I ordered these for my 91 year old father who couldn't find good fitting boots locally. He asked me for my Bean catalogue . Maybe they would have what he needed. Did they ever. Fit him like a slipper right out of the box. Just what he was looking for. He was delighted. He has a narrow foot and heel. The med. width was just right. No rubbing anywhere and the padded collar was soft. 2 thumbs up. Leather is sturdy but soft. He can get back to a daily walk now that he has good wheels.

Good design but 3 things need improvements.1st Toe box is too narrow. 2nd Flat cheap foot beds in upland hunting boots? 3rd Sole that would not survive one season of Chukar hunting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JimB1979 Just what I wanted in a boot!
My hobby is wildlife photography and I needed a comfortable, non insulated, durable, waterproof boot. After much shopping I decided on these and I could not be happier. I am in fields, woods, crossing streams, and in mud all the time and these boots are holding up great. Fit was true and I can wear them all day. Only thing I did was replace the stock insole with a thicker cushion insole. Very satisfied with these.

I have had these boots for several months now. I was hoping that the issues I was having with them was a result of boots not being broken in, or not being used to them. But I am now realizing just how poorly designed these boots were. As upland boots, I expected something that could handle mud, wet leaves and grass, snow and a little ice. Nothing out of the ordinary for any hunter. I have worn them hiking, hunting and working. I was thoroughly disappointed in every scenario. They have no arch support (which for close to $200 boots is astounding), the soles are ATROCIOUS, and you can't lace them up tight enough to get good ankle support. The soles slide on every single surface, from damp grass, to mud, to any amount of snow, damp leaves, dry leaves, and damp flooring at a job site. I am thoroughly disappointed in these boots and expected much more from L.L. Bean.

The boot is a great looking . Wears good . The uppers are great . Good quality . However the soles are TERRIBLE . I received a pair at Christmas and within a month the soles were coming apart ( separating) . LL Bean replaced them and the soles on the second pair separated within 4 months . I wear the boots to work . I work inside and do average walking during the day . The boots were not abused in any way to cause the problem. This is not what I've come to expect from a LL Bean product .

I was in the hunt for a cold weather water proof boot. I decided to purchase these LL Bean Upland boots and give them a try. I am really glad I did. Though I have only worn them for a couple of days I am impressed. They are comfortable right out of the box. Soft but firm leather. The fit was perfect (I ordered on half size larger to accomodate heavy socks). I may update this review if for some reason it is called for, but right now it is a 5 PLUS!. Bean gets it right again!

?Have two pair; I totally wore out the first pair. Upland hunt three times a week four months a year. Put approximately 200 miles in the field under the most trying conditions over the past three years. I upland hunt Northern Illinois and North Dakota. Absolutely the most comfortable boot. Boot is totally waterproof. Wet CRP is the ultimate test and these boots held up
Took new pair to North Dakota last November; wore them four days walking in CRP (did not break in prior to hunt) approximately five to seven miles a day. No Issues!?

These are astounding. I was really hesitant to buy them online, not having seen them in person. Ultimately, I decided to risk it (well, LL Bean's return policy doesn't really make a blind purchase a "risk" but anyway). Couldn't be happier - these boots are just tops.
They're sturdy but completely comfortable out of the box (the review that mentioned how the boots are like slippers is spot-on). So far, they also feel indestructible. Super happy with this buy.
I think they might run a bit on the narrow side, but not actually enough to justify an exchange, in my case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by lanternhanger As comfortable as house slippers
I purchased these boots for pheasant hunting in SD in October 2015. My wife can't believe I wear them all the time now. These feel and wear like house slippers. They were incredibly rugged while tromping around in corn fields while hunting. I did not expect them to hold up as well as they did. I would highly recommend these for any upland hunter. I have yet to wear them around extremely wet conditions but I feel they will do just fine. The length is on the small side. I typically wear 10.5 to 11. I had to send them back and get a 11.5. It was worth the hassle. Order up the first time.

I purchased these boots in April 2104 and 18 months later the soles have worn out and are falling off one boot. The only positive comment I can make is the leather uppers are still in good shape. But that doesn't count for much when the soles wear out and start to come off in18 months.
