Rated 4 out of 5 by GParsonsSF Good Wool Pants
I got these pants for extra warmth when hiking outdoors during the California winter and they are great. The wool is thick and the women's size fits fine. Because of the wool fabric, the pants may be a bit scratchy against the skin, but I wear silk underwear and that takes care of that issue. It is difficult to find good wool pants for cold weather. Thanks L.L.Bean for offering this product.

I really like these trousers. The fit is good, the pockets are deep...very hard to find in women's clothes. The style is comfortable .They run a bit small which I found surprising as I buy so many clothes from LL BEAN. My biggest gripe is that they are SO SCRATCHY. I do wear my silks underneath and it makes no difference... scratch, scratch, scratch. Why LL Bean did not put a liner in them certainly puzzles me. I'm going to keep them but they should have done a better job.

I love that they are really warm, heavy wool pants. It's really hard to find heavy wool pants. I like the color but you may not. It's a dark forest green.
But here's what's wrong with the pants. They are extremely wide width pants in the legs not tapered at all. I had mine taken in by at least an inch to make them trimmer & look like normal pants. That added to the cost of the pants but it was worth it cause I wanted heavy wool pants. They aren't lined but that's ok with me, just wear silk long underwear underneath. These pants come very short. If you're tall then you need a bigger size but then they will be way too baggy all over. The other downside is the waist is too big again because it isn't tapered in.
Conclusion: extremely poor fit but you can have them completely re-tailored to fit. I love the thick, heavy wool and color.

Pants run small, usually wear a 4 purchased a 6 and fit just right, especially with a lightweight pair of long johns under. Pant are short had to take hem out and re-hem. Pants are perfect for nice quiet hiking. Would definitely purchase more if more colors were available.

I've been looking for a pair of sturdy, comfortable, basic wool pants (as opposed to modish tight-thighed ones) for a long time, and I'm glad I noticed these on the outdoorsy limb of the website tree. I am a 4 petite at LL Bean, or sometimes a 2. These pants are no longer available in 4, but I gave the 6 a try and it fits fine in the waist, hips, and even length. Yay! I'm 5'1" and short waisted. These pants are cut short in the rise, slim in the rear, and short in length--so a 6 really is a 4 petite. They are not particularly flattering, as they are very full in the leg; and they are not lined, hence somewhat scratchy. But I can easily fit long johns under them, eliminating the scratch issue, and they fit well in the mid-section so they don't feel or look baggy. I work in an office, but I dress in winter for the commute, and jeans are prohibited by our dress code. I am glad to have found these; the loden color is very nice, too.

good pants- I bought a second pair.
Pockets are deep enough! Waist is a little roomy, but the pants don't fall off. I would welcome the same pants in another color.

Rated 1 out of 5 by NYoutside too short for size
pants are poorly proportioned, inseam much too short-likely less than 30 inches for a size 14, not well described in on-line catalogue.

These are good quality, great fitting wool pants. I wear them hiking and will use them backcountry skiing. I wear long underwear under them (they'd be scratchy without).
If you made them in black or gray, I think you'd sell them like crazy. I'd buy another pair.
I am a size 10 but I got them in 12 and they are a perfect fit.

the fabric should be described as a wool blend, as it contains 15% nylon.
