Rated 5 out of 5 by losman Best Boot I ever Bought !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I purchased the boot Men's Gore-Tex Kangaroo Upland Boots, Moc-Toe Leather Insulated back in 10/14/2011. I am a boot man, I purchased everything from Red Wing to Local chain stores styles this boot stood well above the rest they were extremely warm for the Buffalo NY winters. Not only are they good looking and well constructed. The only thing is They were a little snug ,the size runs a little small so order a half size bigger. The boots needed no time to break in they were comfortable from the start. after four years of constant ware the boot had started to leak. Now this is the good part.I called LL Bean and asked about their warranty I told them about the leak and they told me that if I am not satisfied for any reason at any time send them back. So after 4 years of wearing the most comfortable boot ever. They exchanged them no questions asked . So I returned them and I ordered a half size bigger. I have been through hundreds of boots in my life time, I will never buy a boot from any other company than LL Bean. Thank You There are not a lot of companies that stand behind their product like that. LL Bean you have a customer for life............. Can't wait to put them to work...

I needed a good boot for small game and spring turkey so I ordered these. The plus is they are light and comfortable. The negitive side is they leak and very slippery on wet ground. If I was only hunting flat dry ground they would be good.Wet grass and rolling hills make for wet feet and slippery mess. I'd be better off wearing sandals

The boots feel broken in out of the box which was a pleasant surprise. They have served me well this fall. I have not had the opportunity to use them over multiple seasons so time will tell but I am overall pleased with the boot. The items that need to be addressed are that the laces need to be made more durable when used in conjunction with the speed lace hooks, and there should be another set of hooks instead of lace eyelets on 8" boots. i ave noted as in other reviews that the soles do wear quickly, but am chalking it up at this time due to LLBean attempting to use lighter weight materials in this style of boot. I have been able to fit heavy weight merino wool socks when white tail hunting this year, but one needs to realize that late season hunting in below freezing temperature you will still get cold toes when sitting with only 200 grams of insulation. As stated in the review title I feel that these boots should serve well as an all purpose hunting boot hopefully for years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by shambalad Handing them off to my nephew after 13 years
I bought these boots 13 years ago. I'm 61 years old, lived in snow country all my life, and these are the best boots I've ever owned. Very well made. It's amazing how much a difference the light weight makes when you're wearing a pair of boots all day. These boots can be a little warm for wearing inside, but I never suffered cold feet outside with them. A few years back, I had to take them to a cobbler to replace the soles because I'd worn them thin; but I got plenty of mileage out of the original soles and the replacements have been holding up well. I've never had any problem with the stitching. A couple of times a year, I'd clean them with saddle soap, go over them with some shoe polish, then spray some waterproofing on them. That's all it takes to keep your feet nice and dry. I'm moving to Hawaii, so I'm giving these boots to my nephew. If he takes care of them, I'd expect that someday he'll be able to pass them on to his son or grandson.

Over two years I had two different pairs of these boots. The original pair made it almost 1 year before the sole began to separate from the upper and water would seep in. The second made it about a year, too. And please keep in mind, I am walking the dog in these and occasionally wearing them to work (in an office). They are not being "worked" in by any means.
The fit is small. I wear and 8.5 W in New Balance/Rockport shoes. I had a 9.5 W in these, and with thick socks my toes ran right up to the end of the toebox. Even with regular hiking socks, these were snug. New, they were comfortable (once the fit got worked out) and looked nice with jeans.
However, for the price, you should never have wet feet. Ever. And especially not after 1 year of light use.
Returned the second pair for the classic Bean Boot. Granted, it doesn't have the same style, but I am certain I'll have dry feet when walking the dog.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Spiffster Great mud boots. Too slippery for winter.
These boots are SO lightweight and comfortable. They fit like sneakers from day one. The leather is attractive and durable -- these could generally pass for "old-style" boots if you don't like tromping around in something that looks like it was designed in the Space Age. They are waterproof and tall. Even in deep snow and sub-zero temps, my feet have always been warm.
However ... the soles are very slippery on snow and ice. These are great boots in the mud, and I believe that is what they were designed for. I just wish that I wasn't risking serious injury every time I wore them in the winter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NDbirdhunter Great upland boot..
So far the boots are holding up well to upland hunting in North Dakota. I wear a 13 EE in most boots and these fit true to size. I added a set of Superfeet insoles for more arch support, but I normally do for other boots. My only gripe about the boots are the soles. They are wearing fast and add little traction. Add any amount of snow and they are terrible. My last two Pheasant hunts in ND had just a dusting of snow and I feel down twice crossing ditches. Hopefully, I can resole once these wear out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Linkbelt Excellent Customer Service
I have been buying footwear, etc from Bean for about 30 years.
I don't expect every product that I buy over that period of time to be satisfactory. (about 99.5 % was/is satisfactory).
The soles of these boots came apart. The first shoe sole separated after a few months. I repaired it myself and let it go. After more than 3 years, the other one came apart. Being 74 years old, (now), and not working or wearing these everyday, I found these boots not to be up to the usual Bean quality. I have Maine boots that are approx. 25 years old, still good, for instance. I sent them back. I would not even bother to try this with any other company. I am not looking for free footwear, just want to get the quality I pay for.
There was no problem with a refund, they even paid shipping for me sent the old ones back. I think they have improved the quality of this boot, I will just order new ones. (they cost more now). They wear well and look good.. Bean gets a 5 star rating based on Excellent Customer Service!

I bought them a year before even trying them on. I ordered my size, 11, and thought they were a little snug. After wearing them 3 times, they were completely broken-in. I don't hunt or spend countless hours in he woods. But, I do my fair share of walking (several miles at a clip) through deep snow, slush, and mud. I've never had a problem in those conditions. I've had to be more careful on ice, but then again, I never rush around on ice. The greatest thing about these boots is that they are so lightweight that they wear like a sneaker. It's very easy to move in them without the clumping around that I've had to endure with every other boot I've ever owned. My feet have never gotten cold or wet.
