thrilled- and I am thrilled that she has two good looking bathing suits- that cover her body, are comfortable, and look really nice. She keeps telling me that it is the most comfortable bathing suit she has ever put on. The sizing chart was exactly right when it told us which size to buy. If you happen to find a cobalt stripe still on sale- the picture is accurate, the stripes do not line up in the back- but she didn't care so we didn't care. It is really a great cut, style, and fit. I highly recommend it. AND we have seen no fading from the hot tub- which hasn't been the case with other brands. I will definitely buy more of these in the future.

Rated 3 out of 5 by LLBeanBathingSuit Color Fade - help
I have purchased your suits for years as you carry LONG and I like the fit and bright color Turquoise. I had given feedback for more bright colors (orange, pink, etc) for Florida instead of black and was told to look for more choice in the Spring,
Unfortunately, I agree with the others. Since moving to Florida and using my suit more often in the pool, I have had 3 fade exactly as pictured and described. I am at a loss as I don't want to invest another $45+ on several suits.

I have two of these...the black suit has lasted well. I used it for months three times a week at the Y. I started to wear my blue suit last week, and it has faded in the back and is stretching out already.
I am very disappointed with it. There is a major difference.

by Loyal2Bean4Yrs Not Chlorine Resistant, Color Fades
In only two weeks, this cobalt blue bathing suit has faded to a lavender striped mess. It fits beautifully, but the colors are not chlorine resistant as advertised. Even with cold water, hand washing the color dissolves a little more each time it is worn in a pool.
