This shirt really is more of a sweater and I am very surprised it was listed under Tees and Knit Tops. I was expecting a much lighter material.
I also typically wear a size 6 and found the regular small to be very frumpy on me and not fitted at all. And the boat neck is much too large.
Really disappointed in this purchase all around and plan to return it immediately.

I purchased this blouse earlier this year in my usual size, 2x. It came pretty quickly but the sleeves were tight. I reordered a size larger, it fit nicely and I was satisfied. I washed it when I got it, wore it once and then washed it again. Yesterday when I put it on I see the neckline is all stretched out. It feels like it is falling off! I can't return it now since it has been laundered twice but only worn once. I guess I am stuck with it. The fabric is nice but the neckline is so large it feels like it is falling off me! I will not be ordering this again!

I have four of these from several years ago. Love them. They are soft, substantial, and fit very well. Recently I ordered another one. What a disappointment. While the colors are gorgeous the fabric is thinner and scratchier. My main complaint is the fit. LLBean has changed many of the fits from relaxed to slightly fitted. I AM NOT SLIGHTLY FITTED ANYWHERE. I used to be able to wear an XL in most tops but now if I want one in the new fit I have to order a Women's size. This is not fair. Bean's seems to be pandering to the skinny crowd and excluding the fuller figure women. I can no longer wear most of the shirts I did before, and will not order any more until the fit is back to relaxed. Keep the smaller fit if you must, but do what you did with the men's shirts and offer both relaxed and fitted styles. Bean's used to be my go-to place for clothes that fit, were made well and my style. Not anymore. Sorry Bean's, you are failing in the clothing department.

Hard to review. Pros: The colors are beautiful--i got the salmon with blue stripes. The stripes are nicely placed at the boat-neckline & bottom. The length is comfortable & flattering. Cons: The fabric is a pretty knit, but heavier than i expected. That's okay--i'll wear it in the spring, rather than summer. But i do wish it were lighter-wt. fabric, that i could wear it all summer. The sizing was a surprise--runs small. I always order a Med.; llBean clothes have never run small on me. Wish i would have ordered a Lrg. I ordered this and 2 other French Sailor shirts last year, just wore this one for the first time yesterday--too late to exchange. Would have given 5 stars for this pretty top, but the size issue is disappointing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MaGlack Long sleeves please!
I love this shirt and wear it a lot- but really miss the long-sleeved boatneck I bought in the late 80's. As a shortie (5'1") I like the shorter version of the zip-neck, but this longer one does look nice with slim trousers.
Mainly I love this material- it is durable, holds it's shape and color and is always flattering. LLBean, you make the BEST French sailor shirt (now, bring back the long sleeves, please!)

These shirts are summer wardrobe staples. I've ordered many over the years and never get tired of wearing them. They're great for wearing to work -- very comfortable and easy to dress up. The substantial fabric looks neat all day and washes beautifully.
The length is longer and much more flattering than that of the quarter zip version of this shirt, which looks too short on me. (I'm 5'4".)
My only suggestions would be to make the sleeves an inch or two longer, and bring back the black and cream stripe that was offered a few years ago. I would also buy a long-sleeved boatneck version if it was offered.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Didada Awesome Top very comfortable. Fits great.
Love, love this top. Looking for another color right now. Feels good & it Is a little warm, it is 105 heat index, not like a T-shirt but will be perfect for fall too. I'm always cold under the air but right now it's too hot in Texas for a stay outside with anything. Perfect & ready for a different color. Decisions decisions.
I recommend it. Very cute.

I bought one of these shirts 2 years ago in cream and navy and still wear it ALL the time in the spring and summer. I have paired it over denim dresses as a sweater and worn it with jeans and shorts as a top. It is a great summer top that still looks nice enough for my casual-business-casual workplace(s) but is light in the summer. I bought it again this summer because my husband suggested a second top would be good since I wear it so often. This time I bought the light pink and cream one. It is WAY bigger than the old one (even though I bought the same size) but I am wondering if that is because my old one slowly shrank and shrank over the many washes? Recently my new one snagged. I have never had a snag in my old one that I wore regularly, and I am a little disappointed. So, it feels like the quality has maybe decreased a bit. Still, I love the cut (even though my newer one is a bit baggy) and the classic styling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by gmof2 Found the right fit
I am 5'2", 130 lbs, 34B, small frame. I sometimes wear a petite top but the regular small looks very nice. Length to hips. Nice boat neckline, not too large. I got the Heather/Cream and the Navy/Cream. The cream works fine with white bottoms. The heather blue looks good with khaki or black bottoms and some shades of blue. The fabric is a nice weight knit, almost like a summer sweater. The 3/4 length sleeve works for cooler nights.

Rated 1 out of 5 by LaurieLE Confusing reviews
I have to wonder if this top is made in different factories or something because some reviews are opposite what others say. For example, some say the shirt is soft, I found it very rough and scratchy.
-I think it should be called a sweater (in fact, I think several years ago they DID call it a sweater). I was expecting more of a t-shirt weight, but it is much heavier than that.
-Some reviewers said the shirt was too short. I found it to an appropriate length.
-Finally, I have tons of LLB tops and wear the same size every time. This one, was tight.
Unfortunately this item was a disappointment and will be returned.
